HeresHoping, I'm loving the attitude! Never give up if this is your dream!! SupermomMD, stay positive! As a non-trad, I know it seems like time's just rolling on by and the temptation to pursue something else is greater but you have got the desire to become a physician! Don't give up on that! I'm still praying for you guys and I REALLY hope you hear something great within the coming weeks. God is great!! Anything is possible!! 😀😀

The docs, nurses, and non-clin staff at work all believe I would be a great fit for any medical program and I havent heard anything!!! NOt sure what to do or where to go at this point, I am a non traditional student so time is ticking. Is anyone else going thru the same?

Hi SuperMomMD, I am also a non-traditional student (I work in biomedical research), and I have yet to hold an acceptance in my hand, so I totally understand! It's easy to get discouraged, but DON'T!! If anything, take this opportunity to get more pumped about yourself and your abilities. Think of yourself as more than a great fit; you would be an ASSET to any program you matriculate!! So when you get that interview/acceptance you can blow everyone out the water with your sheer awesomeness!!😀😀😀 That's what I am trying to do...Best of luck to my fellow HUCM hopefuls (hope there is some good news for us next week!) and congrats again to those accepted!🙂

This is my one and only interview, so please keep me in all of your prayers. And again, have faith SuperMomMD. Here's a little bit of my story to maybe help you, I took the MCAT a lot and on my last retake I went to church, prayed a lot before the test and prayed a lot after the test and finally got a decent score. But, what I'm saying is that keep on praying, and things will fall into place because God knows best.
Also I want to say happy 1st birthday to the healthcare bill. This will forever change how we do medicine, if Republicans don't repeal it.

I love it when people rely on prayer for it wasn't for God, I wouldn't be planning my move to medical school! Never lose faith! I wish you the best, I hope you get in 🙂

SuperMomMD, I was invited to interview last week and just this week I withdrew from my interview to give someone else a chance, since I have been immensely blessed with other acceptances (after YEARS of struggle and hard work!). So I hope you take my spot at Howard! Never lose faith! (BTW, if you really wanna go there, call and call and call them!)

Im not sure about anyone else but I'll PM you my score because I dont wanna post it... Its above a 22 but I wasnt that comfortable with it since it was below my goal of a 28.... 🙂

and for all of those who are applying and are near the cut off of 22 dont be discouraged because I PERSONALLY know a CURRENT student at HUCM that told me that there score was a 22P (PS 7 VR 7 BS 8) and they are presently at Howard

Just to add to what Kaji posted above, I know someone who applied last year from an ivy league school with almost a 4.0 gpa and great mcats who interviewed but did not get in because of his lack of background/interest in working with underserved communities. I really think more than numbers, HUCM is looking for individuals who can improve and contribute to narrowing health disparities which currently exist. That being said, you do have to have scores above the cutoff point; I mean it's med school after all and you have to show that you handle the rigorous coursework. Personally, I did have scores above the cutoff, mcat was good except one section and gpa was also pretty good, however I am most proud of my involvement in extracurriculars which showed my obvious interest in underserved populations and HUCM was definitely my top choice because their mission aligned with my personal career aspirations. So apply EARLY and see what happens... Don't get intimidated, if you are a good fit for the school's mission, I'm sure they'll be interested! Best of luck 😀😀

Beeweew you're right, I guess I was a little misleading 😳😳.
