I am officially completely disoriented by this process. I just received my final rejection and their (likely cookie cutter) reasoning did not make sense. I should provide the disclaimer that I have 7 interviews that I am greatful for, but 6 rejections that make no sense. I come from a very focused clinical forensic PhD program, I have practicum experience in multiple forensic and nonforensic settings, I have 4 peer reviewed publications on forensic topics and six paper presentations at forensic conferences and collaboration on a book chapter focused on personality assessment in a forensic context, I am trained in the administration and interpretation of forensic measures, and have conducted numerous forensic assessments (under supervision). Yet, I get an email rejection from a site with a heavy forensic component stating "your experience and/or interests do not constitute a good fit with our program," and was rejected by 5 federal placements. Granted, I could have written very poor essays, but I had numerous people review them and say much to the contrary.
Maybe I am just looking for an ego boost, or a sign that the world does make sense. Any and all contributions to either cause are welcomed.
