Read that again. I thought typically you had to send the deposit within 2 weeks to any school where you want to hold your acceptance, but if you withdraw before May 15th it will be refunded to you.

No, I got it too and you don't have to send the money until May, but you do need to send the card within two weeks. It is kinda weird that they are so relaxed about it. Just another reason why Jeff is awesome!

Just withdrew from my Dec 8th interview. Hopefully one of you can move yours up! 🙂

Anyone else who interviewed on Nov. 3rd who has NOT heard anything since??? I'm starting to get a bit anxious!! Should I email Dr. Callahan or Dr. Brooks or patiently keep waiting???

Just keep waiting. It took about a month for me to hear back from them. Just have to let them contact you at this point 👍.

Yep, just keep waiting. Your faculty interviewer must be present for a decision to be made, so you're kind of at the will of their schedule.

Anyone else interviewing on the 15th? I'm so excited! 😀

for those of you who got accepted and sent back your cards, do they send you an email stating they received it?

That's exactly my question too. I just received a confirmation of receipt from another school and it got me thinking...however, I was in the first batch of acceptances back in October and never received a confirmation of acceptance of JMC's offer of admission. Has anyone who has been admitted?

Just curious for those of you who have gotten interviews, how long did it take from file complete to invitation? I was complete end of September.

do they accept update letters pre-interview????

first, congrats to all those with accepts and with interviews!
second, does anyone know if it is a crap shoot at this point? Anyone know how many seats they have filled so far?

I'm asking because I was "complete" but haven't received any status update on my application for the last 4 months. Do they send rejections?

Thanks for sharing 🙂 Did you send an update letter? When is your interview scheduled for? (wondering how far out they're booked now)

I haven't received anything back yet either, and I sent in the card about a month ago. I guess they're planning to send out packets in one big group?

Does Jefferson send any updates whatsoever? My online status hasn't changed since everything was turned in? Do they have any timeline for letting you know anything or is it silent rejections till march? Thanks

Got an interview invite on 12/13/10! (scheduled for mid February)
complete mid-august

Congrats on interview invites everyone! I better hurry along with my update letter.

You won't be getting any update from the admissions office unless you are invited for an interview. If you have "yes" next to all of the requirements on the status page, you're complete, so just hang tight.

Does anyone know if Jefferson rejects post-secondary and pre-interview? I have been completed since late August and haven't seen any change in the status on the website. Silent rejection?🙁

Are you asking if some people complete the secondary but don't get an interview? The answer is certainly yes. That said, you shouldn't assume that you've already missed the boat - I believe Jefferson doesn't necessarily issue interview invites in chronological order.

I am trying to decide whether or not to attend my Jefferson interview as I have already been accepted to my state school and Emory. If anyone can offer any major Jefferson selling points or just general adivce, I would really appreciate it!

The academic environment is not competitive, but the athletic one seems to be.

Not sure where you heard that! If you have already been accepted in two schools and you are not sure about Jeff, why not give some one else a chance to be accepted..

Haha, I think I heard people say that like 5 times during my tour.

Invite! (came in at 11:45 PM EST yesterday)

Complete 8/2, so my guess is that they're revisiting the holds.

This process mystifies me.

Can anyone who attends this school or who just got accepted share two of their favorite things about Jeff? I am interviewing here soon and, while I have the brochure, I'd like to learn more from someone who knows what it is really like. Thank you!

Non-exemplary med student? UPenn undergrad, top 10% of my class at Jeff, and elected AOA as a third year. Give me a call when you've been accepted somewhere.

Guess what? 🙂

good:
location... best spot in Philly.
certain faculty are awesome, specifically the guys who run the clinical skills/sim center (Dr. Majdan and Drs. Berg are all amazing teachers).
No PBL

bad:
Administration is a nightmare to deal with... given the size of the class you really are a number here.
affiliate hospitals really vary in quality.
$$$$

Basically Jefferson is no one's first choice, but still a solid school and probably the second best in Philly. If you get into Penn, go to Penn. If you get into a good state school, go there. However, aside from that, Jeff is a solid place that will prepare you well to be a good physician.

Meh, it was mine. I never really expected to get into Penn until MAYBE after I got my MCAT, and even then, I knew it was a reach so I never thought too much about it. After interviewing (there and at other schools), I'd say it's a close second. That said, I grew up in Philly so Jeff has always had a solid reputation to me; I know e-friends of mine that live in other parts of the country have never really heard of it.

That said, I agree with the rest of your post, in my humble pre-med opinion. 🙂

Thanks! I didn't even apply to Penn ...

I didn't either, but my low 30s MCAT wouldn't have gotten me an interview either way.
Neither did my 39, but I think it was my cGPA and my minimal research that held me back there. Meh, whatever, like I said, I was never holding my breath about that school.

Anyone know how long it takes to hear back post-interview? I heard two weeks... but that seems too good to be true.

quick question geared towards who just got their interview invite. Did you send an update letter or a letter of interest? In case you did, did you combine the two in one?

I was planning on sending a combo letter but hadn't when the invite came.

For what its worth, it might be Jefferson's MO. My buddy got a really late invite last year after submitting in July and interviewing at a ton of other schools.

Depends on when your interviewer shows up at the AdCom meeting. Could be one week ... could be much longer. One week or two weeks is not all unusual.

Interview invite today. OOS. Submitted secondary first week of Dec.

FYI, acceptance call today, interviewed in December.
