Hope you guys enjoyed your interviews at Jeff! I was going to go to cookie hour after anatomy lab, but then I heard there wasn't any cookies left haha.

The cookies were DECIMATED, man. I went get one like 10 minutes and they were already halfway gone. I went to get a second and was like, "Aaaaapprently not."

Lucky number 10 Yay!!!

I have heard very good things about this place from my friend's mom. Lets see how things go.

(*Privately wonders if he'll get to meet anyone on this board during interview. Privately wonders if geekchick is hot* jk)
Geeckchick is super cute🙂

Um...."cookie hour"? I don't even need to interview here. Any place that has something called "cookie hour" is my top choice, and I will sell my soul to go there.

Is there a student host option? How do I access it? I don't see anything mentioned other than renovated dorms for 90.00 a night and a campus map.

There is a list of student host. The office should have sent you an email with information about student host and schedule of the interview day. If they haven't sent it to you, I'd shoot them an email.

I also just wanted to mention that for people who don't want to stay with student hosts and don't have enough money for a hotel, there is the Apple Hostel in Old City (around 3rd and Market, I think). The rate is about $30-40/night. It's not your best option but definitely more affordable than a hotel. I have stayed here before and would recommend it if you're only staying for 1 or 2 nights.

Hey guys, I submitted my secondary to Jeff about 3 weeks ago and was wondering how we know if we're complete. Do they e-mail you or is it just when the status page says Yes in all the areas?

I don't think I got a complete e-mail, but yeah, once it says everything is received or something long those lines you should be complete.

I went into Jefferson not knowing what to expect, but came away very impressed. It definitely has shot up my list after being there.

all prereqs should be taken within the last 5 years?
thats what their site says.
I took my first chem class in fall of 2003, so thats 6 years, right?
so it doesnt count?

If they have a 5-year limit, that class would probably not count. I'd run it by the admissions office to make sure.

Has anyone with a sub-30 MCAT gotten any love from Jefferson? I have a friend here and he LOVES it and this is a great school. I'd love to go here.

sgpa 3.93, ao 3.95
28S MCAT skewed towards the sciences
bi-lingual (English/Spanish)
lived abroad 8 years, URM, disadvantaged
non-traditional

Any advice? Worth the shot?
Jefferson does seem to be slightly more receptive to late apps than other schools (how much I don't know though). Your GPA combined with the fact that you're URM, and disadvantaged should give you a decent shot here. Judging based on the interview day (which doesn't mean much, but it does mean something) they seem to want to recruit URMs more than the typical school. You should definitely apply. You should probably apply to TUSM, and Drexel as well (I don't know how much late apps hurt at those schools though).

Thank you for the input. I went ahead and applied. I figure it is worth a shot. Wish me luck :luck:

Hey guys i'm just getting to my secondary app now 🙁 I was wondering if anyone put down an essay or added additional information at the bottom of the app? I don't know if I should add an essay about why i want to go there or why i want to be a doctor like other schools or just leave it blank if I do not have to.

If you really don't have anything substantial to add, then just leave it blank. It's truly optional. But if you feel like you have really good reasons for wanting to attend, explaining that won't hurt you.

Less than two days! AHHHH! God I'm praying for that phone call. I'm so scared I choked at my faculty interview. He was really nice and I guess he liked me but I feel like I tried too hard and I couldn't read him much at all.

Good luck to everyone who's waiting to hear tomorrow!!!

Just in case you guys didn't know, Dr. Callahan will call those who are accepted. People who are waitlisted or rejected will receive emails.

😍😍😍😍ACCEPTED!!!!!!! Got the call just now!

Nope as someone else wrote I got a call from Dr. Callahan herself!

Just got a call that they would like to interview me next week on Wednesday. Is this the normal method of contact? Whatever the case, I am excited to hear from this school.

Thanks. Secondary submitted 8/11/10. And I also sent an update email last week.

I am guessing someone dropped out of the interview slot for next Wednesday (maybe after receiving an acceptance earlier today), so I got the call to fill it. Thank you to whomever that was.

Congrats that's awesome! Do you think sending the update letter helped with that? I'm still waiting on a bunch of schools, and debating whether it's worth the risk of potentially annoying someone by sending an update. Thanks!

I had a significant update to send, which pretty much described my plans for the entire year. Since they were not finalized at the time I sent in my secondary, this was important to let them know. I wouldn't send in a letter for nothing, but I do know that the Jefferson Director of Admissions is very responsive to emails and sometimes will even speak with you about what you can improve.

Hey can I ask a huge favor? When you guys get phone calls can you post when you interviewed? This is making me anxious🙂

i got a voicemail from dr callahan saying "hi ---, it's dr callahan from jefferson. just calling to give you some good news. i don't absolutely need to talk with you because you'll be getting a letter in the mail, but please call me back if you can't wait/have any questions."

i was at work with no service when she called (and got out of work too late to call back), but did anyone that got accepted get a similar voicemail? or does anyone know if she may be calling about an acceptance OR waitlist status?

also, (since someone asked)... i was complete around mid-august and interviewed on 10/6

Thanks so much bailey!!!!

Edit: Why is it too late to call back?

1. Congrats!
2. Why would she call to "give you some great news" about a waitlist? 😕
3. I believe a current med student has posted in this thread (maybe about 20 posts before yours) that they call for acceptances and email for waitlist/rejection.

Once again, Congrats!

i got the same message and called back and....

it probably means you're accepted 😀
(i think they only email waitlists?)

Congats on all the acceptances and new interviews!!! I hope Jefferson is high on your list of school to attend. It's an awesome school so far! If you guys have questions, I'll try to answer them with my limited knowledge as a first-year. =]

And no, Dr. Callahan does not call for waitlist. Plus, I don't think waitlists are generally "great news".

I'm so pissed I didn't hear anything today. I don't know if my file didn't go to committee or if they had an old copy of my contact information and tried to call me on my cancelled land line or my old cell phone number. 🙁

Thanks so much bailey!!!!

Edit: Why is it too late to call back?

sorry, i should have phrased that differently... i meant to say that when i called back it was 6 pm, and she had already left the office for the night. so, "it was too late to call back," in the sense that she was already gone when i called back

Ilovewater- I was wondering if you knew what they emphasized when they reviewed applications. I've heard the student interview means a lot, but does it mean just as much as the faculty one? just curious this school is one of my top choices after visiting.

I interviewed in late September and haven't heard anything, phone call or otherwise. I was hoping yesterday but nada.

From what I've heard, and I'm not entirely sure, the admissions committee does care about the student interview. For instance, if the student interviewer ranks you as "waitlist" or "rejection", you'll probably end up being waitlisted or rejected. This is what I was told by my friends, who are actually student interviewers. I'm not a student interviewer myself, so I don't really know all the details.

Me too, man. Hoping we hear something (early) next week.

If your interviewer didn't make it to the committee meeting, you'll probably hear on a Wednesday because that's the day of the week they make decisions.
