Good Luck! Blacktexan, maybe you should order the "book of medical schools"(Medical School Admissions Requirements 2010-2011) from AAMC. It has the stats from every american medical school. I have one and it was very helpful.
Wow this thread is really quiet......I will be interviewing on Jan. 24th. I am super excited and grateful. Is there anyone else on here that's interviewing on that day?🙂
Verrrry quiet! I've just been lurking to see if anyone from the 7th has heard back from the school yet. This waiting game has me stressed and....skipping classes🙄
But good luck on your interview! And good luck to all the future interviewees.
Just curious is there any dating going on between Meharry students and Vanderbilt students (both grad and undergrad). A brotha just wants to know! lol

Lol this had me cracking up![]()
Yeah been trying to figure out the housing situation too...does anyone know much about the Royal Towers??
Good luck to everyone still interviewing!![]()
When was accepted back in November, i made sure to call the Royal Towers Office and put in my application...I heard they fill up fast. I am also open to finding a roommate on SDN and looking for a place close to the school! Any takers? 🙂
Anyone else got the "AAMC Background Check Consent Request" in the email today? I guess it's almost 100% official, lol.
I hope they don't find out I'm related to Ted Kaczynski. 😉
Hey! I interviewed at Meharry on Jan. 7 and got the "AAMC Background Check Consent Request" email on Jan. 18 but I haven't received anything from Meharry. Did you get a letter or email from them before you got the AAMC Background Check email?? I don't whether I should start celebrating or not :s

My two cents....Congratulations! Yes start celebrating!😀 You probably have been accepted somewhere. Schools dont request a background check through AAMC unless they are very serious about admitting an applicant. Background checks arent free you know so why would they waste their money doing it if they werent gonna eventually let you in. Also, this early in the cycle, I highly doubt schools would start sending background check requests for highly placed waitlists applicants. If your acceptance came from MMC the reason you may not have received the official letter yet may be because it may be in the process of getting signed by the dean. Either way, u will be probably getting some form of good news soon. Live it up!!Hey! Background checks are usually requested after Jan 1st unless you applied EDP then it will be sent around the time of acceptance. So if u didnt apply edp but got accepted in october, you still wont get the e-mail until after Jan 1st which is why you got it on the 19th of Jan. Congrats.Idk cuz I got that email on Jan 19 and I got my first acceptance back in October. But i would think that it is a good sign since the emails says you've been accepted or waitlisted somewhere. I hope it's good news.![]()

PS. You only get one background check request even if you are accepted by multiple schools.
Super Excited!!!!
I got an interview invite today!!! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!
Complete 10/25. Been twiddling my thumbs since then.
Anybody else interviewing on February 28?

Well you were definitley right! I actually got my acceptance letter the same day I posted that!!!! Meharry sent it to my parents' house in Louisiana instead of my address here in GA.
I can't wait!! Meharry here I come! 🙂
I haven't read through this thread at all. Just popping in to say I'm a 3rd year Meharry student. You can send me a PM with questions if you like! For those who have been accepted CONGRATS!😀
Congrats!!!! How exciting! I interviewed yesterday and I am hoping that I hear some great news soon as well😳Got the cbc email today! 😀
Can anyone help me with this? I interviewed yesterday and was asked a question that I feel was inappropriate but perhaps you all can weigh in and let me know if it is or not. We were talking about cadavers because I told him that I was a TA in the concerted Anatomy lab at my college where we learned anatomy from cadavers and cadaveral parts and he ask well what anatomical position is the penis? Is it flaccid or erect? and I was thinking what in the world!? and so I calmly said well it's flaccid bc I thought he was still talking about cadavers but instead he was talking about the terminology of a anatomical position which means to face up so he said no it is erect......😕 😱...so I thought ok that was very strange....idk....what do you guys think?
MMM yes that question was a bit weird and I probably wouldve been quite disturbed since it was a man...and I assume you're a woman? I know my school would say you should report it and/or ask for another interview but I assume you've already left Tennessee? They told us to report any unethical questions we receive. But my brother said unless they make inappropriate comments about your body or something, then they shouldn't be reported. Seeing as how technically, that question was scientifically related and related to the conversation, I'm not sure there's much you could do unless you want to give up all chances of getting in the school. There's no telling who he is and how much of an influence he has so reporting him may not be such a good idea. In all honesty, I would just pray lol but I'll ask a Meharry student and my bro who's an M4 at UIC what they think...and my advisor if you want. You could also make an anonymous phone call to Meharry and ask them what they think lol
Other than that, how do you think the interview went?

wow that was a crazy interview question. but it seems to me like one of those "pimping" questions that residents stumble over. Anyway brush it off, in medicine we all will experience things that will disturb us. That also reminds me of an experience I had: My anatomy professor kept pointing to the penis on the class dummy. "This is an area of great interest to people." is what he said. I was very suprised but I brushed it off.
perhaps you are right...i should just let it roll off my back like water on a ducks back...but idk i am praying about it...haven't decided to report it or anything, just mulling it over in my head as well as the interview as a whole
I think it all depends on your situation. If you feel like you're going to get in or have reasonable shots somewhere else and you'd be willing to forfeit your chances at Meharry I say report it. But if you think this might be your only chance at med school, i say let it roll off your back and pray for peace in your spirit. I do think it was inappropriate but is it worth the possible consequences. Just something to think about.
As far as the question about you having a child, as annoying as that was, that is a fair question for him to ask. I'm sure you are quite capable of handling it but the school has a right to make sure that you are by asking you about it.
If your accepted, you will get a mailed letter that is signed. You may or may not receive an e-mail notiification in addition. 👍Got the cbc email this morning as well!!!
I pray to God that it's an acceptance 🙂
Does anyone know if they send out emails or letters?
I got the AAMC Background Check Consent Request email also. I interviewed on January 10th
Hoping it's an acceptance also...I'm assuming its from Meharry but I interviewed at a few other schools and haven't gotten final word either.
WOW that question was off the hook. I got some questions at Drexel that I thought were absolutely unacceptable not sexual but just a little too personal...I wish I would have reported it.

Thanks guys for all the great feedback. I have decided I am just not going to worry about the question and let it roll off. Afterall, like supermommd said, in medicine we will always be faced with uncomfortable situations/questions and must remain cool, calm, and collected which is what I was in the interview. So I am just trusting the Lord for a favorable outcome to my interview and moving forward. Godspeed to the rest of the people that have interviews coming up🙂. Meharry really is a great school!
I agree, that is the best thing to do for now, and I appreciate your positive outlook. However, interviewers are not allowed to ask sensitive questions involving medical conditions, disabilities, family related issues, sexual preference etc. The only time they may have the ability to address those topics is if the interviewee says something about it during the interview, or if it is in your personal statement. If so, then it's fair game.
I think the anatomical question was just to see how you would respond in a stressful situation, because patients will say all sorts of out of pocket things (I've heard all sorts of horror stories). The main point is to see if you can keep your cool and smile. My friends who did ended up being accepted. It seems like that was your approach so you shouldn't be too worried 🙂
