Hi,

My AMCAS got transmitted yesterday and I got an e-mail yesterday saying MMC received my AMCAS application but there was no link to a secondary. Does a secondary invite come later or should I just go ahead and complete it from the link I found on SDN?

I got my secondary invite a week later so it will come.

I'm pretty sure they aren't sending out invites until October, so no one knows if they have an interview yet.
 
Do we get complete emails from here, cos i've been done with the secondary since mid August and I haven't been updated on the status, and they dont seem to pick up the phone or respond to emails from that end. :xf:
 
After sending in my secondary, I recieved a email saying I was complete a couple weeks later. You may want to call. I did and the person told me that as they got to them they were in the process of sending the emails out. I was complete 8/30. She told me when I would get an email. I would call.

Thanks for the advice. I double checked my old emails and I did receive an email some time ago saying that I was complete. Thanks again!

You have probably already designated your race and ethnicity on your primary application anyways, of which Meharry must be in receipt if they have asked you for a secondary+picture. You will want to provide them with a nice picture so that they have a face to match with a name at the interviews, and also so they can feel like they are reviewing a real person and not a collection of words on a piece of paper. That is why pics are suggested but not required. Take a pleasant picture to provide to them and don't get unnecessarily worried or worked up about it.

Just got the Secondary! 🙂

but i'm having trouble with the prompt " Why Meharry"

anyone has any ideas? 🙄
 
The application instructions say:Those applicants who attend, or who have recently graduated from an undergraduate institution or a post baccalaureate premedical program which offers a Health Processions Advisor or Advisory Committee, should submit a letter from this person or committee. This letter should be sent to AMCAS as described above. If no such institutional letter is available, the applicant should explain this on the Meharry Medical College Supplemental Application and substitute a minimum of three individual letters (including two from Science professors).

but i don't remember there being a section on the 2dary regarding letters. can anyone shed some light as to where we supposed to mention that our school doesn't have a pre-med committee?
 
I don't remember seeing that in the secondary either, but I think as long as you have at least three LOR's you should be fine.

As long as you send three LOR's then you are good. That section was saying that if your school offers the committee LOR that you should submit it otherwise explain to them why you didnt go with that route.

Still no interviews from here? Hmm I met with their dean of admissions this past summer, and he told me to contact him if I hadn't gotten an interview by September, but since no one else has either, I'm wondering if they're just behind and I should wait a little longer. He did tell me to be patient though because they spend a lot of time going through every part of every person's application, so guess we'll all just have to be patient...

Why do YOU want to go there?

Maybe you should do some research on the school, see if they have any programs or student activities you would be interested in joining. Look at the history and mission statement of the school, that should be a good starting point. Unfortunately, no one on these boards can really help you answer why YOU want to go there, you would have to answer that.

Online status? The only way to know that you are officially complete is when MMC sends you an email saying that you are complete.

Or are you referring to the fact that your payment is confirmed?

I never got the email, but when I called them about it they told me that I was complete and ready for review.

Looking back on last years thread, I guess we might hear news as early as next month.

Hey all,

I know we aren't expecting to hear about interviews for awhile, so this is not likely...but, has anyone sent an "in the area" email/call to Meharry? I've never done it before, so if anyone has tips on the protocol, I would be VERY grateful.

My apologies, yes you are correct. I thought I was completed when I notice the "confirmed" update, but received a complete email a few days later. Sorry for any confusion!
 
hi all I am new to this, I heard meharry usually begins interview invites in october. has anyone heard anything yet? ah so anxious!

Completed secondary early august, complete email late august.
 
Received an invite friday for oct 25th. However, I will be withdrawing my application here tomorrow so I hope this helps one of you still waiting for good news. Best of luck everyone!
 
I have been blessed to recieve an interview for Monday Nov. 1!!! I cannot believe it! :soexcited: Good luck to those still waiting. Now to prepare for the interview!
