Hahaha I hope not - my first interviewer flat out said he knew nothing about football though.
So I have an interview tomorrow at Penn State but just got my acceptance letter to a med school near my house in NY, a school I really wanted to go to. I want to cancel my interview but do you guys think its too late? I'm worried if I do cancel, it might affect me somehow because its a day before. But I'm not in the best positions financially to make the trip down to Penn, especially since I won't go there anyway. Any suggestions?
ha I don't think you can cancel an interview the day of. just withdraw after the interview.
How is withdrawing after any different really? If you go on the interview you might as well wait for the decision.
After another med school (Michigan?) posted a nasty tweet (yes, a med school admissions office which uses Twitter) about an applicant cancelling mere hours before an interview, I thought about what would happen in the situation you're in... I mean, if I were the person scheduled to interview you, I'd much rather have a last-minute cancellation that couldn't be rebooked with another applicant than have to interview someone who has no intention of attending the school. At least that way I could do something productive during that time.
I wouldnt withdraw after actually going to the interview..it seems like a waste to me then. But you're definitely right david06, I don't want to waste their time either. It sounds really bad I know but I just got the acceptance letter an hour ago. I came home and there it was on my desk. I will email them and call them in the morning. I hope they understand! Haha, im kinda paranoid about my canceling affecting my acceptance.
My point was withdraw afterwards. It seems like a10 has their minds set on going to an NY school. I would assume it's just more courteous to show up then withdraw sometime after the interview so that could leave some type of spot open for another applicant. I could understand if this was a day before, but calling on the day of the interview which seems beyond the "last minute" doesn't seem great.
I interviewed 10/18 and haven't heard back yet.

Are you sure they didn't send you an email? My status also says that it is unknown whether or not my application is complete at this time, but they sent me an email saying I was complete a while ago. If you didn't get an email, call the office up...
Quick question. Does a criminal background check mean that you're going to get accepted? It's been 5 weeks for me since I interviewed so I'm not expecting to hear anything yet nor did I get an email about a CBC but I thought I heard somewhere that people get an email about that ~ 1 week before they get accepted.

a CBC means a school accepted you and is proceeding but I think the CBC doesnt happen until January or sometime next year so idk if ppl have gotten emails yet for this cycle. You can get the email before the school notifies you while your letter is in the mail or some but I think the background check starts next year so i wouldnt wait for the email to be the indication of being accepted.

Say hi to this years winner in the "waiting with no decision" category! 12 WEEKS post interview with nothingness in the mail...not an acceptance, rejection, or hold letter. I continue to await my destiny from this most awesome-est of schools. Are there any other thread spies like me with this wait as well? Speak now or I shall forever claim my prize of most gray hairs stemming from this wait.
I think it was about a week and a half... not positive though

16 days after me, and I haven't heard yet.
I finally got a complete email this morning. I submitted on 10/4.

Did anyone by any chance get off the "continue to review" category? Probably not... but felt like trying.
I got one too- I feel like it's the same as GW's... it's possible to get a late interview but not very likely. Still, it's nice that they encourage us to send updates when they don't typically accept them.
I sent an update and here's what I got: "All applications are judged on the original submission. Only official transcripts can be accepted as updates at this time."
Oh well... I tried. Gl!
I was put in the same category, (I'm out of state though)... oh well at least they're telling me that my application is good enough not to be rejected outright.
What do you mean "put in the same category"? For PSU to turn down your updates has nothing to do with your original application...
