2010-2011 PhD/PsyD Interview Invite thread

Why are my schools taking so long to contact anyone? My nerves are growing by the day. Is anyone else in this boat? I guess its better that the schools aren't on the list then they are and I haven't heard anything.

This is my second year applying and my last time. I'm not sure what I'm going to do if I don't get in.
 
Yeah... only one of my 13 schools have contacted people so far. I think a lot will be going out in the next week though (just a guess since a lot of schools have been on break up until now).

I think most people here are nervous or at least anxious for the next few weeks; you are not alone! It's my second shot too and also probably my last; we'll figure it all out, best of luck to ya!

Same exact thing here! Only 1/13 have sent! I based my expectations off of each school's invite dates from last year so I feel a lot should be coming in the next week or two. Good luck!
 
Hey, sorry if I missed this, but is the LIU clinical invite for their Ph.D. or Psy.D. (c.w. post) program?

What's the protocol when more than one school has an interview day on the same day? (Not that this is happening to me. I wish it was.) But, what would one do if they were invited to let's say, George Mason and LIU?
Can't be two places at once, right?

Does anyone konw?

This is actually fairly common and it happened to me last year.

There are a couple ways of going about it. Ideally, you can work with both schools to see if one has an alternate interview day that you can attend. You can also see if one of the schools will arrange an in-person interview on a different day jus for you (this is what I ended up doing.) Most commonly I'd say you will be forced to prioritize and attend the interview at the higher-priority school and schedule a phone interview with the other.

Does anyone else have experiences with this?
 
The first time I applied, I was also invited to two programs' interviews which were scheduled for the same day. I agree with krisrox that this is a common occurrence. My experience was similar to krisrox's in that I had to prioritize the programs, and I chose to attend the interview for the school I was most interested in attending. I scheduled an in-person interview with the other program that invited me to interview for another day.

It's not the end of the world if this happens, though it certainly isn't ideal. Things will work out the way they're supposed to. 🙂

I'm still waiting for all of my schools. Some of the deadlines haven't even passed!! :/

I know... last year's thread said the invites went out on the 7th and 8th, I think. I am hoping that the invites haven't already gone out, although I would assume they will be some time this week. Most schools seem to be sending their invites within a week or so of the dates when they sent invites last year.

Just received an email from the University of Miami's Counseling PhD program saying that interview weekend is going to be March 4, and that they will be notifying applicants if they got an interview by the beginning of February.

Yup. I did everything I could to avoid a conflict last year, but it was inevitable. I ended up visiting one program for my own "interview day" too. It was a tad awkward, but I'm still glad I did it. I felt like I was lucky to have that opportunity... if you can afford it, actually visit the place instead of taking the phone interview.

PS - Don't stress about not hearing yet. IT'S EARLY!! Lots of places don't even tell you until 2 weeks out (or so).
 
Got an interview invite email for John Jay College of Criminal Justice PhD forensic psych. today 1/10. No interview date noted yet. YAYAYAYAY!!
 
I just received an invite from John Jay College of Criminal Justice (CUNY) for the Clinical Forensic Psychology Doctoral Program (PhD). The invite was sent via email from the Program Assistant. Interview is on 02/04.

Yours had a date? mine just said they will send a second email noting the date.

I also applied to U Miami's counseling program, but did not receive an email. Did others receive this email?
 
Last Friday I got a call from my POI from Kent State (clinical) setting up an interview. Today, I got a call from my POI at Purdue (counseling) setting up an interview. 🙂
 
Can the people who have heard from University of Utah and PennState PM me their POIs? I would appreciate it so much! Thanks!!
 
Received an email from the Chair of Clinical Admissions for an interview at University of Michigan--Ann Arbor, Feb. 17-19. Clinical PhD

They also said they'd reimburse up to $300 for flights, and will provide overnight accommodation with a grad student. I thought clinical programs were known to be pretty stingy about funding your trip there!
 
University of Miami sent out an email today stating their interview date, and when they would begin notifying people regarding interviews. I applied but received no email. Should I call the school this week?

Yes.. would also love to hear about POI from the Penn State person, and whether the interview was sent out from the poi or from the department. Thanks!

I didn't get that email either, I also applied...
 
If the person with the Washington University phone interview wouldn't mind messaging me their POI that would be great! Congrats as well!
 
Hi, could the person who got the call from their UNC POI PM me to let me know who it was? I'm obsessively checking email/voicemail/and this thread waiting to hear hope or no hope from UNC as well as Duke

Me too! OSU is like my top school 🙁 I'm interested in how they received the invite and any other pertinent info. Thanks!

The effects of a site like this, offering intermittent rewards/punishments, on different personality-trait types would make for an interesting research study...
 
First time poster, long time stalker. Can someone direct me to this years counseling/clinical invite thread on gradcafe? I'm having trouble finding it. Thanks in advance. Now if you excuse me its been 15 minutes since I've checked my phone and email, and I feel a fixed interval scallop coming on 😀

Hi everyone
What can one expect from a phone interview? Do POIs typically ask questions about your application, and if so what types of questions are common? Thanks in advance!

Just heard from my POI at U of Toronto... very happy! Recruitment/interview day is March 4th.

Now I know it's actually possible to get an interview at these psych programs.

Hi. I don't think they are. I got an email from the dept secretary b/c something was missing from my file and they said that they were just now looking. Last year calls were made to applicants 3x prior to interviews. I'd give it a couple more weeks.
