2010-2011 PhD/PsyD Interview Invite thread

I've heard from the graduate secretary that Texas Tech Counseling program will be reviewing applications the week of January 10th.

Pepperdine Univ said they will be sending out invites in 2 weeks (at the earliest).
 
Also, UNLV clinical said not until the 1/17 at the earliest.

Keep your fingers crossed for the rest of us. I am getting so tired of waiting :scared: Just tryin to be patient but not working so well anymore.

I feel the same way! I haven't heard a thing and time is dragging along. It doesn't help that I'm on break from classes and terribly bored!

There is nothing quite as effective as a variable-ratio reinforcement schedule to get people clicking the refresh buttons on their web browsers... 😀

Does anyone feel that last year more schools contacted people in December? (I know I could go through and count, but I'd rather NOT verify). Hehe. Does that mean a lot of invites have gone out that haven't made their way to this thread, or are schools just slower this year due to break schedules, or what?

Getting an invite does not make it easier! Before, I felt that it was great I got an invite, now as time dredges on I feel that if I don't get an invite from each school I applied to, I failed. It's super intimidating.

I hope each and everyone of us find the right school and love our career decisions for next Fall. Just applying and putting yourself through the process shows dedication, preserverence, and commitment. So congrats to all!!! This is a daunting process, and not many would even go through it in the first place.
 
Hi You can add this one to the thread - I received an interview invitation via email from Alliant International's PsyD program on December 16.
 
I haven't heard anything either. I hope the schools will notify everyone once interview invites are sent out. It's pretty scary to wait for nothing until we call and ask.

Anyway...need to refocus on what I am supposed to be doing. I start to wonder what it means by having no news at this ponit.

yeah i'm getting pretty anxious now too.... damn. I got to focus on a scholarship application that due Feb 1st.

Just updated list. Congrats to all who got recent invites!

I am so happy because I received an invite for one of my top POIs and it happened to be my first invite of any school 😀 I'm ending the day on such a happy note! Funny how one little e-mail can make your day so much brighter...
 
I noticed this too when I was looking at last year's thread. It does indeed seem like more schools sent out invites in December last year than this year. I'm guessing that schools are a little slower this year due to break timing and that the many places will be sending their invites in the coming weeks.

I don't think that not getting an invite to every school is failing. As many people on here have mentioned, it only takes one school to accept you! +1 for all of us deserving kudos for putting ourselves though this process. Here's to May when we will all know our fates :xf:

Thank you to everybody who is keeping us informed as far as interviews, and congratulations! Tomorrow I will surely be on the edge of my seat, hoping to hear from UVM. If anybody else receives an invite from there, please send me your POI, and I will let you know mine. Good luck to everybody during this stressful time 🙂

ClinChildPsy13, would it be neurotic to ask what time of day you usually update the interviews on the main page? I understand that you may update at different times of the day as it's convenient, and if so that's totally cool and thanks for updating us! I'm just asking because I'm constantly checking this thread looking for updates and it would be good to know if you update, say, at night after you've heard from everybody for the day or at various times depending. If you usually update at similar times, I'll know when to check but if it differs, then I'll just continue to check multiple times a day like a crazy person! Haha just thought I'd ask about this.

And ClinChildPsy13, congrats on your first interview! That's exciting 🙂. And congrats to everyone else whose gotten interviews, too, and best of luck to the rest for your schools to get their acts together! 🙂

Congratulations!

I received a call from UCSB back in December inviting for an interview. Yesterday I also received an email from another professor at UCSB who said I was on his "short list" and hoped to meet me if our schedules permit while I am in town for the interview. Is that a common occurrence?

I just received a message inviting me to interview at Northwestern-Feinberg (my first invite, yay!). What questions are appropriate for me to ask when I call back to accept the invitation?

No, not neurotic but I'm afraid there isn't a set time. During the workweek, I aim to update list between 8-10pm everyday if I have received PMs. If I happen to have extra time in the morning or during work hours, I try to update it then too since I know you all are anxiously waiting to hear. But I'm not always able to get on before/during work, it just depends on the day. So I would say by 10PM M-F if you are trying to only check this website once a day...

Weekends I generally have more time, so posting varies. I can aim to make the weekend posts by 10PM - but I generally try to post them as they come in on the weekends since I check e-mail more and since I know you all want to know asap! If it would be helpful, I can either post a note to you all every time I update throughout day.

Did you note both of them as potential POIs in your statement? It does seem a little unusual, but I don't think it can hurt to have 2 POIs interested in you 😀 Way to go!

This is my second time applying and I'm starting to get very nervous! None of the schools I thought I had a real chance at are listed yet but this process is extremely nerve wracking!

Thanks, ClinChildPsy13 for that info about when you usually update the list! I'll be sure to keep an eye out around 10 PM on weekdays and periodically on the weekends. No need to update us every time you update the list throughout the day, but thanks for the offer!

Hello, Just joined the forums so that I could add to the discussion that I've been following so closely the past few weeks.

I recieved an invited via mass e-mail from the department head to interview at the University of Louisville (Clinical Psych PhD).

Also wondering if those who have received invites from UConn and Stony Brook might pm me the name of their POI... I'm really getting nervous about those at this point!!

Do Clinical PhD invites go out before Counseling PhD ones? Is this the norm, does anyone know? Congrats to those who've heard something.

Well, personally I'd love some advice but I think it would probably be overly onerous for you to have to respond to the dozens of anxious people lurking on this site like me! :laugh:. Could we simply have an open thread instead so everyone can see your advice? I don't think that one exists already, since I did a search and nothing seemed relevant. (Though if I missed it, I would love to be proved wrong!)

Congrats to everyone receiving interview invites. If possible could those receiving an invite from U of Utah PM me your POI and how you received the invite. Much appreciated, and good luck to everyone in the upcoming months as we are all sitting on pins and needles.
