2010-2011 PhD/PsyD Interview Invite thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Good idea. On GradCafe, someone reports receiving a school Psy.D. request from Rutgers on the 8th, so maybe something got last in translation here? That's why it's good for people to pm the coordinator with all of the details. I'm just saying. 🙄

Oooh that makes sense. I wonder if the Rutgers site states when the school psych interview is scheduled

Is Yeshiva and Long Island U, CW Post still sending out invites?

I'm still waiting on Rutgers and Hofstra for Psy.Ds >_<;; Nervous! Thank goodness MSPP sent one early 🙂

Invite received today for interview this Saturday!

Anyone going taking LIRR out there by any chance? Or could any current students on here shed some light on the frequency of the N20 bus from the train station to campus?

I'm interviewing there Saturday too. 🙂 I was going to take the LIRR, but I decided to drive instead. It's only an hour drive for me, and the email said there would be parking... I hope that's true. When I tried to go to the open house, I got stuck in so much traffic that I missed it! Good luck, and maybe see you Saturday!! :luck:

For those of us waiting to hear from UNM...

I called the psych dept this morning:

The faculty has started to review completed applications, but the process has been delayed due to three days of school cancellation last week. So, not all interview invites have been extended. Interview date is set for early March.

I have a question on schools with multiple interview dates (e.g., Syracuse, Binghamton). Are these schools inviting more students to interview between the two dates than other programs do? Typically schools invite 25-30 students, are these schools inviting these numbers per interview so almost 50 total to interview? Just interested in seeing if competition is then more fierce at schools with multiple dates for interviews

Congrats on the invite! Driving will probably be alright on a Saturday, especially if you will be there for the morning. Good luck and maybe see you there!

Has anybody heard anything from U Arizona? I haven't seen anything listed on here yet, nor have I seen anyone even mention the school/program.....

Has anyone received an invite from UNCG yet?

Their website says their interviews are the 25th and 28th, but I have not heard of them handing out any invites yet.

That's interesting, I thought this invites had been extended by now. Seems like uncertainty about UNC-G has been going on for a while.

Just want to say - everyone whose still waiting to hear from schools, I think you should consider yourselves lucky. I shouldn't be hearing from any schools anymore because all the schools have extended invites by now, and I am kind of bored. It's a quite different feeling without the anticipation of "maybe I'll hear from a school today, maybe I won't". Maybe that's just me, but the application process, while stressful, has made life a bit more exciting. On the flip side, without having to refresh this forum and my email constantly, it leaves me more time for work... although I think the extra time has really gone to Solitaire actually.

Has anyone heard from Rosalind Franklin or University of colorado at Denver (health phd) or know anything about these two programs?

So I have been reading that some of you have been getting phone calls/emails from St. Johns about the open house? I know it doesn't have anything to do with the interviews (for clinical psych phd) but I also applied to St Johns and not heard ANYTHING, including confirmation of application materials.

I called the Grad office this morning and the lady basically told me point blank she wouldn't check on whether or not they got my documents. Then she also told me St. Johns wouldn't be extending invites until "late march or early april". WTF? Aren't all the clinical phd programs supposed to be done with admissions DECISIONS by early april? Does anybody know anything about this silliness??

And also if you've been emailed or called by the program, were you notified about your application materials being received at all, or like did you check off a "contact me with additional information" button the app or something? Cuz i am kind of worried that they have not contacted me at all....thanks for your help!

Gradcafe shows 3 people got invites for UNR yesterday...does anybody know if they sent out all invites yesterday or if there is still hope for those of us who didn't get one?

I also received a call about the open house email. They did not mention anything about my application status in the phone call. They only called to confirm that I had received the email and was aware that the open house did not take the place of interviews.

Looking at last year's thread, St. John's extended invites on 2/16 and 2/18. So if they follow last year's schedule, we should hear something next week.

UNCG: I received an invite from my UNCG POI on 1/28... he said the admissions committee had made clinical psych interview invite decisions that day.

U Arizona: I know someone heading down to AZ tomorrow for a clinical psych interview... looks like those of us who haven't heard back from UA might be out of luck.

Was curious if anyone has heard recently from Widener, PGSP or Pacific University. I have already hear back from and have and interview with Univ. of Denver but am getting high blood pressure from anticipating invitations or rejection letters. :help:

Thanks for any info and good luck to everybody!

Hi
I just wanted everyone to know university of Cincinnati is done extending invites. I talked to someone there and they said they had 350 applicants and have notified the 10-25 students they wish to interview yesterday.

I'm majorly bummed as this was my first choice.

Name of School: Nova Southeastern University
How invite was received: e-mail or call (from whom): individualized email
Date invite was received: 2/9
Type of Program: Clin, Counsel, School: Clinical
Degree Type: Ph.D., Psy.D., Combined: PsyD
Interview Date: 3/4/11

Has anyone else attending one of the interview dates at LIU CW Post requested to stay with a student? Would you mind PMing me and letting me know what happened? I haven't heard back yet (it's been 3 days), and I am wondering how long I should wait before trying to make other arrangements. I'm getting anxious to finalize my plans since the interview is less than a week away, but I would really like to stay with a student if possible. Thanks!

Just received interview invite #4... after zero last year, it feels great 😀

UMBC Clinical Psychology PhD program - received from POI, and apparently they'll be extending invites through the end of the week, so don't give up hope if you haven't heard yet 🙂 Interview dates 3/3-3/4

Was this for Clinical? Who did you talk to? Cinci was my first choice too, and one of two school's I was still waiting to hear from.

Which program at Univ of Denver?

I received an invite to Univ. of Missouri-Kansas City (clinical phd) yesterday. Interview is scheduled for 3/4.

Would those who have received invites from UMBC please pm me their POI? Thanks and good luck!

Congrats teebee! I am very interested in UMBC as well but have not heard anything today. Do you mind PMing me who your POI is? Thanks!!

teebee, that's great news! Congrats!! 😀 What do you think you did differently this year than last year when applying? How did you make your app stronger? Thanks!!

Sorry I should have been more specific, Clinical PsyD.
When did you hear from them? As of Friday, they were still reviewing applications, and I have yet to hear anything from them!

I called Rutgers PsyD today--the assistant sounded like she was kinda frustrated, but she said that the interview date is Feb 28th. I tried asking her about when invitations would start going out, but she said that if she told me then she would have a ton of phone calls (which makes me think it's gotta be soon!) So...keeping our fingers crossed at the moment! 🙂:xf:

I got a call on 1/24 and have an interview on 2/26 which is part of the reason that I am biting my nails for the other programs.

I am glad to hear they are still reviewing apps though since that livens my hopes for other programs that we all haven't heard from, especially since they had such an early application due date.

Keep your fingers crossed!

Ok, I just wanted to check and see if you got a call more recently than that, as I saw that initial post awhile back 🙂 It makes me so nervous, though, when invites are so spaced out.. then again, I did submit my app late to the program (it was sort of a last minute decision), so I guess I can't complain too much! Is Denver one of your top choices?

Ok so as I begin I will preface my post with this, some of you will maybe be upset with my rant and feel as if I am being selfish or bragging in some way; I assure you i am not. The reason for this post, is that I honestly am not sure what to do. So if this upsets you, stop reading or ignore it; however if you honestly have some thoughts or experience with this, let me know. I'm surely not the first to encounter such a dilemma.
So I have been offered a spot at one of my top 3 schools, very exciting. The issue comes that I am now holding this offer and have three interviews next weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Monday) then my top choice on the following Friday. I have already booked all travel. So now that I have the three next weekend (only one being a top choice), I am uncertain if I should even go on the trip next weekend and only go to my final interview which is my top choice on the following Friday. Because I booked everything through priceline's name your own price (which rocks), I cannot change my plan or cancel and get a refund in any way, therefore I will be out the money completely. So I could go and get experience and network but I'm really not as interested in the programs anymore with the exception of the Monday interview.
I know this is a rant but I honestly am not sure what to do. grrrr.

And I know what you mean! 🙂 I have an interview in Cali on the 25th, so when I saw the interview dates for Denver, I didn't know if I should book a one-way or not! The program assistant told me that they're going to have interview dates in March, though, as well..

Oh no!!! I didn't get a call 🙁((

I would suggest going to all of the interviews you have committed to. As you said, you've already spent the money on the travel. So what's it hurt? And you never know, you may end up really liking a program you didn't expect to like as much as your top choice. If I have learned anything throughout this whole process, it is that things change!

Whether you go or not, the money has been spent. You can't let the $$ affect your decision.

If you needed the practice for interviewing, that would be one thing, but since you already have an offer, clearly you don't. Congrats on that!

I say just go to your top choice, and inform the other programs that you will not be coming. This gives the potential opportunity for a waitlisted applicant to experience the full interview process at a school that might be their top choice.

If you wanted to list the cities, it is possible that someone else might need a hotel room for the dates you have booked, and you could always just add their name to the reservation so they could check in and just pay you directly.

I have an interview next week, and still haven't booked my room, and would guess others have not as well.

thank you for this! I hate waiting, just want to hear and get it over with

on another note, does anyone know if cwpost clinical psyd is done sending out invites? still had hopes of hearing from them

how about lasalle?

I got the same call from St. Johns. It was the same content as the email sent the other day, letting us know that the Open House is NOT an interview for the Clinical Psych program, and that invites for interviews would come from the department.

Ah, St. Johns, please stop calling/emailing unless its about an invite...
Amen to this. I've been getting more & more emails from St. John's, and each time I freak out hoping it'll be THE ONE I've been hoping for. My nerves are shot already! Good luck to you guys too.

My advice would be to review the programs at these upcoming schools again to make sure they're not worth considering. Sometimes, the in-person interview can completely change your mind about a program - there's only so much you can learn from a school's website. If there's any chance you might still be interested in those schools, you should go, because one of those might end up surprising you with how great of a fit it might be for you. But, if you really feel that the current acceptance offer and the top choice interview school next Friday are the best two, and you don't think there's any way you'd have interest in the other ones, it might make sense for you to call them and tell them you are no longer interested in interviewing due to your recent offer. There are probably many other people on wait-lists at those alternate schools who consider those schools to be their top choice, so by withdrawing, you might give others the opportunity to interview in your place. Hope that helps - good luck with your decision and CONGRATS on your acceptance offer!!

Congratulations to everyone who has received interviews and acceptances.

I am still waiting on Pepperdine C. PsyD, Yeshiva C. PsyD, Hofstra, and GWU PsyD. Remaining hopeful in this arduous process.
Hopefully hear for the rest in the next week or two.

At least I have once acceptance, right? I am thankful for that!

Is there a point in going to this St. John's open house? Will it give anyone a better shot at an interview or is it purely informational?

So I got an email today from U Miami Ohio saying this:

"Thank you for your interest in Graduate School at Miami University! We received your online application, so you are now on your way!"

and some other stuff... but what the HECK? That application was due on December 1. It is now 2/9.

Did anyone else get this?
