My status changed today also - Accepted! I interviewed 3/1/11 at St. Luke's. The acceptance message does not specify St. Luke's campus -- Will I receive a letter/email that specifies the campus I was accepted at?

Congratulations! And yes, you should get a letter/big envelope soon. The letter will have your campus location on it.

Interviewed 3/8 at St. Luke's. Status changed yesterday to "accepted." Hope to see a letter or email soon. Good luck to the rest of you.
😀

ah congrats to all of you. i look forward to the day i get my response, whenever that may be

Does anyone know if they require us to send in our tax return/W2 info? They never explicitly ask for it anywhere (including in the applying for financial aid sheet they gave us).

you do have to send in your tax forms...it says it on the financial aid website.

hummm... why do they need our tax forms if we filed FAFSA?

oh wait nevermind, i see where they specified this. has anyone received their SAR yet? i wouldn't know if i did, because they probably mailed it to my parent's house.

Hey guys, good luck to everyone trying to get into Temple. I'm a fourth year year at Jefferson (for a few more weeks anyways) and am going to Drexel for residency next year (both in Philly, along with Temple). Feel free to shoot my any questions or anything you may have if you end up getting accepted there, even if its about life in Philly.

And...if you do get accepted (to Temple or one of the other Philly schools)...I'm also looking to recruit male med students for a scientific project I'm involved in. The project pays extremely well (in the ball park of being able to pay your rent with beer money left over) and takes up only a half hour a week.

Best of luck with your apps!

Hey Guys,

Has anyone received a more detailed acceptance packet yet (aside from the offer letter and the attached paper regarding criminal background check, transcript, and the need to fill out the Penn child abuse form).

Anyone know / care to speculate about the waitlist movement this year?

If I interviewed way back in November , do I even have a shot?
Seems like the people waitlisted later in the season have a better shot?

it is likely that most waitlist movement will happen in may or after, based on information i've gathered from reading these forums. my guess is the stronger waitlisted candidates will be offered first, rather than those who have been waitlisted more recently

Have any accepted students heard anything in the financial aid front recently? The latest I've heard is that we should get our fin aid packages by mid-May, but that was as of two weeks ago, so idk if there's an update.

Hey! I got a "Poliner Scholarship". Anyone have any info on this? I can't find much online.

if anyone is interested, i checked my status today. "correspondence sent"

other late interviewees you may have been updated as well

Congratulations.

Through which method (your own e-mail account, temple's email account, phone call, letter in the mail...) did Temple notify you of this? I've been trying all different sorts of ways to look up my financial aid information.

Thanks. I got an email Thursday saying that I needed to accept it within 14 days. It was pretty unexpected

I also received an email Thursday notifying me of scholarships that I have 14 days to accept. I too tried to find information about them and have no idea what they mean...if you find out anything let me know.

For those who were accepted, does anyone know where I can obtain more information regarding pre-orientation materials we should send in before we matriculate? I'm looking everywhere on the webpages and haven't found much of anything.
I wish they gave us a checklist or something.

withdrew, good luck to all those on the waiting list! 🙂

Anyone else still waiting to hear from Financial Aid? We have less than a week left to decide, and my information is still not up on the website...

I was complete before the priority deadline (March 1st) and have not heard anything about financial aid. I just called and received some incredibly confusing information from Student Financial Services. I'm gonna call admissions now to see if they're any help..

I'm pretty sure everybody is in the same boat as you. Very frustrating

If I don't hear back from Temple by Thursday, I'm withdrawing. This is really ridiculous. I tried calling and e-mailing both offices, but they have not yet replied. All I got from Temple's admission office was that they are increasing Tuition from last year.

I don't know how they expect people to make a decision like this when they don't know how much everything is going to cost. Not all of us will disregard 77 thousand dollars a year when they have more affordable options. I'm surprised the admissions committee hasn't said anything to the financial aid office, because they must lose a lot more students due to their financial aid setup than they should.

Yeah I called financial aid. Main campus said they don't know, and to ask medical school financial aid. Called them, and the medical school financial aid said they don't know, and to ask the main campus financial aid 😕

Edit: Just withdrew! I don't think I am an East Coast kinda guy 🙂 I did include a comment about financial aid in my withdrawal e-mail, so hopefully that does something for you guys!

Called financial aid...we have like a few days to decide and haven't gotten anything. I really kind of want to go here but I can't commit to a school where I literally have heard nothing.. No one can even tell me when approximately I can expect an answer either....

Ugh, time to withdraw I think - or maybe wait another day.

Yea it doesn't make any sense. I haven't gotten replies either. I've almost decided on another school but was open to changing my mind based on financial aid (I'm IS).

On another note, I have been trying to upload update letters to the Send Us Stuff link on the website but I haven't been getting any confirmation on if they have been uploading properly. When I click upload, the file just disappears. I'm not sure if that means it has submitted properly. Anyone else having this issue? I tried calling the office but they haven't been answering. Thanks in advance.

FWIW, when I talked to them today I was told that someone involved in the financial aide packages for the medical students has been out on a prolonged sick leave.

I know that doesn't really help, and it's far from an adequate excuse, but that's the deal, or at least part of it. Someone should be picking up the slack or they should have hired a temp. I'm going to Temple anyway but it's utter BS that everyone else that needs to make a decision by Sunday are hanging.

FYI, I just got two emails from Temple. I'm going to read more into them now, but check your inboxes.

So I guess it means no financial aid (except loans) unless you've separately gotten a scholarship? 🙁

Is there an updated link for what the final costs will be like for next year (I found one for this year), in terms of total COA, tuition, etc?

It's on tmo.temple.edu under "Tuition Deposit" labeled Tentative 2011-2012 Medical School Budget. It's not too pretty.

hey future temple students

if you are planning on living off campus, i wanted to tell you about an awesome apartment building i found in center city. its a historic building that was just completely renovated to have a modern feel, everything inside is brand new, and each unit has brand new stainless steel appliances (including fridge and dishwasher), hardwood floors, central heat/ac, and a washer/dryer in every unit. the building has a 24 hour doorman and discounted parking across the street.

1 bedrooms start at $1350/month and 2 bedrooms are $2200+

they are currently doing a special for med students where you get $1000 rent credit and one month free if you sign a 13 month lease (which really cuts the monthly cost down if you average it out).

PM me if you want more info

just an FYI to those of us on the waitlist. i called the other day just to chat it up basically and ask some questions, and the admissions lady said temple does not rank the waitlist. the adcom meets periodically again (when ,she didnt know) to rereview ppl and whatnot. which IIRC is contrary to the belief on this thread.

Thanks for the solid intel. I guess we can look for Fridays to be potential movement days.

They flat-out told us the WL was ranked at my interview day, but they don't tell students their rank (I guess because they don't follow it strictly). Whichever. Good luck to you guys!

any speculations on the waitlist movement this year? around how many people did they accept off the waitlist in the past?

well i guess noone really knows anything for sure. regardless, we still have the same chance getting in off the waitlist whether ranked or not. so its whatever. but thanks, for the good luck! i hope it comes!

They seemed to suggest a fair amount of WL movement before, but how much, I'm not sure. Temple isn't cheap, especially for OOS, so I'm sure a lot of people withdraw in favor of a less expensive option.

How do they notify wl acceptances? The website? Snail mail? Phone?

TMO status update and an email. Less than a week later I got an acceptance letter and packet in the mail.
