Hi All,

Congrats to all those who have been accepted to Temple, and good luck to those still waiting to hear! I am a Drexel Med alumna and am renting out my condo. I have lived there for 7 years throughout med school and residency, and honestly feel that it is the ideal place to live during med school. It is super convenient to school, downtown Philly, and Manayunk (where there are fabulous restaurants, shopping, and bars). My condo is also the perfect place for quiet studying. Please see the link below for more info and PM me with any questions!

Good luck!

TMO status update and an email. Less than a week later I got an acceptance letter and packet in the mail.

What did your TMO status update say? My status is currently "correspondence sent". I'm not sure if that's the same status I had when Temple put me on the wait list in November...

I believe it just said "Accepted". "Correspondence sent" is the standard WL message, I believe. :xf: that it changes for you!

hmmm...it is friday...this thread has been awfully quiet...COME ON ADCOM..DO SOMETHING!! (preferably call me, others too, but most importantly me)

word. has anyone heard anything about waitlist movement at Temple? I haven't seen any on this thread but has anyone heard of a friend/acquaintance who has gotten in off the waitlist???

There was suppose to be an email sent out regarding a TUSM 2015 class blog where we can interact with other potential med students. Did anyone receive such an email yet?

There was an email to notify us of some updates on TMO, like the Carpool and Roommate spreadsheets, but the blog isn't up.

That said, there's the FB group if you want to join it. I think if you search for Temple University School of Medicine Class of 2015 on FB you'll find it. Unless that was you that I just added, then you clearly didn't need any help to find it.

+1

I was CCL'ed in late November. Interviewed late October. OOS (CA) applicant. Sent 2 letters of interest via the online application system post-CCL.

Congrats to acceptees and good luck to fellow waitlistees! 🙂

I think he was just stating that he is still waiting if I am not mistaken?

According to last year's thread it seems like they just take a while get their wait list together and ready to go. I'm sure they'll have a lot of movement once they actually start.

Hey guys. I interviewed way back in november but if I remember correctly, they said they were increasing the class size this year. I know its usually ~180, does anyone know what they said the class size this year was going to be?

210, but its factoring in 30 of the students being at St. Lukes though.

I interviewed in Feb. and was wait listed. I applied late. I finished my secondary in January. I sent an update letter and letter of intent. Is there anything else I can do?

Anyone else have a feeling that the CCList isnt moving because of the financial aid delay that people experienced and are choosing to delay their withdrawal and forfeit the deposit which in the grand scheme of things, is miniscule? or do you think they just over accepted more than we expected

Last year's CC list moved similarly slow.

waitlist movement is dead.

Anyone else try to call admissions office?
They just tell me they know nothing about the movement.

Hang in there waitlisters! They've been a bit slower with posting things/emailing info than they said they would originally, so hopefully there will be some good waitlist movement too coming soon. :luck:

My guess would be Audrey Uknis since she's the Associate Dean of Admissions and I'm pretty sure is the one that signs the acceptance letter (along with your faculty interviewer). At the very least, it's her signature at the bottom of the copy of the acceptance letter at TMO. Good luck!

Any suggestions on who to email letters of interest to? I've been emailing [email protected] but would like to send it straight to someone if possible. Not sure who though since there are a few different people.

I just uploaded my letters on the online portal. I believe that is what they are suggesting us to do.

The faculty interviewer signs it too? Does this mean that the he/she has a final say in whether in applicant is accepted?

Shoot I think I am toast with Temple then, I think I left a bad impression with my faculty interviewer.

We moved a month ago, and I'm not quite sure how much of a say they have (I would think they are supposed to advocate for you to the rest of the adcom) but I'm pretty sure my interviewer signed my acceptance letter as well.

my faculty interview apparently quit his job at the admissions soon after i interviewed with him. fml.

i see that no one has posted about getting off the waitlist themselves but has anyone know someone or heard of someone getting off the waitlist at temple??? i haven't heard anything!

I hope Temple waitlist isn't moving because they are just slow this year...

And not because there are no spots open.

My interviewer signed mine.

from what I have heard, they are actually full, that is why they "aren't" moving. I think most med schools are full, for some reason or another. I think maybe since the economy and such is so bad, every one tried to do their best for med skool. Like people with great academic rankings were like might as well instead of doing other jobs because of the stability of the profession and the pay. Who knows, it could even be that people are lousy with their withdrawals. Some might be waiting on other waitlists and are just holding their spot so they are atleast going to medical school. It sucks but patience is a virtue supposedly ha

Couldn't hurt to send a letter of intent in that case. You'll go if you're accepted... they don't have to know they're your last hope. 😉

Good luck!

do you think it is to your benefit or not if you tell a school they are your last hope?

I am waitlisted at Jefferson and Temple but anything I can do to bump my chances would be great!

I'm not sure about that. Might be worth searching the forums for, or posting on Pre-Allo proper if you can't find an answer.

IMO, if you just say, "I'll absolutely go here if accepted," the adcom will see that as a positive. I feel like if you point out that everyone else has rejected you, well... how would you feel if someone asked you out and told you that everyone else had shot them down, so now they're asking you, KWIM? If the school IS your last hope, there's no dishonesty in sending a letter of intent, which means you will go there if accepted.

All that said, I have not been stuck in waitlist limbo so I might be off and it might actually help you, which is why I suggested the search. 🙂

I wouldn't say its your last hope, I just think that sends the wrong message. I would just let Dr. Callahan that you will come if a space opens up for you. And also update on her on what you are up toi if you havent already,.

Make sure you only send something to Dr. Callahan if you're sending to Jefferson! But yes, both Callahan and Brooks stressed letting the school know of your continued interest if you're waitlisted. Probably address it to Dr. Uknis for Temple. 🙂

Possibly helpful thread: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=50676 Also, check out alwaysangel's MDApplicants page. She's got some tips for LoIs and getting off a WL.

o yes haha. I thought I was on the jeff thread for some reason. definitely don't make that mistake.

Understood. My problem with temple was that I applied so late I feel but what saved me were all my update letters.

has anyone tried calling the admissions office to ask about the wait list recently? apparently there has been WL movement but it's been slow...

looks like the whole quick waitlist theory at temple was wrong so far lol

I was just under the assumption that their waitlist moved a decent amount because of price and whatnot but haven't really heard anything yet about it moving.

I don't like the way this school handles its waitlist. First, they congratulate you on getting waitlisted. Second, they waitlist everyone they don't accept. Third, they overaccept like crazy so waitlist movement is minimal.

I feel the exact same way. And they don't tell you anything about movement or where you are on the waitlist.

i just got off the waitlist this afternoon! - i got the call around 3:30. i've been planning on going to drexel and now i'm feeling really confused about what to do/where to go. i was wondering if there are any current students who could talk a bit (either in PM or in a post) about their experience at temple med: likes, dislikes, and if they have any insight comparing the two programs. thanks!
