is it true that med schools are not allowed to send acceptance letters before October 18th?? I'm so confused... I haven't gotten anything yet. No phone calls, no e-mails... nothing!

The blackout date ends on October 15, which is why everyone's so anxiously waiting. Me too, I was hoping for some news today.

Interviewing on Tuesday! Super excited, from everyone here I can tell its gonna be a good day. Anyone else interviewing on the 19th? :woot:
 
are we supposed to get e-mails too? If I didn't get a phone call by now.. should I expect rejection??? ughhhh I'm really nervous.... 🙁

i'm really nervous too. but i wouldn't give up hope...last year they made the first round of acceptance calls over two days...and today was sunday, so unlikely that they're working today. i also think its a good sign that only one person has posted an acceptance here. surely there would have be more posts here if all the acceptances had gone out...right? haha. let's just hang on till tomorrow! good luck everyone! =)

when did you have your interview? Mine was on the 21st, Tuesday... May be they are calling people by what date they interviewed?? ughhh....I'm gonna be sitting by my phone/computer all day tomorrow... 🙁

mine was on the 21st too! i guess i've met you then, haha =) and yes, i had the same thought - so hopefully they'll get to us tomorrow!

I was told emails will be sent out early this week, so I think Monday will be a safe bet. I'm surprised no one else has posted an acceptance... I wouldn't worry too much since the calls are given by the dean personally, and I interviewed on the first day, so it's very likely I was part of a short list to get an answer on Saturday. Keep your hopes up. 🙂
 
Hey, I interviewed with ace and panda too (first day, september 15). I got the call from the dean on saturday too, and he said that emails and snail mail notifications were going out on Monday. Hope this helps!

For anyone interested in moving up their interview at Tufts I just canceled mine on Nov. 2. Good Luck!!!
 
Any Tufts Maine-Track interviewees heard from the Dean yet?

I got the same thing. I wouldn't worry, if they wanted to reject or waitlist us, they would have. Last year's thread shows that several people were waitlisted in the first round of decisions, so I think it's better to still be under active consideration.
 
I called the admissions office and apparently they do not put people on their waiting list until next year. The lady said deferred applicants will continue to be reviewed.. but I'm worried that she is just saying that to keep our hope up, and what they actually do is have deferred applications in a separate file and don't bother to look at them again.... Does anybody know how many are accepted after being deferred?
 
Complete August 26th, sent in an update in September and still nothing. I think it's a silent rejection. </3

Not that I expected much from Tufts but STILL, damn it, I want to live in Boston. 😡
 
Does anyone know whether or not Tufts looks at In the area emails favorably?

I sent them an email about it earlier this week. This was their response:

"Dear Applicant,
Thank you for your update message and for your interest in Tufts University School of Medicine.
TUSM Admissions"

I sent in an update letter and got the exact same response.
 
I just got an email from the director of admissions...they'll be sending out letters for October interviews late this week :xf: and good luck everyone!!

Just got that email too! AHHHHH! So nervous/excited!! This is def. one of my top choices!

Did you guys that interviewed in Sept/got a decision in October get this email?

For those of you who send in update letters, what did you guys put? i want to send in one too but I haven't really been working recently. I don't work in a lab anymore although I still volunteer. I feel that sending a letter saying "Hey, I still volunteer 5 hours a week" is kinda lame. What do u guys think?

Personally, I would only send in an update letter if there is something "materially significant/different" from your application's listed activities. that is to say, if you've started a new activity that is worth mentioning or different from what is on your application, then mention it in your letter, otherwise I wouldn't send anything if it's "I am still doing 1,2,3-all things already on your application".

Just my two cents. Good luck with the process/catching their attention!

i got that email as well...do you think if we don't get phone calls by the end of this week that we are rejected/waitlisted?

I think once they start giving out acceptance calls somebody will probably post. From that point I'd give it two days until you should start worrying about being waitlisted/rejected.

Also, for the last acceptance round they sent out this same "letters to be sent" email about three days before any acceptances went out. Accordingly, I don't expect the acceptance calls will start until Friday or so...at least that is what I'm telling myself to avoid worrying. 🙂

Sure seems that way =/ went to college in Boston and would love love love to be back in Beantown, but I guess we just have to wait and see!

For those who submitted updates, how long did it take the admissions office to reply to the email?

When I interviewed (in early October) they told us we could expect to hear back at some point in the first two weeks of November. So originally I wasn't expecting to hear anything until November 15th...thinking once a month (i.e. Oct. 15th, Nov. 15th, Dec. 15th...etc.) made sense as a release schedule.Then this Tuesday I got the email stating the decision letters were to be mailed late this week. As such, I assume the decisions have already been made.

To answer your question, it appears Tufts makes releases more than just once a month, and rather apparently provides decisions every 2 weeks or so. This being said, I honestly have no definite insight into the workings of the AdCom and basically we're just going to have to wait for the call/letter to know our fate... 🙂 good luck everyone!
 
has anyone been accepted to the maine track? i got a deferral notice yesterday, but it makes sense that they would wait a bit longer before filling precious few spots.

That is EXACTLY how I felt before I got that email. Now it's just being thrust upon us 😱 Oh well, all we can do is hope and wait...

Sorry to hear about the deferral and hopefully it will be followed by an acceptance! I interviewed early October for the Maine Track and haven't heard back yet. Do you mind sharing interview date and stats?

I'm hoping they make calls today like they did on Sat. Oct.16. I've been checking my mail but haven't gotten a letter yet...maybe monday or tuesday?:xf:
