Just wondering - the cost of this school seems ridiculous. Is there something which I should know that puts that in perspective? By that I mean things like these possibilities

- maybe once you consider the true cost of comparable schools in the same way, it's not actually that out of line

- maybe they give a lot of grants/scholarships

- maybe the school's just amazing and totally worth that much debt

Are any of these the case, or is there something else I should know before forming too many conclusions solely based on the very scary numbers posted here?

hi david - It's true that Tufts is one of the most expensive schools in the country. Grads I know have lots of debt. Luckily, that tends to be their only complaint. I've worked at Tufts Medical Center for the past 3 (almost 4) years, and I've come to know the school pretty well, its faculty and its students. I am now an applicant and would be thrilled to stay if I were admitted. The faculty have mentored and appreciated me, and the students say nothing but how happy they are to be here. Lots of alumni stay on for residencies and fellowships. It's a wonderful school, but my impression is that because it doesn't have a Harvard-sized endowment, costs to the students are high. Hope that helps.
good luck!

I've got a couple questions.

1) did anyone get an interview recently? In the last week or so? If so, could you post what day you got the "complete" email?

2) I originally sent in 4 individual letters of recommendation individually. Since then I got a letter packet from my Health Advising Committee at my school (in that packet are 3 of the 4 original letters along with other info - not sure exactly what). Should I send them the packet as well? I know they asked for it originally but I said I didn't have one...

3) Seems like they call regarding acceptance. What do they do for interview invites? Do you get emails? I'm out of the country right now so my cell doesn't work.

I completed my application on 9/24 and I haven't received heads or tails of anything since then. Am I done for? What was the length of time it took from submission to hear back from them? And do they send out a rejection notice?

This is unhealthy...my heart skips a beat every time I see the page bumped. Understanding this, I apologize for this post and hope no-one suffers a heart attack at my expense 🙂

I totally understand what you mean. :meanie: (adding anxiety..lol). I hope we hear back soon! I wonder if they did send out the notices last week or not.

Has anyone gotten a call from this elusive Dr. Slavin who teased us on October 26?

I think that Tuft's AMCAS application was due yesterday, the 1st. Perhaps that's why there have been no acceptance calls or emails.... It's killing me though; I was convinced there would be calls and emails yesterday.

I'm glad to hear an explanation for why they haven't gone out...for whatever reason it relieves the anxiety just enough :luck: everyone

Okay, so at the risk of sounding like a complete weirdo/OCD maniac...

I checked last year's thread and unlike the September interviewees/October acceptances who only had to wait one week, the October interviewees/November acceptances had to wait about 2 weeks from the initial email to the acceptances. So if the email went out on Oct. 26th, we should expect to hear around Nov. 9th-10th.

But that's just my guess...

Thanks for the info, it makes me feel better. Although why would they have said they would send the notices at the end of the week? It won't take two weeks to get to where I am! Lol oh well I guess I just need to have some patience...🙄

By the way, while I agree that Dr. Slavin is elusive and\or mysterious in that he only seems to exist in email correspondence, the "calls" come from Dr. Neumeyer, the actual Dean of Admissions. Either way, best of luck to those waiting.

Hi guys, so I broke down and called the admissions office. Apparently for those of us who received the tempter email on Oct. 26th, the letters will actually not go out till the end of this week. So we have at least another few days...

I was wondering when one of us would break! Lol. I am glad you called though! I feel much better that they haven't gone out yet! 🙂

does anyone know when the next interview slots are open?

Wow I am so happy just got the call a little bit ago from Dr.Neumeyer!:soexcited:
Hope the rest of you hear back soon too!

OK so maybe this is a stupid question, but I'll be flying home from Seattle to my family home in Boston for the Christmas holiday. Is this a fair reason to call them and let them know I'll be in the area should they care to give me an interview before or after the holiday break?

P.S. Congrats isasmommy!

thanks Tomh98!. I would think that as long as you phrase it modestly without sounding like you know you will be given an interview it should be okay. I am not sure how they will react but you can try. The admissions is very nice there.

OMG ahhhhh! I really had finally calmed myself down by figuring we'd have to wait until Monday or Tuesday. WAHH why do I check these threads! :scared:

On another note, congrats isasmommy!! I hope I can join your excitement soon!

Hey guys, just looking around this thread and noticing most of the people accepted/interviewed thus far seem to have normal gpa's and mcats - guess I'm hoping I get an interview too - soon!

GPA is 3.3 sGPA is 3.7 MCAT PS 11 VR 11 BS 13 - I'm hoping these are on par with those invited to interview and that my invite will arrive soon! I know its not all about numbers but they are a factor.

Also I submitted a status update as I began a killer research position July 1 so it missed my primary application - but I got the same email others have gotten - I called admissions to ensure it was received and if it will be added to my file or not.

Congrats to those accepted!

Seriously, has anyone else from the October interview pool besides isasmommy heard from Tufts? Ahh! The suspense is killing me!

You know I'm not if he called everyone last night or not. I was too excited that I kind of forgot specifically what he said but I think he said that they were not going to send it out in the mail until today. So it is very possible that he didn't have time to call everyone and may be doing so in the next days. But that is all just speculation I have no idea. I hope you hear back some positive news also!

I got the call Thursday night - all I can remember is that he said emails and letters should be going out shortly.

Hi Premed - My stats hover around yours, and I too started a new research job in July, updating them on my secondary. I interviewed in Maine and we talked about the new position a lot - more than my clinical job of two years. I haven't heard a peep yet from Tufts-Proper. I've got my fingers crossed though, Tufts is my home!
Good luck to us both 🙂

I got the call last Thursday night from Dr. Neumeyer that I was accepted 😀. Just thought I'd share and wish you all the best of luck.

I got the call around 8 tonight! My first acceptance- so relieved and happy!!

Congratulations huskiekid - are you in-state or out-of-state? I'm still waiting for good news, but I'm not from Maine.
Good job!

Ugh, officially deferred...what do I do now? This sucks 🙁

IrishCallini I am sorry. I think I was there the same day as you. How did you find out about your status?

Does anyone know the address we are supposed to address correspondence to interviewers at? It was on a form that was part of the interview day packet (I don't have mine). Thanks.

Deferred as well...Is this basically the same as a wait-list, despite the name change?

Hey, yeah I remember talking with you! I got an email this morning. From what I understand, a deferral means that every time the adcom meets they will review your app again until you are ultimately waitlisted or accepted. But idk how Tufts works, and I don't think they deferred people last year.

Anyone have any insight? I still have hope, but I want to make sure its justified 😕

I interviewed on Oct 19th and haven't heard either way. I have no idea what this means. Maybe my file fell behind a desk or something. Is anyone else out there still waiting for a decision from October?

Bali, just give them a phone call. just ask about your status. aside from that, you can't do much. that's what I think at least.

Got my call last week too!

Accepted!

3.9 GPA, 35 MCAT
Completed Aug 26
Interviewed Oct 12

Good luck to everyone!

The email said that my letter would be mailed out on 11/10

NeuroE, remember that yesterday was veterans day so there was no mail delivery. You should get it today or tomorrow.

Ouch, rejected. I understand the selection process less everyday.

It's ok NeuroE. I liked Tufts a lot, and for the most part everyone was very nice. I had a bad experience at the end of my interview but it's fine. I have not received an email or phone call yet so I believe I'm in the same boat as you.

My only issue (and it really has nothing to do with the looming and highly likely reality of a rejection) is that they included information in the interview invitation (see http://www.tufts.edu/med/admissions/md/interviewedapplicants/index.html) that did not conform to what they did. I'm a little disappointed that this wasn't updated because I was relying on this information while waiting and wasn't prepared. I feel, as an applicant, that they should try and give us the most up to date information possible. Honestly, you have to wait would've been better ... just wasn't prepared. Sigh.

Regardless, it's over. I am grateful that I had the opportunity to interview there at all, I guess. Good luck to everyone else.
