Has today offered sufficient evidence for us to discard the complete-email-means-rejection theory?

It never really made sense to me anyway.

fwiw, I haven't received any word from Tulane since I submitted in mid August.

EDIT: maybe I misread, and the complete emails the above posters received were some special cases. who knows. but it still seems bizarre that complete emails would have this meaning...which means exactly nothing, i realize, given how bizarre and arbitrary this process is across the board.

Hey there. Tulane's website appears to be non-functioning. I'm trying to figure out what their guidelines are for letters of rec, but every time I click the link, I get an error message in my browser. Can anyone tell me who they accept letters from and how many they take?

Interview invite today for 10/11! OOS/33/3.9 Never got a complete email. I did email them an update recently... maybe it helped remind them I exist :laugh:

When I called the admissions office today, they told me that I could not update my file UNLESS I'm invited for an interview. Did they acknowledge your update when you emailed them? I recently got a significant award that I need to tell them about...

If you're wondering, I have not received a complete email yet. So I guess my file is still under review for an interview.

It doesn't happen overnight...I was complete even earlier and just heard about an interview last week. Hang out, sit back, drink a sazerac and listen to Mardi Gras Mambo. Lord willing the good news will roll in, and even if it doesn't you should go visit New Orleans anyways and then tell the ADCOM that you are in town and want to drop by. Maybe they will get the hint! Laissez le bons temps rouler 🙂
 
I got two emails back to back today. One was a rejection email, and the next was an email saying that the rejection email was sent in error and that my application was now complete. I submitted on 08/02. I guess I'm glad I didn't get officially rejected yet... but I have a feeling one is coming my way.
 
Dang rejected guys, complete Aug 20. Subject of e-mail said IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM TULANE SCHOOL OF MEDICINE. lol I thought it was going to be an invitation. I really liked this school and thought I wrote a great secondary, oh well. It is what it is.
 
Ah, I got the "dreaded" complete email today. Submitted 8/3 Complete 9/14. Here's to hoping that the complete email urban legend is just SDN hearsay. :xf:
 
lolll I didn't think the "Complete" myth was true; however, today I found out that this wasn't true. The "Complete" email could mean a future rejection approaching. ha oh well.

I was complete and then offered an interview, so it's not always rejection

Actually, no, they didn't acknowledge it... and only three days passed between the update and the ii, so it probably had nothing to do with that. Hope they have all my information and didn't just discard it! Good luck with your application!
 
I submitted my secondary on 8/10 and haven't heard a word since. Before reading these comments, I called and told the lady I haven't received a "complete" email. She told me my status is "pre-screening". Hopefully pre-screening is good. Anyone else call and told this was their status?
 
Did anyone who got an invite on Monday recieve confirmation of their interview date after emailing Tulane that you were going to attend?
 
i called them and they said there is no way to submit an update email unless you received an interview invite... so i dunno why people are saying to send update emails to get interviews...
 
Got the complete email today....sent all my stuff in by 8/24. I'm hoping the myth isn't true :xf:

I really don't think it's true. I got the complete email over a month ago and still haven't heard anything else. There doesn't seem to be a set pattern with people's timelines with this school.

i sent my stuff on 8/16 and still haven't received a response. is this a good or bad sign?

"The online form that you just completed has been successfully submitted
and time-stamped."

Cuz I got that the same day I submitted my secondary and I have been having issues with there system, so now I'm all freaked out:wtf:
 
So for people interviewing 10/08 can anyone find any information about student hosts?

No. They actually send an email to your email address stating that you are complete.

Okay, thanks! How long did it take you to get your complete email? Sorry for all of the questions...I'm driving myself (and everyone else) crazy 🙂
 
Nevermind to that last question...I read back in the thread and see how long it's been taking to be complete. Thanks!
 
Hey guys- here's a website that I wish I had known about when I was applying to Tulane- you can look at class schedules for T1s-T4s, look at the MSG (medical student govt) calendar that shows a lot of club/lunch meetings, and there's also probably some info from Owl Club up there. As for you all wondering about Tulane tech issues, that is a major problem that many of students and profs were upset about, but a new tech guy was hired this fall and hopefully these issues should be straightened out soon. Basically, don't worry if you don't get a timely "complete" email- it doesn't mean anything about your application.

Quick notes on the school: awesome professors, very early clinical experience (even 1st year), and NO has the best patients of anywhere in the country (between an urban area with extreme poverty and the port that brings in international sailors/tropical diseases!), great city to live in (with great food, great music, great weather, and festivals almost every weekend)

Really, Really, Really like this school. Expressed lots of interest in my secondary, have lots of experience doing habitat in LA. 3.9 SGPA 3.82 CGPA / 30P submitted 9/6/10. Anyone got an idea about my chances?
 
Is there anyway to check your status online or are all status changes through email?

And I got a complete email about a month ago.
 
Just to chime in, I interviewed on sept 13, another great thing about Tulane is the combined MD/MPH degree program that allows you to get both in 4 years. Oh yeah to the people interviewing, if you get Father Don, get ready to talk ALOT about your community service, so if you've done community service to Nola, it looks great. Because I did a bunch of Hurrice Katrina relief in the past
 
w00t! Invite today 9/20. Complete email received first week of August. Below average GPA, average MCAT for those who matriculate. OOS.
 
So it looks like they take a very long time to both send complete emails and do interview invites. I paid on sept 6th and have not received my complete email yet. Should I call them?

I think it's taking people ~3-4 weeks to get a complete e-mail from the time of secondary submission. Some have said they've been waiting for longer without any notice.

I submitted 8/27 and still haven't heard anything so I'd hold tight for a while.
 
My AMCAS was verified 8/20 and I received Tulane's secondary 8/26. Maybe there's a bottleneck in processing during this time of year?? 😕
 
I finally got the (dreaded? not-so-dreaded?) complete email... I submitted my secondary at least 7 weeks ago. Come on Tulane, Mardi Gras isn't for many months yet... stop partying and get to work! :laugh:
 
Definitely, not the dreaded complete email, I got the complete email on 8/16/10 and got an interview offer yesterday for the end of October.

From the multiple rejections in this thread, it seems that they don't do the silent treatment.

You are probably just being re-reviewed at successive meetings? 😕

For any OOS applicants who have received an interview invite, can you share your stats? I am wondering how strict they are with OOS applicants.

How long after being complete did you get the interview invite?

they are very OOS friendly...check MSAR stats
