ACCEPTED TODAY! Good luck to everyone who hasn't heard. Wright State is a great school, I have been there for over a year as a grad student and it looks like I will be there for 4 more! If you have questions about Dayton PM me. I've been here for more than a few years.

Congratulations 7188ab, Buckeye83 and shapirrl!! WSU BSOM is a fantastic school. I interviewed 10/6, hoping to hear some good news too in the next few weeks.

ACCEPTED!!!!!!!! AHHHHH THIS IS ALL SO CRAZY

We're going to be doctors!! Congrats to everyone!!!!!

ACCEPTED!

ahhh, feels so wonderful to finally type out that word...interviewed 9/22, in state. EASILY MY BEST DAY OF THE YEAR!

Accepted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OOS, complete 8/26, ii 8/26, i 9/14

I just got an interview invitation for OOS! I was wondering if anyone who's had an interview could list the questions they were asked??

Congrats to all the acceptances. Do they send rejections throughout the cycle, at the end. or are they silent rejections?

Thanks

To be honest, I don't recall any questions worth listing. The entire faculty interview was conversational as was the interview with the current student (MS2).

If you understand who you are, why you want to be a physician, why you want to attend Wright State and what makes you well suited to become a compassionate physician you should be in good shape. Additionally, you may find it helpful, if not necessary, to be able to articulately describe experiences and events that attributed to the development of your understanding and/or that support your reasonings.

In short, don't stress over any specific question. Make sure you arrive with questions to ask both on the tour and during the interview, and leave with an understanding of the compatibility between you, your medical education, the school and the surrounding area (AKA are you a good fit and and is it a good fit for you).

However, if you have your heart set on a question list, SDN's Interview Feedback section has SDN interview survey details for every school.

Best of luck!

Congrats to everyone who's gotten accepted thus far! You all are so cute getting all flustered. Enjoy the thrill but don't get lazy for the rest of your undergrad (if you still have that to finish).

JUST THINK! By this exact time next year you will have JUST finished Human Structure and Embryology and will be starting Molecular Basis of MEDICINE tomorrow!

Go celebrate!

Congrats to everyone accepted and good luck to those with upcoming interviews! If any of you have questions about the school, especially if you are comparing it to your other acceptances, feel free to shoot me a PM.

Withdrew my application this morning. Anyone looking to bump up their interview date, I had mine scheduled for 10/27.

The school sounds great, but I got in closer to home. Good luck everyone!

I got an interview for 11/09. Sounds like they are accepting really quickly. Of the people who got in, are you guys in state or out of state?

I was placed on stand by list. Good luck to everybody else.

Hey med2468, did you call in today to schedule your interview? I just called in and didn't get a day until 12/15!! That's such a long time

I scheduled about a month ago, not today. They make late appointments as far as I can tell.

you guys are scheduling way out! I got my interview invite in november last year and scheduled it for december.

Did any of you interview 10/20/2010? I ask cause I saw you all and you looked so cute in your business attire!

I scheduled two weeks ago and the earliest they offered me was 12/8. I had to reschedule a week later (last week) and then I had to go on 1/4. They placed me on an "alternate" list for any spots that open up earlier (due to cancellations, mostly). Today the office called and gave me 11/10...basically two months earlier than my last date and a full month earlier than my very first date.

Talk about your luck, huh?

Whats the cheapest/easiest way to get to wright state from the airport? I asked the secretary in admissions but she didn't really know.

Anyone happen to know the next time the committee meets (or how often) to make post-interview decisions?

I can't claim it's the cheapest but it was rather easy. I flew into Dayton and rented a car.

Wright State has a Home & Hearth program where current med students will volunteer to house and (I believe) transport interviewees to and from the airport:

I need to talk to the fiance to see if she'd be up for us getting involved in this.

Has anyone who's been accepted received there info and email from the school yet. I sent back the material the same day I got it and that was a week ago so I wanted to see if it was just me or everybody.

Also have any of you starting thinking about where they are going to live yet?

Nope. I mailed mine a week ago and haven't gotten anything. You're not alone 😉

Interview Invite!!! :woot: 🙂
Complete in September..I think...

After obsessively checking, my status finally changed to

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]The Admissions Committee has reviewed your Application. A decision has been mailed to your preferred address

.Interviewed 10/6.....hoping it's good news.

Thanks! Nothing today, hopefully tomorrow or saturday (in state, not too far away from Dayton). Any 10/6 interviewees lurking out there that have gotten a decision?

nmr last year I believe they accepted a decent number from the wait list, in the top third, middle third, and even some bottom third. I know it sucks right now but there is still a good possibility of getting in! I wish you the best here and the other places you applied

Thanks for the encouragement, I appreciate it. Now I'm just hoping that when they go to rank the waitlist in April I'll still be on it. I know they reject a handful off of the waitlist before it's ranked....now for the long wait.

does the status page ever change...I submitted my app over a month a half ago, and when I call the admission office they were pretty rude

Bear in mind, the admissions office probably gets tons of calls from people wanting info they simply can't give out. I'm sure that does get a bit annoying after a while.

As far as the waitlist, last year they got plenty far down it. I was bottom third ranked and ended up being accepted, so don't let a waitlisting (which technically hasn't happened yet) concern you yet.

I came back from the interview last week, and WSU is now my first choice medical school. The faculty here was *inspiring* that I left almost in tears. The interviews were very relaxed, as mentioned by others. The students were great people. The staff was beyond friendly.

I would be happy at any med school I am applying to this year, and I could see myself successful anywhere I get in. But I feel that it would be impossible for me to NOT succeed at WSU.

Anyone else here interview on 10/27?

got my username, ID, email address, etc. in the mail yesterday!

it all feels so real now! 👍

I haven't gotten mine yet. But i looked back in the thread and I think you got your acceptance letter the day before me too so maybe I'll get my stuff today. Have you looked into the living situation or are you waiting to hear back from other places first?

I did. I was one of the kids from kids from Cleveland. I definitely liked the school as well.

Yeah, I'm from there too. I was the guy who gave up my seat b/c there weren't enough chairs. I hope we hear back soon! GL!

Hey, I remember both of you 🙂 I'm the girl from Iowa....Isoprop, we talked a little bit afterward on the way to the parking lot. It was nice to meet everyone...I was really impressed with all the other applicants and students there. Everyone was so stinkin' nice!
Really hoping to hear good news from here in 3-5 weeks, now!

I have two more interviews. My family is driving me crazy and insisting that I go out of state for med school. I (who will be paying for it through loan repayment) keep insisting that I'm 23 and can make my own decisions. Anyway, still looking into these other two schools to appease them. Not counting on any other interviews beyond that, though. And I'm pretty sure my heart lies at WSU.

I know 80% of most classes live in Ashton Brooke apartments near the Fairfield Mall. I probably wouldn't want to constantly run into my classmates outside of school, so I'll be looking into other options. There are lots of apartment complexes that are decent and affordable in the area! 👍

Why would your family insist on you leaving the state? What if you just find your own apartment and live on your own or with a roommate and keep in minimal contact with your folks? I can see why you'd like to move away if you've grown up there and simply wanted a change in scenery but moving out of state just to be penalized with higher tuition is uncalled for.

ha, I completely agree with you. It's not to get me out of their hair or anything - I fully intend on living on my own and they know this. I think their reasoning is that I've lived and gone to school in SW Ohio my whole life and THEY think I need a change in scenery. I might have thought the same thing a few years ago (and I still think it in the winter 😉), but I've come to really like my home state - so that and the cheaper tuition = two reasons (of many!) to stick around!

My parents are the complete opposite. They want me to go to school at home but I haven't received an interview from my state school which in all honesty is kinda a relief because it's a research oriented school and i'm more interested in primary care so i don't think it's necessarily the best fit. Whereas, I loved Wright State from the moment I walked on campus for the interview and I think I'd fit in well there. Still have another interview but I like WSU a lot.

YES I remember you too. I agree: everyone including the faculty, med students, staff, and applicants were awesome. Even if I don't get accepted, I am so glad to have met some amazing people.

But I'm already waiting for my mailbox so it's going to be a long month for me.

I had my interview yesterday and fell in love with this school! I'm nervously waiting for my decision and was hoping those of you who have been accepted could share your stats so I'd have a better idea of my chances? Please and thanks!!

I don't know if 80% of the med students live in Ashton Brooke. None of my close circle of friends live there. Here's some other options (based on ppl I know):
Wexford on the Green
Properties at Wright Field (I'm here)
The Lofts
The Promenade
Faircreek (I think?)
Stoneridge (by the Greene)

Also, check Craigslist for homes for rent too. I *almost* went this route, but couldn't find one I liked in time. Rental homes in Fairborn or Belmont (or even Huber Heights if you don't mind a 10-15 min drive) for 2-3 people run right around what you'd pay monthly for an apartment, sometimes less. I've known a few people who've gone this route while at WSU.

Just got an interview offer last week, and I'm OOS. So if you haven't heard back -- don't despair! Good luck everyone!

And thank you for the great interview feedback 🙂

Accepted today!

In-state, interviewed 10-6.
