i definitely plan to *eventually* look into renting a house. like smashweights said, there usually isn't much of a price difference, and i'm not really into apartment complexes...i'm looking to have a bit more indoor/outdoor space to help keep me sane 🙂

Accepted today!

In-state, interviewed 10-6.

Can you guys share some stats with me the ones that just got accepted and the ones who just got interviews so I knew where I stand. Thanks. Congrats to everyone who got in and the ones who got interviews.

Anyone interviewing this coming tuesday??!

Tips?

Be yourself. It's very relaxed. Have a few general interview answers prepped (why medicine, why this school, etc.), but be ready to express yourself. They really want to know what kind of person you are.

They really emphasized their connection to the community and the collegial atmosphere among students so I would try to tie in your personal traits into that.

Edit: oh and get ready to be impressed. Tell us how it went afterward.

Is anyone around????🙂

Mine are also listed in my MDApps.

Also, if you click on the user's name, and then click, "Show more posts by...." generally, people have posted their stats before, if you're really that interested.

I interviewed here and I have to say, some of the nicest people I've ever met!

Indeed. Check MDApps. And I'm 90% sure I've posted mine at least twice in other pages of this thread. Good luck!

isprop- nice MCAT and recent GPA. I think they meet this week sometime, but I am not expecting to hear until they next time they meet at the soonest. Plus we will have to wait an extra few days because they use snail mail

I interviewed here couple few weeks back and loved it. I really hope they liked me!

Hmmm, I'm getting anxious here -- it's been 2 1/2 months and I haven't heard anything...any late Augusters heard about interviews yet?

my secondary application was received 8/24 and i still haven't heard anything back yet :/ i'm assuming they may have put us "on hold"

not sure if there's a status like that or anything, but maybe they want to compare us to incoming applicants? we'll see how it turns out. just gotta have patience 🙂 nothing's final yet!

I just interviewed at Wright State today and can assure any nervous applicants that the interview process is made to be "stress free". They didn't ask any questions that were meant to trip me up. This school really has a desire to get to know you as a person. I wish all my interviews were this worry free!

Which one were you? I was the girl from Ohio State

Hey, friends! I'm meeting with the Dean next week to ask a few questions. If any other already accepted (or not yet accepted even) future-med students have any questions they'd like me to hit on, let me know and I'll try to work them into the conversation. Hope you're all ready for turkey day next week 👍

Well *in my antione dodson voice* since you're going, I had some questions about the pre-matriculation program. I emailed the woman that was supposed to be over it about 3 weeks ago and have not received a response from her. I was just wondering what exactly it was and how can sign up for it. So if you can get any info on that I'd be greatly appreciative.

What you meeting with the Dean for? Didn't you get accepted?

Yea, I just have some questions. Totally harmless. I emailed him (Debbie gave his name as someone I should ask my particular questions) and he said it'd be easier to gauge if we met.

Anyway, Serious7, I'll definitely bring up pre-matriculation. I'm interested in it as well. 👍

congrats to everyone who has been accepted and good luck to all who are still waiting 🙂
For those of you accepted, there is a WSUBSOM sale going on right now if you live nearby and want to get a sweatshirt/tshirt etc early and support the med school prom (yay!) here's a link to the order form:
http://www.med.wright.edu/alumni/MerchandiseOrderForm.pdf

also, here is something I found really helpful because I didn't know anything about Dayton, OH when I moved down here-- it's the first year survival guide

http://www.med.wright.edu/students/SurvivalGuide2014.pdf

this is the class of 2014's guide- the MS1s of this year will update it for the new class, but if you were super bored and wanted some more info I remember this being a good resource.
it doesn't talk about housing at all, and I know that's a big concern.. but the school does put together a housing guide with student input about each apartment complex. They also do a really awesome roommate survey for people looking to live with someone so be on the look out for that- it's updated constantly so don't freak out if you don't see anyone that you think you could live with at first. (I highly recommend getting a roommate.. You'll save a ton of money, have someone to hang out and go out with those first few days, have someone at least to say hello to when you've spent all day alone with your books.. seriously, I don't know of anyone in our class having roommate issues if they're living with another med student, and I know TONS of ppl in our class wish they had lived with someone and are moving in with other students next year.) Also, don't freak out that you have to figure out where you want to live right away. there is a ton of apartment turnover in this place, and everyone who wanted to live in a certain apartment complex/set up got to live there.

congrats on getting in, enjoy the rest of your year!

Thanks for the post, john!

Gosh, Wright State has a med school prom?! Now I reaaaaally want to interview there! 😀

HOLY CRAP! Status change!

The Admissions Committee has reviewed your Application. A decision has been mailed to your preferred address

Interviewed 10/27! That was fast!

+1
Yes, I remember they said 3-6 weeks.

I know, but I thought it would be closer to 6 weeks from last year's thread. It's been barely 3 weeks.

I saw a large envelope in the mailbox today and I got excited. 😱 Turned out to be magazine inside a stupid large envelope. I should cancel my subscription. Haha.

Hey congrats! I thought you interviewed with me on 10/27? Am I thinking of someone else?

Thanks, Isoprop! Yes, you're right, it was 10/27 (I was looking at the wrong date, I got the invite 9/29). I changed it.

And congratulations to you, too!😀 Do you know if you'll attend, or have you made that decision yet?

I'm pretty much set on going here unless I get some crazy scholarship somewhere else. And even then it'll be a tough choice.

Hello Wright State friends!

Quick question for any current medical students at Wright (or anyone that might know). I'm interviewing at Wright on Dec. 7th (!) and wanted to stay with a current Medical Student through the Home and Hearth program, but was just informed that the MS1 have an exam on Dec 6th and will (naturally) be celebrating that night.

Do you think I'll be able to find a student host? I've emailed a few people with no luck, should I start looking for hotels?

Thanks!

Not sure how the home and hearth works, but in the event they dont find you one, there are 3-4 hotels right across the street from the med school. Holiday Inn is where some of the med students park when parking gets bad on campus, lol! i'm sure they love us over there.

Thanks for the advice! I just got a student host though. I'm super excited/nervous about this interview so I think it'll be nice to speak to some medical students before I speak to the admissions committee!

They'll send you an official email after you accept the offer with a link to the roommate finder.

Congrats to all those who got accepted. :claps:

For those of you that interviewed, did you know who you were interviewing with before your interview?

Also, did you get anything in the mail/email about the interview after you scheduled it?

I haven't heard anything after my interview invite letter and I interview on the 7th.

thankkss 🙂

When I checked in I was given a schedule with the interviewers' names. Although, it might of just stated the student interviewer's year without a name. I'm not completely sure.

Also, did you get anything in the mail/email about the interview after you scheduled it?

I got an email stating where to park and other general info about two weeks before I interviewed.

I haven't heard anything after my interview invite letter and I interview on the 7th.

Good luck! :luck:

I never got a link to a roommate finder....did it come in your regular email or the one you set up through the school?

it came in the email i listed on amcas. Did u get any email from them? After I sent the acceptances papers back it took about a week or two to get an email. In the email it has a link called "where to live" or something like that. And on the page it has the roommate finder.

I definitely remember getting the email from them, but didn't notice any link on it...and i think i deleted it because i cant find it!😱 Do you think you could send me that link in a PM? If not, I can give them a call and have them resend it! Thanks!
