After you accept an admission offer, how long until they reply? I'm guessing 2 weeks?

Got mine in about a week. I also live in Virginia so it may be quicker for those closer.
I sent mine over a week ago and haven't heard anything. Granted, Thanksgiving probably delayed any sort of reply. I guess I'll give it another week or so before giving them a call.

Does anybody know the likelihood of being accepted off the wait-list for OOS applicants?

Actually, my status page says "committed on 11/29/10" so does this mean they got my acceptance? I still haven't received anything in the mail yet.

It depends on where in the wait list you are placed when they make it next year. They'll mail you a letter stating if you are top, middle, or bottom third of the waitlist or not accepted. Top third can pretty much plan on being accepted, middle third typically has a good shot, and bottom third occasionally gets in, but typically very late in the summer. Last year we hit bottom third territory (thankfully!).

Ok, thanks for the descriptive response Smashweights!!

Called the admissions people, they got my letter. I guess they're just taking long to reply. Maybe they're having second thoughts about me. :meanie:

Scholarship offer!!!! *woot woot*

Not full but as scholarships are hard to come by, I'm happy for whatever I can get.

Via email. They sent a PDF Letter. Guess that is faster.

Well that's awesome! Congrats 👍

p.s. Prematriculation program from what I gathered the other week during my conversation with the dean = a couple weeks before school where you can get a head start on gross anatomy (mainly). Usually, preference is given to non-trad applicants, but everyone is welcome to apply. I think apps are taken through the spring. He didn't seem to be as knowledgeable as the woman who runs the program, so hopefully she gets back to you soon!

Does anyone know how many students are generally on the waitlist? Is there anything that can boost your ranking during the waiting period?

i remember them saying that once your waitlisted your rank is fixed, so I'm not sure if further info will help you. But I don't think it would hurt you if you did submit updates.

would anything help standby applicants get on the waitlist?

WOW CONGRATS!

Meh, this seems not worth it if you already took human anatomy. Thanks for askin', but I think I'll pass even as a non-trad.

I heard this too but I think the rank list gets made next year so an update before they rank the list might help get you ranked higher. GL. :luck:

They will not tell anyone the size of the waitlist, that's top secret stuff (as I found out last year). I also believe that once you're through the admissions committee, your "ranking score" for them is set. I tried submitting and LOI after getting waitlisted and was told that the adcom would never see it and that there are zero changes to the wait list rankings. As for before it's made, i'm not sure. But i'd say it seems like once you're presented to the adcom, that's the end of it.

Well, it really is true that once you've been reviewed by adcom, you're ranking stays with you until waitlisting time. In other words, nothing you do in the meantime will help for that application cycle. I confirmed that this morning with WSU.

FYI for people that interviewed Nov 16, adcom is meeting about us tomorrow :scared:

thanks for the info. I've been going slightly insane wondering when they're going to meet. Ah, will they send word after tomorrow? Or will they continue to compare us to other applicants?

Me too, cause that guy was like "they'll meet about you in 4 weeks. Well maybe two. But probably four. Maybe two though". So two weeks ago I was like CRAPPPP DID THEY OR WHATTTT. But I called yesterday to ask if it was too late to add something to my app and she told me they'd be making decisions tomorrow.

What I'm guessing from what they said is that they'd send out word tomorrow by mail? Cause I remember the guy was like saying we'd hear around Christmas. Not 100% sure though.

:xf:x a billion

Yup, they send your decision through snail mail. You should see a change in your status when you log into the status page.

Just got my wright.edu email account. Crap, this is getting real. No medu account until school starts I'm guessing. The way IT is done here is weird.

whyyyyy would they do that?! I wanna know NOW

because evidently we're in 1989 before the internet was born. good luck though.

born = popular

interviewed nov 16th, and currently freaking out. does anyone know how long it takes to see a status change after the admissions committee meets? and if you are waitlisted or rejected, do you still see a status change online?

I'm freaking out too! No change for me even though like I said, I know they met yesterday

Does anyone know if Wright State typically waits until the end of the cycle to send out post-secondary/pre-interview rejections ?

Thanks and good luck to all!

Your online status change will be the exact same no matter what the decision is. It's something like "A decision has been made and mailed to your preferred address" but they don't tell you what the decision it.

I sympathize with everyone freaking out- it's agonizing knowing that they already decided but you can't know until the envelope arrives. (unless they've changed it, if you get in it's a huge envelope with lots of papers inside, so you'll know right away)

Good luck!

It is EXTREMELY agonizing. My status doesn't even say that though, it still says "interview awarded" even though they supposedly decided weds. I know it's irrational but since I care so much about getting in I'm always like assuming the worst, like they just shredded my application cause they hate me so much and won't bother to let me know what the decision was etc.etc..my rational mind knows that they probably just haven't had a chance to send out decisions/mail them yet. Its just super hard not to freak out

I think the explanation is more that the administration isn't just chomping at the bit to race to the computers, change statuses, and overnight the snail mail. Enjoy the fact that the entire application process, as far as what you can do, is over. Sit back and cruise control til you get in somewhere.

I interviewed 11/10 and I still don't have an updated status change beyond "interview awarded."

We were told about 4 weeks, it's been five, WHERE IS MY DECISION?

i've noticed that things have been slowing down prob because of the holiday season. give it a little time. you can go ahead and email Debbie if you feel impatient, but i would wait a week to do that.

Hopefully having more information will make this easier (even if it's sort of frustrating information). If your status hasn't changed to the "a decision has been made" then a decision MOST LIKELY hasn't been made and you'll have to wait until after the holidays. Mine changed a couple days before I got the letter. You could keep an eye out for it changing on Monday, but I'm fairly certain the admin committee can't meet anymore before the holiday (I just say that because I know there are 2nd year med students on it and they were finished with class last Friday)

Also, a couple people I know in our class interviewed in mid November last year (the 17th and 18th) and they didn't find out until January 18th-- It took them 2 months because of holidays I guess. (we can all sympathize with how awful the process is obviously.. these guys were still pissed about how long it took to hear back and remembered exactly when they got their letters lsat year haha). I'll keep my fingers crossed it happens more quickly this year 🙂

good luck, happy holidays!

Thanks for the encouragement. It's just kind of frustrating that someone who interviewed on my day heard literally 10 days later. And here I am, a little over 5 weeks after...with zero. I know I should be grateful I had interview...but are they REALLY that unsure about me?

Wow its good to know I'm not the only impatient one! I'm driving my hubby crazy with my "what if's".🙂

i had the same thing happen to me at another school. i got an acceptance there. good luck.

Does anybody know the likelihood of being accepted off the wait-list for OOS applicants?

I was an OOS applicant and was placed in the middle third of the wait-list. Don't despair. I've talked with a lot of OOS applicants and apparently it was quite common to be wait-listed. They made it through the bottom third last year, so try to be patient with this entire process. If any OOS person wants to message me about this, feel free.

For those accepted, did you have to send in a deposit? I don't see anything in the emails/letters that says a deposit is due. Thanks

Just checked my status online and a decision has been mailed finally! I interviewed on Nov 9th, so I imagine everyone else who interviewed then will be hearing something soon. Good Luck!
