I've been reading the forums here for awhile, but this is my first post! I receieved an acceptance via email from my POI and snail mail to the School Psych PhD program at MSU on 1/25 🙂

I was accepted to the University of Waterloo for their Clinical Psychology PhD Program today.

Updated based on PMs I received. Will go back through the thread tomorrow to add those updates. Congrats everyone!

Hello all,
I recently got invited to interview at Adelphi Univ and Long Island Univ (Brooklyn), both for the Clinical PhD programs.
Also, I was informed by mail that I have been waitlisted at Univ of Florida.

I was just wondering if anyone here has applied to, and heard from Teachers College, Columbia Univ?

what a day! Received acceptances from John Jay/CUNY Clinical Forensic Program and an acceptance from Fordham Clinical Psychology PhD in the same day.

Hope some of you heard good news too!

Congrats! 👍

I got waitlisted at Fordham..
Quite anxious at this point, it's a really good research match for me.
Those of you lucky ducks who got accepted but don't plan to attend, please do notify them soon 🙂

May I ask what track you are? Mine is obviously Forensic with Dr. Rosenfeld and Cruise... and dont worry as soon as I figure wtf I am doing I will make that decision, the email he sent me was an unofficial offer to so nothing in writing yet (technically from either school).

Will the person who got into Miami University Ohio please PM me their PI?!?! I am crushed right now....

Congrats everyone!

I have not heard from Teachers College, Columbia....

Has anyone heard from Georgia State Univ and Univ of Miami?

I had phone interviews for GSU clinical-NBN this week. Their in-person interviews are next week, and they'll be making decisions about acceptances in two weeks.

Congrats!! Was the John Jay email unofficial as well? Could you PM me?

I'm anxiously awaiting!

If you're talking about counseling programs, I heard the interviews for teachers college counseling psych phd program are in two weeks, and I haven't heard anything from georgia state counseling psych phd program.

Ditto! I'd love to know the POI... so I can move on in full glory of being a Reject Queen... or keep holding out hope for my top choice!

They said they'd contact all interviewers on Thursday and Friday of the outcomes... but I haven't heard a thing. Does anyone have any "inside info" (i.e. the snow postponed decisions, acceptances are already out, etc)?

TIA!

:beat:

Are they still extending offers for interviews at Georgia state, anyone know?

Considering phone interviews have been completed, half of the interviews are tomorrow, and the other half are on Friday.... I doubt it.

Congrats to AlaskanJustin on his acceptances to John Jay and Fordham!! Anybody else hear from JOHN JAY (acceptance or rejection) post interview?

I'm dying here! I don't know if I can wait anymore. 🙂

thank you much I feel really lucky because I KNOW I was not the most qualified applicant, just listening to some of the other applicants, they knew their ****... Dr. Galietta told me John Jay forwarded decisions to CUNY Grad Center, and that the Grad Center will send out official letters sometime soon...

I had already posted that I'd been waitlisted at UGA (post-interview) after personally e-mailing my POI (after hearing that people got acceptances and rejections early Feb). Today, 2/15 (almost two weeks later) I received a mass e-mail from the admissions chair confirming that a) offers had gone out and b) that I'm on their 'alternate' list.

So for those others of you who hadn't heard one way or the other (and hadn't contact your POIs)... check you inbox. ^^

What's the protocol on responding to an acceptance offer? On one hand, I feel like Miss America complete with the goonish smiling and ridiculous arm waving out of sheer joy. However, the proposed funding is tricky (at best)... and I have two interviews left. In my stupor I am unable to string words together. Is there some sort of response template that I could steal???

Someone posted this same question on the interview invite thread. I responded by saying:

I'm in the same situation - but I pretty much just wrote a quick e-mail in response saying something to the effect of 1) that I was delighted to hear the news, 2) that I had a very positive impression of the program after my visit, and 3) that I would let them know of my decision as soon as I could and that I looked forward to keeping in touch (!).

I think most programs understand that you aren't going to decide right away, especially if your interviews aren't over. I didn't feel like I had to explain anything. Also, mine have been unofficial notices technically I guess, so I did mention that "I looked forward to hearing more" as well (as they said I'd get the official offer soon etc.).

Just keep it short and positive.

Another forum user replied by saying:

What I did for my first offer sounded something like this (it was by phone so I don't remember word-for-word):

Thank you so much for the wonderful news. I was very impressed with the program at X, as it is one of my top choice schools (NOTE: this was actually the case for me, and I really would NOT say this if it isn't true for you). However, I have already commited to interviewing at several other competitive programs that was I was looking forward to visiting. My last interview is scheduled for X date (NOTE: If your interviews are done, just say you're waiting to hear from my other schools...). I will let you know my final decision as promptly as possible, since I do understand it is unfair to hold offers for any longer than necessary. Again, thank you so much for the great news -- I am truly happy to hear it! I will be in touch as soon as possible.

Hope this helps!

P.S. I never went to sleep last night, so I apologize if this post makes me sound like I've never heard of that whole thing called "grammar."
P.P.S. I'm sure my phone response was nowhere nearly as composed as this and sounded more like "Oh man... awesome, this rocks!

Thanks PA2009! I am too giddy to hit search 😛. I appreciate the instant gratification tho!!! Best to all!!!!

lol. No worries. That thread gets posted to so often that it would have been hard to find those two replies in there. I only knew of them because I was one of the two people that did reply hahahaha. G'luck!

Has anyone heard from the University of Alabama-Psych/Law Track? My interview was on Jan 15th and I'm getting nervous that I haven't heard anything!!!

I heard that someone else here got an interview at Adelphi... so did I (clinical PhD). I was wondering if anyone knew anything about how interviews are conducted here.

Does anyone know how long after interviews should people get acceptance, waitlist, or reje...(I just cant complete the word...too terrible to think about it...)?? I had an interview at a place and I wish I got in. I dont expect a response yet because the interview was recently, but I keep looking at my email inbox hoping, wishing, praying..... I just want to know when I should start getting nervous. Do acceptance letters get sent before or after rejection ones?
:help:

This is how I've felt on interviews. My fellow applicants are GOOD!

I've found this too - except for the very rare exceptions. but it kinda makes me feel good because a. admissions must be doing a good job of selection (not just due to connections, etc) and b. these are my peers and maybe we will end up working together.

some of you "youngsters" blow me away. 😉 there is a lot of negative press about the younger generation, etc. and I think it is a bunch of bs. very impressed!

I was one of the applicants who interviewed at UCLA a couple weeks ago. I see that they have sent out admissions offers on 2/12. Does anyone know whether they have sent out all the admissions offers? Do they typically let you know either way by sending a rejection email? Also, if you have been accepted please PM me your POI if you feel comfortable!

Congrats to AlaskanJustin on his acceptances to John Jay and Fordham!! Anybody else hear from JOHN JAY (acceptance or rejection) post interview?

I'm dying here! I don't know if I can wait anymore. 🙂

I am also dying to know if anyone besides alaskanjustin (congratulations!) has heard anything from John Jay...waitlists or rejections?

also alaskanjustin I was wondering if Dr. Gallieta was your POI or if she is doing all the emailing for the program? so anxious!

What happened to the FSU post?

Oops. I was trying to copy and paste into a pm to the person who runs the thread because I saw they didn't post it in the updates today. I ended up cutting and pasting instead it seems. But the info. is still accurate - official admission offer on 02/15.

Hey all,

I am waiting on any sort of reply from the clinical PhD program at Teachers College, Columbia University. The FAQ on the website says they notify people in February for an admission day to be held in March. Seems to be taking more time than I figured; we're already halfway through February. If anyone hears anything please post. Thanks.

I have interviewed for CUNY Graduated Center, City College, and am awaiting a decision from them.

This process is stressful.

Best of luck to everyone!

Does anybody know anything about UCF admissions offers? At the interview, they indicated that decisions would be made early last week, and nothing on here indicates that anyone has heard.

no she was not and truthfully i only know for my case i havent spoken to anyone else that has heard... i am sorry 🙁

Alabama applicants -

Heard from Dr. Sellbom today via email that they are taking longer than they had originally planned to make decisions. So don't get too stressed just yet - they haven't given out acceptances/waitlists/rejections yet for the folk who interviewed. He said that hopefully some time this week we should hear something.

I have a question... I have been extended an offer to work under a prof (clinical psych MA/PhD) and I have accepted the offer (as it is my top choice), however, the school's psych grad committee doesn't meet until March, once all the profs have chosen their students. At this time, the committee must approve of all the chosen students and once this process is complete I will receive my official acceptance. In this situation is it 'safe' to already say I have been offered a position and have accepted, and to turn down interview offers from other schools??

Any help would be great~ good luck to all.:luck:

Interesting situation. Generally, I would say it's a safe bet... but personally, I wouldn't bank on it until I had official offer in my hands in writing. Now as to what you should do ethically... I don't know. In my case, I don't consider offers official until they are 100% official - so I wouldn't turn down or accept an offer or turn down an interview (for a school I would really consider) until then. Frustrating that you'd have to wait until March though to find out (turnover for me from unofficial offer notifications to official ones has been about 1-2 weeks).

😀 Finally Finally Accepted to Midwestern University PSYD program via phone call!!

After hearing about AlaskanJustin's acceptance to John Jay (congrats, pretty sure we met), and seeing somewhere that somebody got in a few days later on the 16th; I'm wondering if John Jay emailed all of the acceptances at once or if they are sending them out on a rolling basis as they decide. Also, any post interview rejections?

I interviewed and haven't heard back, so no news is good news at the moment. Still, any insights would help.

John Jay vs. job search with a psych degree. Harsh times.

I'm in the same boat! As far as I know (from these posts) AlaskanJustin is the only one that received an offer. I know several of us on here interviewed-so I'm just going to take as he is super special and john jay knew that he was in demand so they caught him early (congrats again!). I don't know of anyone else that got any news-so I hear ya-the waiting is killing me. I hope we hear something by Friday. Also, if anybody sees anything on any other sites about rejections or acceptances-please post here.

Thanks!
