anyone else here applying next year? time is going by so fast and I'm getting nervous already. all I can think about is, "gotta keep my gpa up, gotta keep my gpa up, crap mcat is coming up gotta study, gotta study, oh lord my personal statement, I really need to get started on that" OMG!!! it's driving me nuts. It's more because i can't believe it is coming up so fast, not because I'm not prepared for it. who else feeling like me?

One thing at a time. Get your MCAT outta the way, then worry about PS, AMCAS, LoR, etc. You've got some time still.

yeah, one thing at a time. But ask for Letters of rec first and have them ready. Those can take forever.

Personal statement, not the highest of priority. As long as you have great MCAT and GPA and experience, or good, PS won't matter as much. So just think about ideas to write for PS, but focus on MCAT.

yeah it is pretty early, although i like the enthusiasm and excitement... i had it as well. the process starts to run you down, especially with all the waiting, so try and organize yourself and take one step at a time and i'm sure you'll be able to submit that amcas of yours on day #1

No kidding.

The first wave of exhaustion set in after getting AMCAS submitted in early June...you then need to gin up your enthusiasm to get the secondaries out the door in July...then there is the waiting for interviews...and waiting to hear back from schools...and this thing drags out until next May, or for some poor slobs, until June...holy crap!

It is both a physical and emotional rollercoaster. If I get accepted tomorrow (Oct 15), I am officially DONE.

Oct 15 acceptances are the goal for any sane applicant, and to have any shot at those, you need to apply EARLY.

If you are sure that you will do well then register early. If not then wait until the deadline (which is about 17 days before test date). I registered about 3 weeks before test date.🙂

I'm with you guys as well. Which MCAT are you all planning for? I was originally thinking the Jan sitting, but am now leaning towards April so I can do a longer content review (been a couple years since the pre-reqs for me).

I also have a lot of volunteering/shadowing to do as well, so I'll be busy.

I'll be applying, I was initally an applicant for the 2013 class but obviously that didn't work out. I really didn't expect it to though considering how bad my grades were. I'm now in a SMP type program at my local medical school and doing fairly well. I skipped the 2014 cycle because the turn around was so quick, but I feel very confident about my chances for this cycle.

I was thinking about taking the MCAT sometime mid Apr./early May. My MCAT class runs through the 1st week of April, but I want time to go through the EK books another time before I take the exam because the class is organized one section at a time and we're doing Inorganic Chem now so It won't be fresh by then. I don't know, I'll know where I sit after a couple more prac. exams. I've only taken AAMC 3 so far.

I'm with you!!! Freaking out in keeping my gpa up. I think it'll be a 3.5 by May next year..Don't know if I should apply by then, I guess it'll all depend on how I do on my MCAT. Taking it on May next year!..Good luck everyone 🙂

I totally understand. You try not to think about it, but it keeps drifting back into your mind... 🙄

And it's stressful trying to maintain a ton of things at once. But alas... such is life and it only gets worse. 😀

I much prefer my 'acceptance day' dreams than my sudden "I'm never getting in!" nightmares.
