Nothing, complete mid August. It doesn't seem like many interviews have been sent out this month at any of the schools I applied to!
I concur. In comparison to the 2010 thread, this year seems a bit different. First of all, the "status" protocol is different than it was last year on the AECOM website. Also, there were numerous people on the 2010 thread with II's in October. I'm hoping there will be a string of invites by the end of October this year and more toward thxgiving as well. Let's keep hope...I guess.

HI,

i have heard from applicants and even a few advisors that albert einstein medical school is known for accepting those they consider to be underrepresented especially latinos and african americans with lower mcat scores that the average applicant. I was wondering if anyone else knew if this was true or has seen such preference. I recently got back my mcat score and it was a 27 and i am trying to decide whether or not to take a shot this spring.

Hi silverman,

You may be right about Einstein being more lenient toward that demographic, but even so, how many 27's do you think they will accept in a given year? Personally I'm not sure, but I would guess not more than a few.

That said, you would be vying for an extremely small spot in the class. If you're very confident in every other part of your application, I think there's a chance they could be responsive to you. If not, you may just want to take it again. Ain't no shame in it.

Just received an II!!! Very excited to have this opportunity!
Complete email 9/26

For anyone who had an afternoon interview, can you share what the schedule is like? Mine's at 1:30 but they say to come in at 11:30, I guess for the tour and lunch. I don't see how I would end up staying until 5 pm if the interview is really an hour long.

I just had my interview today, which ended up being at 2:15 pm, and I was out and done by 3pm.

I got to the school at 11:30, there was a short tour by some of the current students, we ate lunch together in the cafeteria, I had my interview, and then there was nothing left to do so I went back to my hotel; I'm flying home tomorrow.

As for the interview itself it was very informal, just a short talk with one of the doctors in the Jacobi hospital. Some people though had interviews at the Montefiore hospital, and had to catch a shuttle. Just tell one of the M1s or M2s and they'll make sure you get to your interview on time.

Jut got an II! Just so other applicants are aware, I was complete 9/26.

It took more than 3 weeks for my secondary to be completed. After a long wait, got my II today by email ... 🙂 Good luck to all who are waiting, yours are on the way!

Congrats! how long were you complete for?

That part was very fast for me. Just completing took a long time. I was a PhD student at Einstein.
Is there a status page that you can ck the status of the app? I can't seem to find it. Thanks

Is Einstein receptive to in area/update emails

I schedule my interview on Jan 9th, 2011. All earlier days have been booked. Anybody coming on the same day?

I was told to get there "by 11:30 for a 2:00 interview". Does this mean an afternoon interview? Kind of confused...

Afternoon interview. Be there by 11:30 for lunch and tour.

Thanks! When will we be told who is the interviewer?

That I wouldn't be able to tell you yet. My interview's not until early December. Anyone else know the answer to this? 😀 I'm kind of curious too since I heard we might have to take a shuttle depending who our interviewer is.

Interviewed today- Einstein is awesome! You don't find out your interviewer until the day of when you check-in.

Glad you had a great time! 🙂

If you, or any other person on this board - has questions about the many opportunities at Einstein (Research/clinical/student life) please feel free to msg me.

I don't check my msgs all the time but i promise ill get back to you within a week. 2nd year + doing extra research is keeping me a bit busy this year and not much time for SDN.

FYI from a previous pm question: You don't need a car at Einstein. All transportation is provided by shuttles or taxi service. Yes, free taxi service to and from necessary clinical rotations. I am doing extra research over the weekend and was easily able to secure $$$ in taxi vouchers to get my travel covered - its nice for anyone who is not from the area and does not have a car here. Einstein is good with the fin. aid + best discounted housing of any medical school (best total fin. aid package i recieved and hence why i chose the school) and very good with extra money for anything extra you want to do - research - community outreach.

This is nice to know. 🙂 Thank you for sharing this.

II by e-mail a few minutes ago. Complete Aug 12th.

Hurrah 🙂

Complete late july...still nothing..

I was complete 8/1 and still haven't heard anything. I didn't even receive a complete email, I had to send them one and ask if they had received everything.

I sent in the area emails to NY schools when i was there 2 weeks ago, is it bad to send one again if im flying back from california for another NY interview?

Interview Invite today. Literally jumped out of my seat in front of my biochemistry class.

I submitted my secondaries in October (late for SDN haha) and am stoked I've already raked in 4 (no rejections yet).

Einstein is one of my top choices. Lets do this!

Congrats.

Can you tell me what dates were available for scheduling your interview?

At least for me (II last week) they said the earliest day was Jan 3 and that I should e-mail them dates that I would be available. I sent them about 5 ranked dates and they gave me my top choice (Jan 3).

Emailed a request to interview before I move back to the midwest from New York in a few weeks... I guess I'll see what happens. Seemed like it was worth a shot, I don't know if anyone has had any luck with in the area emails though I did get a response saying my request email was put in my file at least.

has anyone who was complete in july receive an interview lately..losing hope 🙁

I feel you. I know many people in the same situation.

I feel extremely lucky. I didn't send secondary until mid-October and was baffled I got an interview invite so soon. Also, what was more surprising is that they even considered my application with my verbal score (12/5/14 and 12/7/13).

I can't find Einstein's grading system on their website. Will someone please enlighten me?
