Re: Housing Change
In case you haven't visited Einstein, or you did and your tour guide didn't mention it, there are big changes to how the apartments work here. Because of new NYC fire codes and other reasons, they are converting all the 2 (really 3) bedroom apartments so that the living room becomes a part of the converted room. They are going to be expanding the kitchens a little bit "to make up for this", but not by much. They've already done it in some rooms and according to the housing manager, are hoping to be done by the end of the summer. What a lot of people try is set up some arrangement with the person in the big room and set up a divider to make a fake living room. The individual bedrooms are still bigger than any of the other NYC med schools and DEFINITELY cheaper, but I just wanted to give you guys a heads up because it kind of changes how furniture and living spaces work and you deserve to know before you show up and see a different looking room. Also the reason they're still called 1 and 2 bedroom apartments is because if you're married or have kids you can get these apartments without the converted room. That's why if you look on the housing site you see giant living rooms with spacious windows. Because you COULD get those, but just not as an unmarried student (annoying, I know). Anyway, I know it's confusing but if anyone has more questions about it just PM me because I just went through this. And this wasn't to scare you because Einstein is still awesome and we all love it here. Housing management can just be aggravating.
