my sister got that email. it's from the drexel financial aid office. It tells you to click on the link and fill out the additional application for Drexel institutional aid.

I called yesterday and was told "they are but not really". I'm assuming they will only give out additional invites if anyone cancels or declines their current invitation. At least thats what they made it seem like. Best of luck to everyone though!!
 
Got the final decision status sometime this afternoon. After waiting for a little over 17 weeks after my interview, I really hope it's good news! :xf:
 
No decision update....
I guess I would get it in April...Interviewed mid January.
 
It was definitely a successful year for Drexel. Overall, people were happy with their matches. Probably the only minor hiccup is that a few students will be doing Prelim Surgery years and then reapplying. I would type out the list.... but that's a pain in the ass for 234 students. They'll post the 2012 Match List on the school website soon enough.
 
Good news for anyone? I got the "final decision" status last Friday (interviewed 1/17) and I'm still waiting for the letter to arrive... I never received this FAFSA email that some people were talking about, so I really hope it's not a rejection! :scared:
 
Interviewed at the end of Jan. Finally under review by the admission committee. So much waiting. I feel like I am going crazy!
 
You are the one whose application went to the committee within a couple of weeks after the interview right?

I thought I was in the same boat as you are...but..still no decision.
I guess next week...I will get a decision..<- this is too hopeful..maybe next next week

hi i was accepted on 3/5 and just released my background check info. i'm worried about the two misdemeanor underage drinking charges that came up. can any current students or anyone else comment on whether or not this is going to be a problem? thanks.

It certainly could be. There is a spectrum of severity and if this was you caught at 2 parties when you were young, I personally wouldn't put too much weight on it (compared to a DUI or assault or disorderly conduct), but I'd consider how long ago it occurred. If you were 18 or 19 and you are now 28 or 29, then I'd be pretty dismissive, but if you're 22, then 3-4 years isn't that long ago. Most of us drank underage and many of us may have been present at parties that got "busted", but most of us didn't get caught. So, the fact you got caught twice is concerning. You may have some explaining to do. Be honest. Say you learned your lesson and that it will never happen again - and mean it! Ultimately, I don't know how Drexel or other schools handle this, but I wouldn't be surprised if they accept you, but I also wouldn't be surprised if they reconsidered, too. The real problem could be when its time for 3rd year as some hospitals or practices may not be as forgiving. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will be able to provide some insight.

Are you sure that you got the final decision status on 3/13, Tuesday?
I thought it is done only on Fridays.

I might have to start checking the status on Tuesdays depending on your answer...lol, although I did not get the decision today lol.

Can I know your stat? MCAT and GPA? and also rough ranking of your undergrad school in US news.com. My undergrad's ranking is early 30s.

Have any Class of 2016'ers started looking for a roommate/housing yet? 🙂 I'll be starting as an MS1 this year too and I currently live in Drexel's graduate apartments, Stiles Hall in downtown/Center City. Really hoping to be able to live with a fellow female DUCOM med student next year.

Stiles Hall is a high rise that's right across the street from the hospital/cafeteria/24-hour library and most importantly, the free shuttle to and from the Queen Lane campus (a ~15min ride; runs M-F, 5AM - 10PM). The area of East Falls around the QL campus is quaint but there's literally nothing but houses around there (not even a coffee shop!) and you need a car to get around so I prefer living in Center City where it's a lot more convenient + safe, as there's 24/7 security also.

I'm looking for someone to share the 2-bedroom apartment I have with next year (current roomie is graduating). If you're interested, PM me and I'll gladly provide more info/photos (the apartment has great views of the skyline!). Thanks and hope to see some of you at the second look :woot:

Just got a status update: Thank you for your interest in Drexel University College of Medicine. Our interview season has concluded. All applicants who have not been interviewed are being released from consideration for the 2012 application cycle.

So..I interviewed all the way back on Dec. 6 and my status STILL says that "your file is with committee member and will be reviewed by committee soon".

Is this normal lol?

I'm on the same boat, but I interviewed a month ago. I was hoping to have my mine sent to committee this week, as it seemed to be the case for a few people (4 week turnaround), but I guess the wait continues. I would give them a call if I were you. Interviewed 1/23, i think. And my stats are 32 and 3.86.

And I must say it feels really good to see a final decision on my status page. I think it is mainly due to the waiting i have gone through. I am gonna enjoy next week as if I have gotten in.

And I want to also say that I was with the committee in a week after the interview. So it was really fast till then but I was with the committee for over an 8 week period. But anyway, I feel good - just like what James Brown had said on the interview.

Last week. Thursday or Friday. Got the letter about a week later
 
Does drexel tell you your position on the waitlist?
Also, how much does the waitlist move?

I have been asking people about their stats. and more I ask around, I realize it is not
MCAT and GPA that gets them in. Certainly, I did not see the trend where the higher stats get you the acceptance. It is rather vexing...

But It still feels good that I will wait just one more week to get the answer!!

This is one of the things I really like about Drexel. They don't just look at GPA and MCAT. They look at the whole application. I have a 3.57 GPA and a 31 MCAT and I was accepted. It also depends on the connection you had on your interview. I'm from Seattle and my interviewer visits Seattle all the time so my interview started off really well. Good luck to all of you still waiting.

They must be trying to connect the applicant with the interviewer geographically. Because, my interviewer also had frequently visited the country I was born and he even had his name written in the language I spoke. When I entered the room, I was surprised.

Man, I had a nightmare last night. I got rejected in my dream. And I am so afraid to check the mail box.
 
I received the final decision status about a week ago, but got a waitlist letter in the mail today. Just thought I'd share. Maybe the statuses aren't as telling as I thought?

I just got the "A decision has been made" status...Really hopeful for better than waitlist, but this tosses things up a little bit. I guess we will find out soon.
