Those who got interviews today, can you please post when were you complete and your stats if you do not mind. Thanks

Interview invite!! Complete 8/5, 3.75 c&s/33Q

I am writing to share my successful in the area e-mail experience. I was complete 9/6, sent the e-mail 9/22, didn't receive any direct response to my message, but was invited to interview today. I just wanted to add to what others have said that Georgetown is responsive to these kinds of e-mails. All the best to my fellow applicants!

may I ask what you included in the letter?

Also, I will be "In the area" on October 26th, is this too late to mention to them?

how do these letters work, anyhow?

ahhhh. these interview invitees "complete dates" are getting closer and closer to mine. i'm really hoping for a shot at Georgetown!

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if Georgetown offers student host options?

Thanks!

Yes, they do. I stayed with one when I interviewed and it was a great experience. In your invite email there is a link to a page with info for interview applicants. On that page there is a link to a pdf document that spells out the student host program (in the Important Resources section).

Sure. I first acknowledged that interviews are only offered to select candidates, then I explained that I would like the admissions committee to know that I would be in the area on such and such days for interviews and if offered an interview at Georgetown, and the timing is available, then I would like to schedule an interview.

EDIT: I think it may be too late but you can try. The earliest interview they're offering is November 1st.

Basically, the email doesn't change your chances but rather speeds up your wait time in order to accommodate your schedule. It seems like my review would not have been this quick if I wasn't planning this trip

rejected. 9/29 complete 8/16. not surprised but I would have loved to attend if given the chance. good luck to the rest.

So for those who sent "in the area" e-mails, you guys don't necessarily live in the DC area, or anywhere nearby right?

Hey Buddy,

I just got an interview invite today!!!!! I am sooooooooooooo excited about this school 🙂 I live in St. Louis, and I am going to be in the area for another interview, so I sent an in the area interview a few days ago to see if they would accommodate my situation. I am still kind of in shock, and I have been wandering around confused/excited for the past 15 minutes. Anyway, I do not live in the area/ I am not a resident of the East Coast. I was complete 8/12 if that helps at all. PM me if you want my stats or anything, I am trying to be as discrete as possible because I have identified people I know from my school, and I want to keep these things private for now.

Rejected today complete early august. Wasn't my top choice anyway...

I've been complete at Gtown since 8/9 still haven't heard anything. Is it 'no news is good news?' right now? I saw they sent out a wave of rejections, as well as a few interviews. Anyone in the same boat as me?

What is the best airport to fly into to get to GU?

Flying into BWI is so much cheaper but I'm guessing it would probably be a hassle to get to campus? Thoughts?

Reagan. Has the subway attached to it.

Reagan is most convenient. I took a cab from Reagan to my student host's house and it was about $20. Going back was easy: GUTS bus to Rosslyn and then Metro to Reagan.

On interview day, some people in my group had their interview at 2 pm and were done before 2:30. I was the very last one to go and spent over an hour in the fishbowl, but I didn't mind because I had a chance to talk more with the other candidates. My day ended at 4:15 pm.

Good luck to those interviewing.

If time is not an object (maybe an extra 1-1.5 hours), you can take the MARC train from BWI to Union Station, where you can connect with the Metro Red Line. The GUTS also runs from Dupont Circle, also on the Red Line. Or you can take the B30 bus from BWI to Greenbelt station, but that means more time spent on the Metro.

Reagan is definitely the easiest.

I was complete 8/15 and still havent heard. Not sure what it means though

Hello Everyone,

I have been away for a little bit (busy with exams). I have a little bit of breathing room and i am here to continue to answer any of your questions. I hope all is well and that the interview cycle has been going good for each and every one of you.

Rejected today. Complete 8/10, 36Q, 3.7 GPA.

Oh well, good luck to everyone else still waiting to hear back!

Sorry to those rejected today. I wondered if y'all would mind sharing the time you received the email. It would be nice to establish a pattern to this madness- like, do they send rejections/invites out in batches via email, or on certain days of the week, etc...?

same boat without an oar. complete on 8/12. nothing since then. i'm hoping for the "no news is good news" option.

so does georgetown change their status page well before they send out interview emails?

I'm planning on flying home right after the interview, however, the latest flight out is 550pm and I'm scared I might miss my check in time. Can anyone comment on the travel time to National airport from GU? I know google maps estimates about 17 minutes but I'm scared of the traffic. Thanks in advance

I've been super busy with exams as well, but I, too am here to answer questions (after Friday when my virology exam is over) Anyway, again, I'm an M2, and totally willing to answer any questions. Just don't ask me if you will get in, because I can't help you with that.

Awww man...that was on my mind 😉

It will probably take more time than that in traffic with DC being DC but your best bet would probably be the Georgetown shuttle to Rosslyn and taking the Blue line to National (like 10 minutes). If you get out of the interview right at 4, you'll probably be okay.

They ask if anyone has an early flight. I had the first interview and was at the airport by 3pm.

Thanks a lot 🙂. I think I'll look into that.

Do they ask that on interview day or should I write them an email to let them know? Thanks for your help 🙂
