Thanks giving should be officially over in 40min or so. Anxiously expecting II invite next week (prediction). The wait is killing me. All attempt to keep myself distracted had failed.
When did you submit your secondary/receive conformation that your secondary was received?

The Lord is full of blessings, and I put my complete trust in Him. Anything can happen with Him. I pray that He grant us success and I hope each of us can get into medical school. Hoping the coming days brings good news to us all from Howard. 🙂

I'm sad that Thanksgiving break is over, but also excited for the possibility of hearing back from Howard again! Yay for all of us in the waiting gang!

I love the vibe on this thread😀 If we all find each other next year, we'll be a great group. Anyone heard further?
Meanwhile, after being told I'm accepted via phone, I'm still waiting on the snail mail packet, and I live in the DC 'burbs! Can't shake the scary thought that they messed up and I'm not actually accepted, LOL. Going to call them today.
Good luck all... things have to start picking up around here soon, right?

Faith isn't the ability to believe long and far into a misty future. It is simply taking God at his Word and taking the next step~ Toni Erickson Tada
Throughout many of my previous devotions, there has been a recurrent theme about trusting God. Having the opportunity to reflect over my past entries, I realized that it is impossible to expect anyone to trust God if they do not know how to do so. I mean even when people say to us "Trust me," we usually have two thoughts "Ok, I'll trust you," or "why should I?" And to be honest, the latter usually takes precedence. If that's the case with people, how could possibly trust someone we cannot see or feel? Well my dear loved ones, I have some news for you. In the case of God, when you begin to fully understand why you should trust him, actually doing so becomes instinctual. This morning I want to discuss with you some of the many reasons why you should trust God.
One of the main reasons why God should be trusted is because unlike us human beings, he is worthy of it. It's just that simple. God will never fail you or rescind on his promises. " God is not a man that he should lie, nor a son of man that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and then not fulfill? (Numbers 23:19) Friends and family we serve a faithful God. There is nothing that he says he will do that he will not fulfill. God has the power to bring to pass what he sets out and plans to do. In Isaiah 14:24 we are reminded: "Surely as I have planned, so it will be, as I have purposed so it will stand. Folks, if we aspire to ever fully trust Him, we must be willing to get to know him, through his WORD. To know him is to TRUST him; to trust him is to LOVE him.
God is not going to tell us to trust him if he is not willing put out and show us why we should do so. God has proven in our lives and in the lives of others why he is worthy of our trust. Even if you are unwilling to trust him on the account of your life, trust him on the account of the testimony of someone else. In 1Kings 8:56 we read "Praise be to the Lord who has given rest to his people Israel just as he promised. Not one word has failed for all the good promises he gave through his servant Moses." Folks if he could part the Red Sea, send food from the heavens above, and faithfully guide the Israelites out of Egypt into the promised land, what in your life is so hard that he cannot accomplish? Will you trust him?
I leave you with this folks: what other alternative do you have besides to just TRUST him? You have trusted yourself and others countless times and have come out empty handed time and time again. So why not try something new? The choice is ultimately yours. God is an all-wise, all-knowing, all powerful, gracious and loving father who has nothing but great intentions for you. Take a leap of faith today and get to know him. He has not made himself difficult to find or to know; everything you need to know about him is written in his Holy Word. Take a radical approach and I guarantee you will see him in a new and remarkable way. If he can do it for me, he can do it for you!
Prayer of the day: Dear heavenly father, thank you for the opportunity to get to know you in a new and radical way. Lord sometimes I just don't know how to trust you. Give me the strength to do so anyway. I may not know how you are going to work out my situation but I know that you will work it out ultimately for my good. Lord, continue to show yourself strong in every area of my life. My only desire is to serve you. Give me the courage to look past my fears and wholeheartedly follow you. In Jesus' name, AMEN!
Power verses:
Romans 8:28- And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose
Psalm 100:5- For the Lord is good and his love endures forever, his faith

Im praying that we will get to join you next year at Howard! 🙂 So far, many of us are marked complete and hoping for that next good news from Howard.
Great post Vessel of Honor! 🙂
I love God with all my heart and soul, and in God do I put my complete trust and faith. With Him, anything can be accomplished and nothing is impossible. God opens doors that no man can close. God works in ways that we cant even imagine. He is the Most Merciful and Most Loving. It's amazing how even having a small amount of faith (even a mustard seed) can do so much. I pray to Him and He will help me. Howard is where I want to go for medical school! 🙂
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

Like everyone else here, I love the vibe of this thread. It's so different than the others I've seen so far. I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I graduated in May and am doing research for the year. I feel really fortunate to have 1 acceptance so far. I sent my app in at Howard early September but I was in that batch of people who got the email saying their application was never received even though I sent it. I called every week and had to resend it, but haven't heard anything yet/ Has anyone in the same situation heard back yet? Best of luck to everyone! 🙂

Welcome green1! Happy to hear about your acceptance. If you sent your application and haven't heard anything I would suggest to let them know about your situation. They usually take calls on Monday 10:30-12, also Thursday and Friday from 2-3:30. Their phone number is 202-806-6279 and the email is [email protected]. I hope you hear well and that your application is there. 🙂
After reading the HU thread I've decided to come out of my hole and join this community. I cannot believe the amount of support in this thread it is so encouraging! I got verified in mid October but never received a secondary application from HU. I thought they screen so I kind of gave up however something told me to just email them and ask them if they will be sending me a secondary. Honestly when i sent that email I thought for sure they would email me back stating that they did screen and decided not to send me an application but to my surprise the next day they emailed me the secondary application. This was 2 weeks ago so I know through UPS that they have received but now i'm just waiting.....I decided to stop stressing about it and to trust in God because He is the only one who can see the future. I have faith in Him that I will get an interview invite and will get accepted in Jesus Name! Lol..my faith is all I have so for those in similar situations like me, let us trust in the Lord..He has the ultimate say and thus let His will be done! It is not coincidence that God put the will in our hearts to desire to become doctors, because He has a plan for us. So I'm trusting int he Lord with all my heart and not leaning on to my own understanding and I know my hearts desires (to be come a doctor) shall be added onto me!
ps. I'm so happy to see other people here who have a passion for Christ! Its so awesome! Praise God!

Hello DoctorDang and Miss Dee Dee! Hope your exams went well! 🙂
Every evening I turn my worries over to God. Hes going to be up all night anyway~ Mary C. Crowley
How are you? That is usually the hot question of the day, right? Sometimes I just have those days where I have to muster all the energy within me to say I am fine, and you? A part of me cringes because truthfully I am not ok and dont think I could possibly bear to hear the issues of someone else. But it is on those days God stretches me the most. Even in the midst of my despair, somehow a friend or loved one manages to call with an issue seeking my guidance; suddenly my issues seem insignificant. During those moments I look up to God and I say Lord I am not sure I have it in me to give. I cannot take any more words into a soul cram-full. How can you expect me to pour out refreshment that is not there? And then the Lord suddenly responds whoever refreshes others will be refreshed (Proverbs 11:25)
Folks, we all have those days. Days when you are feeling completely full and yet totally empty. But it is during those times God embraces you even tighter. He caresses you with his loving hands ever more gently. And then he asks the famous question, How are you? And then you say:
Lord I am weary. And he responds: I am your God, I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10)
Lord I feel alone. And he responds And surely I am with you always to the end of age. (Matthew 28:20)
Lord I dont think I can take anymore. And he responds: Come to me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)
The more you pour out, the more he pours into you. I leave you with this folks: when the world continually empties you out and never refills, the Lord will quench your every thirst. He will reach deep within you and fill every crack and crevice. Take his hand and walk with him. His refreshment awaits you; he is eagerly waiting to ask, How are you?
Prayer of the day: Dear heavenly father thank you for the assurance that even when the seasons change, you will forever remain the same. Thank you for always being there to listen and to comfort me. Lord even when I am far away from you, you are always there to embrace me into your tender loving care; I thank you. On your solid rock I will forever stand, for your love endures forever and ever. In Jesus name, Amen
Power Verses:
Malachi 3:6- I am the Lord, and I do not change
John 15:15- I no longer call you slaves, because a master does not confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the father told me.

I love the positivity and encouragement on this thread!🙂 God willing, we will all get accepted into our dream school!🙂

This is not to get anyone riled up, but i was just in the Pre-Medical Allopathic forum and someone has gotten accepted into Howard and EVMS. She or he was asking the people on there about their opinions of her two choices. Of course as expected, the so called elites of SDN told her to go to EVMS, because they all have this notion that Howard is a bad school. I am glad a guy over there posted the match list for Howard. It was equivalent if not better than EVMS. I was so pissed off, i had to comment lol. Anyways, this is a shout out to Howard!!! Go HBCUs. You guys make us proud.

hey paakwasi! I really love Howard and I would be very happy and pleased as a student here! I'm praying to my Lord to get in here! 🙂
It seems from last year's thread that the committee went on winter hiatus Dec 16th (they sent out an e-mail to applicants) ...I hope we receive good news before then!
I'm hoping and praying with you! 🙂

Herein lies the issue I have with this site. People come on here, some of whom have serious narcissistic personalities or are mad because they really DIDNT get into a school that they thought was a safety school, and disparage these schools. I mean seriously, you got into two schools, if this is true, why do you feel like conferring with ppl on this site is a good way to make your decision? Same goes for those What are my chances people...cmon man! Thats why I stay out of those forums, or the ppl who ALWAYS ask why HBCUs have majority minority students...just STFU and go on the school's website look at the history and use your big brain to come to a conclusion...gah! OK rant over...im I just have no tolerance for stupidity. smh
How is everyone doing otherwise?

It is unfortunate that there are people who think in this terrible way. If you don't like a school, then don't apply. I see Howard as being an outstanding school and I love everything about that school. I will say that this school is my top choice, and if I get accepted here this is where I will be. 🙂
Same old Same old...you know how it is.
I hope your days are well! 🙂
