I was blessed to have the opportunity to interview yesterday and I have to say: I WAS BLOWN AWAY. Here's my takeaway
😉 from just the interview day, I won't be repeating stuff you may find online, etc.
I don't know if it was the fact that it was the last day of Black History Month or just the massive history around us throughout the day but it was extremely humbling and inspiring. The halls and faculty offices are filled with evidence of the longstanding legacy at the school. By the end of the day, I became a true believe in the fact that what a lot of other schools are just implementing in their education in the name of cultural sensitivity, service to the community, and meeting the needs of communities in need, HUCM has been doing since inception, over 140 years ago.
The most valuable asset I found was the camaraderie amongst the students - they seemed like family to one another. They were very warm in their interactions, especially with us interviewees. Even though they were very busy and probably had assignments/studying to do, everyone made sure to answer any questions we have and guide us, one-by-one. I can truly see myself thrive amongst this crowd, God-willing
😀.
Finally, the director of admissions (Ms. Walk) went above and beyond what we'd expected to calm us down and make sure we all felt comfortable from the moment we sat in the our chairs in the morning. She wasn't feeling well, but her energy, enthusiasm, and deep-rooted passion towards HUCM and the college mission was CLEAR in every sentence.
If you have any other specific questions about the interview day, feel free to ask. I wish everyone with upcoming interviews good luck! Just be yourself and let your awesome personality shine =) Those waiting for invites, be patient and don't lose hope. If you have any significant updates, don't hesitate to email them about it. They truly value those sincerely interested in the school.
And now my question to those accepted lol how long did it take before hearing from them?!?!?! I don't mean to be impatient or anything, just wondering - I'm definitely eager to find out.
