Hey all,

I have an interview on the 14th of december here! Can anyone give me a run down on how to get from the airport to 1100 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA, aka the Hilton Garden Inn Philadelphia Center City? Also anything I must do while I am in the area?
jim's steaks on south street. south and 5th

You can take a cab (which usually runs about $30) or you can take the regional rail from the airport to Market East (has an exit near 11th and filbert) and walk one block north from there to Arch.

Unless you have a lot of bags, I'd recommend taking the train. It's only about $6 and you can easily walk to your hotel from there. China town has some good restaurants, and since you'll be in the area, definitely check out reading terminal market (51 north 12th street, between filbert and arch).

At this point, does "Decision Pending" infer silent rejection?

So my status has been "Decision Pending" since mid-August.. and then this past week it changed to "Interview Decision Pending."

Does this just mean they finally got around to opening my application?

It means, as always, not a whole lot. People's applications changed statuses from DP to IDP many times last year, and there wasn't a correlation on SDN for interviews.

tl;dr: Who knows?

Maybe. Or they may just not have offered you an interview yet. They offer interviews up to mid-April. If someone cancels, they do their best to find an immediate replacement.

take lady liberty...

its a $10 dollar shuttle... then you wont need to walk.... you can call for it at baggage claim

i interviewed on nov. 9th and still haven't heard a peep. hope my interviewer didn't go on a month-long vacation or something...

Wow. I was really hoping to hear ANYTHING today, don't want to wait another week

Received an "interview deferred" status a few weeks ago. Does that ever turn into an interview here or is that just a hold pool until rejections come out?

Did it say "Interview Decision Pending"? That's what I've had for months now...

took me a helluva year on the waitlist but I FINALLY GOT ACCEPTED TO JEFFERSON!!

been waiting so long and it seems second time is the charm 🙂

High priority waitlist (just got an email).....I know it's not a rejection but I'm still sad because I really really really wanted to go to Jeff 🙁

Anyone know if there is much movement typically with this waitlist?

high priority waitlist +1 🙁 just received email as well. interviewed on the 16th.

mine used to stay that initially. I'm guessing your file is still under review. Anyone else in the deferred pile? or better yet deferred and moved to interview?

So so happy to get accepted. Got the call about 2:15. First acceptance, can't believe it!

does anyone know if people get off the hp waitlist during interview season? in the email Dr. Callahan said we'd be considered at a later date, wondering if that means the adcom gets together to pick people off the waitlist every now and then or if they review the waitlisted altogether at the end of the app cycle.

I didn't even get a call! My decision still says "Attended Interview" and I interviewed last week.. 🙁 scared

👍 congratulations you guys!!! well deserved.

Thank you! Goodluck to everyone! I got waitlisted last year and unfortunately I never got off minus all the hype they were giving me =[ Tried again and here it is 😍

Whoever hasn't heard yet, you will. It matters when your interviewer meets with the committee. GOODLUCK AND KEEP TRYING EVERYONE!!

Thanks so much everybody. It's very likely I will attend next year. Anybody else feeling the same?

I have a tough decision to make, but Jefferson is definitely at the top. The location is awesome, and it's a great school. Choosing a school will likely come down to where I can live. I kind of want to find a more affordable place in downtown rather than stay part of the student housing.

You from the Philadelphia area?

Yeah nearby. I obviously haven't heard back from every school but Jeff seems to be my most likely. For the location, the housing isn't that bad at all if you live with a room mate

Hey everyone thank you for the great travel advice. Anyone have a basic outline of the interview day? One faculty and one student interview? What kind of questions are asked?
Thank you in advance.

II today, for tomorrow! I live in Philly and am in Jeff's MPH program, so it's not biggie. I interviewed last year, so I think they were just trying to fit me in. Also, they said the next interviews they're scheduling are for February.

I just checked my status and it says "interview to be scheduled" but I haven't received an email or any other info. Has this happened to anyone else? If so, how long until you are actually scheduled for an interview?

May I ask when you were complete?

I was complete at the end of August, so I'm a little disbelieving that I finally got an interview. I really hope its for real - trying not to get my hopes up until I actually get an invite email.

It's for real.

As I recall, I received my email 2-3 days after I saw my status had changed. Best of luck on your interview. Feel free to PM me with questions (that goes for everyone.)

I apologize if this has been addressed in the past. I interviewed last Wed Dec 14 and we were told we could email Dean Callahan or Brooks if we were really interested in going to Jefferson. I'm assuming this is after a decision has been made following the adcom meeting? Also, has anyone sent thank you emails to their faculty or student interviewers?

No. Expressing a strong interest in attending Jeff is a plus in the admissions decision. Callahan likes to hear that people really want to attend Jeff. What's the point in sending such an email after a decision has been made? You're in or you're not at that point, regardless of how strong your interest is.

Would it up your chances of getting off the waitlist at all? Or once you're WL ranked are you stuck at whatever position you landed?

that makes sense, thanks!

Waitlist is not ranked (or so they say). Yes. As I said above, they like to hear that a candidate has a strong interest in attending Jeff and that it is not just one of 15 schools that you'd be equally happy to attend.

If you are on WL, I would strongly recommend keeping in touch by email with Callahan/Brooks with any updates to your application and just generally to express your continued strong interest in going to Jeff. Tell them what you like about Jeff and why it's a good fit for you. Keep your name in front of their face. Trust me, when it comes time to pull people off the waitlist it makes a difference.

To be completely honest, this late in the game, it might not be worth your $100. I say save it, but if this school means a lot to you, submit it and make your case in the comments section.

I'll give you the flipside of this comment: During the interview day, the deans told us how thoroughly they review applications and how they keep on reading them all the way up until March while always saving spots until the end. They seem to be pretty fair in that respect. Your chances are definitely lower submitting to any school now, but I think they are a tad bit higher with Jefferson when compared to other schools.

Really cool picture.

You definitely don't have a shot if you don't submit it. Like Jordan said, "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take."

Wayne Gretzky man! Not Jordan 😛

Yes, Jefferson averages your MCAT scores. With an average of 26, I'm not sure if you would be competitive (unless you have super awesome ECs with a lot of community service).

really? always thought it was MJ, makes me happy, gotta love the great one.
