The docs who wrote mine sent them on letterhead, but I'm not sure if it matters.

I would never send a letter of recommendation through email unless they say it's OK for the writer to submit it this way. Even then I would make sure it is on an official letterhead. Better safe than sorry, right?

Did anyone receive a phonecall today about getting an acceptance who interviewed last wednesday??

Yep, I thought they said at least some of us would be hearing the next wednesday?

did you get a phonecall? or are you saying yep to me asking? lol
yep, as in I am wondering also. If I got an acceptance call I would be a bit more enthusiastic.

i feel like if people got in, at least someone would post about it...

I think Jefferson calls all accepted applicants. I got a call a week after I interviewed, although I was told it can take up to three weeks sometimes (depending on how busy the interviewer is).

Just my 2 cents as a current student who had that reservation beforehand, you won't even notice the size of the class once you start. There's plenty of faculty to go around, and the small groups will ensure that you have a core 8-10 classmates that you are really close with (academically, at least). In terms of friends, it just means more to choose from, but no matter what school you attend you'll probably have a small core group anyway.

Yes, it seems like a drawback and my friends in other med schools always have the "gasp" reaction when I tell them our class size. But for all practical purposes, it doesn't really make a difference. You aren't going to be good friends with all ~100 classmates at any other school, and it's no different here. That being said, with 250 people you still recognize everyone and smile at each other in the street, even if you're not particularly well-acquainted with each other. After all, you'll spend 3-5 hours a day in the same lecture hall 5 days a week.

In my humblest opinion, it's just one more number that we think about during the application stage that has no noticeable effect on the actual med school experience. If you liked what you saw here during your interview day in terms of the atmosphere and student happiness, don't let the class size deter you. The students you met were the way they were in spite of (because of?) the class size.

Either way, good luck in the decision process!

Awesome, thanks for the response.

I interviewed 3 weeks ago, 1/18 and I got my phone call yesterday (2/8)...I got in!! :soexcited: They told us on interview day that it depends on how busy your interviewer is, but basically they will let you know within a month maximum.

Recent Interview Invite. Whooo hooo!

Complete mid-September.
I was thinking they passed over me, but I guess not.
Keeping the hope alive:xf:

You just gave me hope that I may still get an invite here...complete in October

Just got an II today for 3/7, been complete since 9/18. There's still hope, even if you have to wait 5+ months!

Alright its Wednesday again! Really hoping for some (good) news for those of us who interviewed on Feb 1. I am undoubtedly overanalyzing but I went back through this thread and it seems like people hear either one week or three weeks after. Anyway hopefully I'm wrong and we hear today . . .

I heard two weeks after. Good luck

Got the call today and got in! So happy, it's my first acceptance and I really think Jeff is a great fit for me. I interviewed 2/1

I had long, painful waits after my first two interviews only to get waitlisted, so this feels great. Best of luck to everyone, it's such a rediculous process but just keep at it!!!

ah congrats! you must feel so relieved! I'm still waiting for my first! i interview here next week :scared:

Interviewed 2/1, HP wait list as well.

This was my top choice, so hoping to hear better news down the line from them...

I just read the email again, and I'm not sure if this is actually a wait list or if it's just a "high priority category" to be evaluated at a later date for a spot. They never actually use the words "wait list". Seems more like a deferral of decision.

This is awesome!!! I have been complete since the end of JUNE and just got an II! It's been almost 7 months since my last invite...I'm so pumped for this right now!

Letter of interest/update sent. Probably should have done it sooner. Let you know how it goes.

Good luck to all of you with interviews and those still waiting. Keep up hope! I just interviewed and had a great time...definitely a great community at Jefferson. Crossing my fingers for good news in a couple of weeks!

I've been at "Interview to be scheduled" for a week and havent received an email or anything actually scheduling the interview. Previously it was posted here that it typically takes 2-3 days to get the scheduling email.

Should I call admissions or just wait it out and stop being paranoid?

anyone still at a pre-interview "decision pending?"

I have also had this status since September. I've been thinking about writing an update letter but I'm not too sure how much good it will do at this point.

Yes, I have been there since September. I dont know if they reject pre interview. Do they?

Its one of those continue to review messages. Interview pending means they are still reviewing your profile. Interview deferred probably means they like what they saw but not enough to give an interview at this point and not bad enough to reject out right. So they will probably hold me in preinterview purgatory for a while.

Then what does Decision Pending mean? aka the status I have had for the last 4-5 months 🙂

I was invited for an interview. I really love Philadelphia as a city but I am not very familiar with Jefferson. Could anybody tell me why they applied, what they liked about the interview, why they enjoy going to school there? I am trying to decide if I will buy a cross-country ticket to interview (I live in northern california). just trying to get a picture of the culture of jefferson.

Mind sharing date of interview and complete date?

What other interviews have you had?

And to answer your question, the lunch at Jefferson's interview day was amazing, and I applied because I thought I might get in.

I loved it because the school is awesome.

I'm currently a 4th year at Jefferson so I'll take a shot at your last question:

1. The people - The class is pretty big, but I have an amazing core of friends and have gotten to know my classmates pretty well. For the most part, everyone tries to help each other out and people are pretty laid back. Also, there are so many ways to get involved with different activities...there's around 100 clubs as well as intramural sports (I think there's something like 10 different lunchtime talks/activities going on this week), so it's pretty easy to find like-minded people.

2. Clinical training - I definitely felt that I got great clinical training, especially during 3rd year of medical school. The attendings and residents really tried to teach and give responsibility to 3rd year medical students, which doesn't always happen.

3. Location - Jefferson really is in the best part of Philadelphia...everything is walkable and you can really enjoy everything that Philadelphia has to offer

Hopefully that helps a bit. Overall, I definitely appreciated and enjoyed my experience at Jefferson and am really glad that I chose to come here.

Ultimately, it'll come down to whether you want to end up on the east coast (my class has 25 people who are from CA). If you're looking at places on the east coast, then Jefferson's definitely worth checking out. Good luck with med school interviews!

Pretty quiet out there for a Wednesday...any news...anyone??

declined my interview invite i received last week for 3/28. hope one of you get it!

The Committee on Admissions, after reviewing your application, has placed you in the Alternate Category.
Ugh. So it isn't even a position on the high priority waitlist- cuz it would say high priority somewhere if it were a high priority waitlist, right?
Ah!! Waitlist #4... 0 acceptances
