That's a great idea. I'm totally doing this.

Just looking at Mayo students on MDapps and wow, I feel inadequate.

Still nothing since 7/6 LOR Request. I feel like I'm having to dodge rejections left and right!

I can now truly understand this man's plight, observe:

I got an interview invite couple weeks ago, but don't remember getting a LOR request? 😕😕

You must have, because Mayo definitely gives out LORs first. Is it there if you check your email?

Nope, I have a bad habit of hoarding emails -- no trace of anything but the Fee request.

I'm thinking the only possibility is that when I applied in AMCAS I attached my LOR's then... So they didn't need to "request" them, per se (being that they were already available).

I'm not complaining!

Awesome man! :luck:

ahhhh we're all looking for the right words, mayo... here's a little something from all us applicants..

Had a dream that I received an interview invite...and then I woke up to one lurking in my mailbox! First one for this year 🙂

This is a silly question, but when you all say "student host," is that just someone who shows you around or is that someone you are staying with?

Time line for those interested:
Submit Fee: 7/21
LOR Request: 7/27
Fee Received: 8/2
Interview Invite: 8/27

Good luck to those with interviews coming up and to everyone else still waiting for responses.

Congratulations on the invite. "Student Host" is a current MMS student who hosts interviewees for the night before their interview....however not surprisingly many of the same student hosts will be tour guides and present for lunch the following day.

Thanks, Wisco1. I just found this info on their website as well. oops!

This is a great one to start with! Congrats, and may it be the first of many.

So long as you have the invite! That's the important thing.

I'm thoroughly pleased to hear this guy was rejected.

I lol'ed when I read this. I believe this person went to UC Irvine judging from the anteater handle. Glad another one of my peers continually gives us a great name. 😀

You should check out his remarks in the Davis thread :meanie:

I still love the Anteaters (almost as much as the Banana Slugs).

:wow: I cannot believe he wrote that. Thanks for the referral to the Davis thread.

BTW, that troll is what I have to deal with on a daily basis at bio sci at UCI. Anyone sympathize with me? Oh, and can you imagine tutoring people like this? :roflcopter:

Maybe Mayo knows what they're doing, after all...

Lol! too funny premed.

I really hope that Mayo sees that I am a well rounded and genuinely a nice person (and I hope they value that too.) :xf:

Interviews end in december... is Mayo the only school that expedites the season to such a degree?

It's the only school I know of that ends its interviews in December. Lots of schools still accept applications until january/february.

Now I play the waiting game.

Not exactly my favorite past-time, but what can you do? :xf:

Anyone know if legacy is worth anything here?

Hard to say. I know several people with Mayo physicians in their family were rejected, both pre-LOR and pre-interview, so maybe less than elsewhere?

To the extent of my knowledge, yes. Last year they added more interview dates rather than extend the interview season beyond the holidays. This is probably practical as well as personal choice - who wants to visit Rochester for the first time in January/February?

ooooo yah. You make a very good point. A lot of these schools are in some very cold/snowy places. I imagine the school would seem far less appealing when you're visiting for the first time in the middle of a snowstorm.

I just got the famous "2:32-AM-we-want-your-100-dollars" email last night. I am sure I will receive a swift rejection.

I figured I'd try 🙄

Am I correct in assuming that I'm SOL if I haven't received a LOR request >2 weeks after paying the $100 fee?

🙁 weaksauce

i had almost 2 weeks between fee received and LORs requested emails. ain't over til it's over 🙂

No.

It says on their website that they review the applications (presumably after receiving the 100 dollars) in 2-to-3-week periods at a time.

It's all about when the members of the admission committee are available. Most of the time the members have other duties, so they don't just sit around waiting to read applications. It's done when they make the time to do it.

Patience!

P...at....ience.....?

😳

I submitted fee on 7/27 - no lor email, no rejection. So, it has been longer than the 2-3 week time period for me. Probably not a good sign that I have not received a lor email. I'm pretty sure the notorious Mayo - Not Selected - 3 am email is in my near future.

Waiting sucks.

Just thought I'd add two cents here. Last year, receipt of my LOR's was acknowledged with the LOR Received email on 8/17, and invitation to interview did not come until 9/10 (more than 3 weeks). End of August/Early September is traditionally the busiest time for admissions due to the flood of applications coming in.

It's not over 'til it's over. Patience will save you lots of stress this season.

LOR Request mid July....no LOR received email...no rejection..no interview...should i call them?...i dont wanna bug them, they probably get 200+ calls a day

Just rejected post LOR Request (7/6)..don't normally post about rejections or interview invites, but felt like sharing for this one. As much as any rejection sucks, this one was really fun to wait for! 😛 Good luck to everyone else still in the running :xf:

I wouldn't call - I know it sucks to not know, but just be patient. Some people heard a month and a half after their LOR request, either rejections or invitations.

Just got rejected, LOR request on 7/22.

Thanks for posting, NN and rika! Good luck to both of you.

LOR request 7/1
No LOR received email
Rejected 8/29

LOR Request 07/21
LOR Received 08/02
Not Selected 08/29

Good luck to all the other applicants!

Just got a LOR Received e-mail....LOR Request 7/6.

uh, wow...

LOR Request 7/1 LOR received 8/29? This is looking like a common theme.

I got my fee received e-mail on July 25 but have never gotten LOR request e-mail... should I be worried?
