But if the 4-8 week rule holds true, this November batch seems to apply to only a very, very small group of people... no? So if we assume the fastest of ~4 weeks, then we're talking about applicants who interviewed before the first week of October (which just includes the full month of Sept, and if applicable, August). If we assume ~8 weeks, then we're talking about almost no-one... But then again, I haven't checked previous years' threads for Feinberg so I have no idea 🙂

So I just went through a few old threads, and I think Nov decisions are made MID-Nov... 11/11 or after-ish. Also, I might just be behind, but it seems that they continue to roll out decisions after that mid-Nov point (as opposed to waiting all the way till March). I thought Feinberg gave out decisions in Nov OR Mar(or Feb). No? Anyway, it seems that most people beginning with earlyOct-interviewees heard back within ~1 month (give or take a week)!!

Hmm, I'm not 100% sure and I haven't looked at last year's thread in a couple of weeks, but I thought that last year's thread had the first acceptances out in the first week of November. I'll have a look through now to see if I can find that again.

Ok, so in the 2009-2010 thread, the first acceptances were issued on November 4th and in the 2010-2011 thread, the first acceptances were issued on November 11th. Let's hope they follow one of these two dates!

Really hoping it's this week! This is my top choice and I would love to cancel some mid-November interviews!

No offense but I hope NW delays the acceptances as long as possible. I have a bit of a late interview heheh..

On another note, cool another U of I student 👍

Selfish :nono:

on another note, shout out to U of I!!!

Good luck everyone! I guess according to the rough timeline, I should be hearing back around Thanksgiving time... Ahhh can't wait! 🙂

Looks like they're sending out more acceptances today. Got one as well. 😀

Deferred to march :/

Congrats to the accepted students!

Deferred to March as well. Anyone have any idea of our chances as far as getting in during March? ;(

Yes, is anyone familiar with the deferral process?
Or the waitlist process for that matter.
I'm specifically curious about timeline and numbers.

Sorry to bug everyone who heard today....but would you guys mind sharing the timeframe in which you interviewed? Also, how were you notified..just via you checking your status page or was there an e-mail? Thanks!

I too just got accepted (wooooooo!!). I interviewed on 10/19, and I got a nice shiny email that was basically repeated word for word on the status page when I logged in.

Does anyone know if Feinberg is accepting people in two big batches? (Today and one other date in March) Or is today just one of the numerous dates? As in, if we don't hear by today, do we have to wait till March or should we give it a few more days?

I wonder when the interview cut-off date is for those who are hearing back now... I'd love to hear back with some good news!!!

Deferred. And kinda heartbroken. Now I have to wait til March to hear from all top 3 choices.

In the same boat here. It's tough, but just gotta keep our heads up and hope for the best in march!

Is anyone actually rejected? Or if you are not accepted, are you automatically deferred?

I think I remember Dean Wallace saying that a small number of applicants will be rejected before March if the admissions committee feels that they won't do well in the specific curriculum structure that Northwestern uses (e.g. small group learning/PBL)

Accepted! I interviewed on October 3rd.

If you're deferred, keep your head up. I know a number of students in our class who were initially deferred, then received their acceptance in March. Being deferred is better than being wait-listed, though I don't believe the wait list will officially begin until late in the interview season.

Congratulations to all those accepted! Hope you're able to come to second-look weekend.

EDIT: Unfortunately I'm not aware of exact numbers though. Sorry guys! :luck:

On my interview day, Dean W said about half will be accepted, about 10% will be rejected upfront, all the rest will be WL'ed

FSM ends up accepting 2/3 of interviewees according to USNWR data. If they accept 1/2 outright, reject 1/10, that leaves 40% deferred or waitlisted, and 42.5% of those will end up accepted.

I hope you're right because I'm in love with Feinberg! Please accept me in March (or earlier!)

did anyone interview in sept and oct and didn't hear anything today? am i the 10%? lol

Right here my friend. Interviewed mid-october and no news today. I'm trying not to freak out...it hasn't been working out too well :scared:

I thought deferred decision (to March) meant literally no decision was made on your file (not even that you will be waitlisted). So the people who are deferred can't be categorized into the 50%(accepted) or the 40%(WL) sectors yet...

I interviewed in mid-late-ish October and haven't heard back. The latest date I saw so far is someone who interviewed Oct19 and got accepted today... I interviewed a bit after that and haven't heard back yet -- though I'm not gonna be so pessimistic yet!

lol wanna get the pity party started?

😀

Considering I am in sweatpants, sitting in a study carrel in the basement of a library, eating my roommate's left over birthday cake that I smuggled in...it looks like the pity party is in full swing

If it makes you guys feel better...I interviewed around the middle of october and didn't hear anything... Is this a consensus established rejection or more neurotic speculation haha? Also, does Northwestern use silent rejections or do they send you an e-mail rejecting you?

I think they would notify you of a rejection, deferral or acceptance over email when they have a decision. Others who have received decisions already can confirm this.

FYI, according to US News, they accepted 67% of interviewees for the time period in which that data was collected. This is consistent with what they have said, which is that they accept 50% of interviews. That means there is a decent amount of waitlist movement also. Odds aren't bad compared to other places for those who are interviewing.

Don't lost hope!
