Did anyone else who interviewed here have a tough interviewer? I know I sure did. 2 separate ethical questions, and felt like I was challenged on everything I said. I think I handled it well, but so much for a nice laid back conversational interview!

if 2nd look is fri , sat, most people fly in on the thursday?

Does OSU send you the paperwork for acceptance via snail mail? I marked that I accept their offer on the MedStar thing but I have no idea how to pay the deposit - they send they would be sending something, but I am not sure if I'm supposed to be looking for snail mail stuff or what ...

I was going to call the admissions office on Monday to double-check, but figured I would start here to see if any recent accepts figured this out already.

Any input would be much appreciated!

They will send it to you via snailmail, so make sure your address is correct in MedStar. The forms they send will give instructions on where to mail the check (which is only $25 as I remember.)

Anyone have any idea when the next batch of acceptances will be going out??

I interviewed recently and they strongly implied that they wanted to get them out before they go on holiday break. I think OSU prides itself on having a relatively short post-interview turnaround.

I completed my secondary in july.. does anyone know what the hold up is?

according to their twitter we should be hearing by Friday!

Don't think there has been any hold up.....Their interview percentage is pretty low.

What is the interview percentage? i.e what is the chance after getting an interview that you actually get accepted?

I am ever so slightly depressed it's not snowing 🙁

Regardless, interviewing here tomorrow and very excited 😀 :luck:

I don't have the packet with me to give you the exact figure but it is near 50%

Last Cycle:

# Applicants=4237
# Interviews=880
# Acceptances=466

Acceptance calls going out tomorrow night, so I will either be very happy (call) or sad (no call, not sure if deferred or rejected) for my biochem final on Thursday. Come on, Ohio State!

Last year it was 50-60 percent, I can't remember off the top of my head but it was high compared to other schools. Not sure if that changed this year.

Good luck!

just got an update! ...med path ...umm ok.. now what? any one have any actual info about the program.. i.e what mcat score do you need to actually get in? and what are the chances after filling out this tedious application and spend another 25 dollars that i get in?

I did! 😀😀😀😀😀 I was deferred before, so the posters above are right, expect to get re-reviewed a lot.

Nope, I didn't send anything in, and neither did a friend of mine who got in a few weeks ago after being deferred. I figured that since this was defer and not waitlist, I could hold off on LOI's.

Quick question, I completed my secondary for OSU over three months ago and have not been invited to interview. Are they still offering interviews or is it pretty much over? 😕

Last year I got an II in January

Has anyone had luck in the past with either an interview or admissions with a secondary turned in December to The Ohio State University? Thanks.

Interview with a secondary submitted very late November. Deferred admission status eventually denied in May. Maybe this helps

Hi, I interviewed about 5 weeks ago and received an acceptance call 2 weeks ago. (Woohoo!) I accepted the offer online the next day, but still not have received the deposit mail. When should I expect it to arrive? I figured I'd ask here before I bother the admissions office.

It is a different office - they are in the holidays or something ... as long as you have accepted your place online, do not worry about the deposit and/or paperwork. They will send it eventually, but the College of Medicine has little to do with it.

Further, they said it will not affect financial aid and/or scholarships.

Hope this helps!

hey everyone! I know this is way early, but I've already been accepted and am 90% sure I am going to Ohio State! (Unless something crazy happens with my San Deigo app lol) so I am now looking for a roommate! I'm either going to rent an apartment downtown (my favorite is Liberty Place) or my dad is going to buy a condo downtown and we would rent 1 of the bedrooms out. If anyone is interested PM me or email [email protected]! Thanks 🙂

Yeah, that's helpful. Thanks! I just wanted to make sure they didn't have something like "return this deposit form within two weeks to hold your spot."

Exactly how lenient is the school being on completion of the anatomy pre-req before matriculation? I'm looking at a community college that offers Human Anatomy and Physiology (A&P) part I in the spring and part II in a summer session that finishes August 8th. Is that too late? Why hasn't Ohio State approved an online course that is based out of Ohio? The out-of-state tuition for the online course they have approved at West Virginia is very expensive considering you aren't getting an in-classroom experience.

Maybe there isn't one? Or the ones in the state are of low quality? I assure you the Admissions office isn't in cahoots with WVU trying to steal your cash, there is probably a good reason.

You're going to have to call about your specific case and ask if that is ok.

If you read the link I provided, it says that all students taking this course pay the in-state rate. Maybe I am understanding it incorrectly, but I believe that's the case.

Edit: forgot to add that you must click the register button. From there it will mention my previous statement.

About how long does it take from secondary submission to a review of the application?

Anyone who submitted their secondary in early October hear back yet for II?

I'm taking the online anatomy course through West Virginia next semester and it is charged at the in-state tuition rate. If you take the 3 hour course with the 2 hour laboratory it costs about $1200.

Thank you everyone! I chatted with WVU and apparently there are certain courses (including anatomy) that everyone can take as a "guest" undergrad at the resident tuition rate. There are no conditions (eg. you are not currently enrolled at another university as a student) that would disqualify you from the resident tuition.

I also called Ohio State and they said that as long as you have completed the course before matriculation and you are just waiting for it to come in, you should be okay. I am going to call the community college to see if I can take the final early just in case. Last year the first years had matriculation on August 7th. This year August 5th is a Monday, so I'm guessing that is the date of matriculation (the office didn't have the academic calendar for 2012 yet). Hope this helps other people in a similar situation!

I would say you aren't out of it yet. Secondary complete mid-Sep, I got an II late Nov, and my interview is the first week of Feb. Not ideal since they do rolling admissions, but I'm grateful just to get an interview at an out of state school. I saw the stats for last year. Only about 1:5 got an interview, but your odds of getting an acceptance after that are over 50%!

So I finally got my paperwork in the mail but it says it isn't due until May 15th? Are we supposed to hold off sending it in until we know for SURE that we are coming? Or should we send it in asap?
