Received rejection from Roosevelt University Psyd program with personalized email today.

Snail mail rejection from University of Missouri - St. Louis' Clinical program. The letter went on to say they had many more qualified applicants then they could take on, and that my qualifications were impressive. They then continued to tell me that second time applicants rarely ever got accepted, unless there was a major improvement in their qualifications. I wonder if they proof read these letters before sending them out....

Rejected from University of Minnesota Counseling Psych Phd (CSPP) not the psych dept program. Via snail mail 2/4.

I have yet to hear anything from GWU PsyD. Does that mean I'm wait listed?

I'm waiting to hear from the schools directly about that before I make assumptions. I have a couple schools I havent heard either way from, and I am just assuming they haven't got around to sending me rejections or whatever.

Rejection via USPS on 1/31/12. Over 350 applicants for 15 spots. Bummer.

Got this too! Not surprised, either.

Ugh two in one day 🙁

Rejected from

University of Kentucky
Central Michigan

Both snail mail, Clinical PhD

At least they said they liked my application...

Not sure if this is a universal thing, but when I was applying for grad school, local bars would give you a free drink if you bring in a grad school rejection letter. Good option for turning a negative into a positive 🙄 good luck!

Not a bad idea! Where are you from that the local bars did this?

Possibly. I hadn't heard from GWU's PsyD program but got an email on 2/8/12 inviting me to interview. So you never know!!!! Hang in there!

Hey guys,
So I am new on here and some of this may be old news but in any event, I have relieved some of the dreaded rejection letters. These were all for PhD Counseling programs and for most of them I received an email and letter in the mail.
Texas A&M
Oklahoma State University
SUNNY
Auburn

And now a quick question: For schools that have earlier deadlines, as in early December, if you haven't heard from them does this mean you probably got wait listed? would it be wise to call them and see?

I am trying to stay positive since most of the schools I applied to haven't sent me any kind of decision. I do feel better reading that others are feeling what I am feeling right now.

Rejections: UGA, e-mail on 2/9

Interview Invitation: University of North Texas, e-mail on 1/26

Waiting to hear from: U of Washington, UCSD/SDSU Joint Program, U of Miami, Georgia State, U of Utah :xf:

All of the programs were Adult Clinical.

Rejection for Clinical PhD program at St. Johns via snail mail - Not surprised, I didn't complete my application 😛

University of Louisville
Program: Clinical PhD
Date received: 1/30
Notified via: mass email from the director.

FYI: 33 applicants have been selected for interview.

Got it too, I felt like **** bc I was really excited about this program 🙁 -ugh-

I really feel like crying sometimes. I have been unable to find a job with my BA in PSY and knowing that 2 out of the 8 schools I have applied had already rejected me makes me freak out a lot more 😕! Ugh 🙁 still trying to be hopefully that I get at least into one program...at least one invitation 🙁

Have they already extended interview invites (that you're aware of)?

Interviews were this past weekend. So I would assume a rejection there, although I'm told they won't be admitting until March.

Thank you for the info! That stinks because that was my top choice. I wonder if it matters that although I was applying for Clinical, the two professors I was applying to work with (and had correspondence with) have their primary appointment in another area. They both study evolutionary psych topics but take clinical students sometimes. 😕

If that's the case, they may only have 1 or 2 spots available. Who knows how many people were applying to those couple of spots and you're always running the risk on them having undergrads in their research who are applying for the same positions as you, since it seems like the area of study is so small and specific given that they are evolutionary psych with clinical maybe?

Bah, March? How did you hear that?
Oh, wait, that's Health Track. Adult Clinical still have more interviews to finish (in February, though), but then I don't know the schedule for admissions.

Oh, I thought it was only Health track that had applicants coming this weekend as well. I thought Adult was finished. Hmm.

Hey guys,
So I got a rejection letter from UMKC the other day. It was mailed to me in a big envelope because although they could not offer me an interview to their PhD program, they wanted me to consider their masters program because they were impressed with my application.
I dont know how to take that but I guess we shall see.
Best of luck to everyone. I know these rejections are never fun. 🙁
