2011-2012 Psychology PhD/PsyD Interview Invite thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
So weird! I spoke to someone from the office this week who said it would be a few more weeks...

I was a bit shocked and freaked out to see that up as well - their deadline was Jan 15th!

Weird...

Fordham University: Counseling PhD
Rejected via mass email 1/20

First official rejection 🙁 boooo

I would like to know about American U as well. Wondering how the applicant was contacted for the interview - mass email or POI?

I too applied to American and Catholic and am hoping there is still hope!

Can anyone say for sure that I have been rejected from Suffolk's Clinical PhD program if I haven't received a mass email yet?
🙁

Yay! My second interview invite!

Did anyone hear back from Case western Reserve University?
If yes, could you me PM me your POI and whether it was a mass e-mail
or personal one?
Thanks

I called Indiana University today, they are holding Counseling Ph.D. interviews on 1/26-27 or 2/9-10. Looks like those offers already went out...

Did they say that they were done or are you just guessing they are done? I had crossed them off my list weeks ago but then heard earlier this week that they are still in the review process. Does seem like later notice to hear anything at this point but who knows...

I received an email from the admissions coordinator requesting a missing form. I don't think any invites have been extended from the Clinical PhD program yet. However, in the coordinator's email signature, it states that the interviews will take place 2/10 and 2/12.

Okay, so I don't want to be one of those people. You know what I mean. Those people who post on the forum asking others to PM info about POI's, but this is going to be the ONE school that I make that exception for.

If you are the person from TGC who posted about University of Tennessee - Knoxville, would you please PM me your POI. I'm pretty sure that you will get major Karma points for it.

University of Iowa

Hey guys,
I actually got an interview invite from Case just this afternoon:

What?? That's crazy! Their deadline was January 15th... I guess many other programs are also giving very little notice. How was it detailed in her email signature?

Name
University admission coordinator
... by the way interview days are 2/10 and 2/12

?? lol!

I just assumed that they were done based on how early the interview dates are. Invites were extended last year on 12/17, and someone on tgc posted about an invite on 12/22. It is very good to hear that they are still reviewing. Did you hear that from someone on this forum?

Has anyone received sign of life or any info on the following schools?

- Auburn University
- Binghamton University - SUNY
- Marquette
- Ohio University (athens)
- Penn State
- University of Alabama - Tuscaloosa
- University of Alabama - Birmingham
- Hawaii - Manoa
- University of Southern Miss
- Maryland - College Park

I heard that Alabama (tuscaloosa) are supposed to send all their invites by today, Penn's interview date is very close and UConn is rumored to be done with invites.

I just found this network which is why I am joining this conversation late. Indiana University sent out a mass email 12/23 with invites for counseling psychology phd interviews. If that's the program you wanted then I'm sorry about that.🙁

Thank you, that's what I was assuming. Not my top choice, no worries. 🙂

Hi - I'm also waiting for Maryland - College Park Counseling.

The graduate coordinator from Hawaii - Manoa Clinical Program told me that the faculty will start contacting applicants in March and do phone interviews from there (they don't do in person interviews ). Unfortunately this means that we have to wait a bit longer :xf:(hopefully positive news).

Hi all, anyone know what the story is with Washington State (WSU) clinical? They popped up on Gradcafe but it didn't indicate if it was a mass or POI email, so I'm curious.

Hi All,

I called Drexel and was told that all invites had been extended but that there is a "small" chance of a second round of invites.

I am not planning on hearing from Hawaii until later, but it is good to hear they do phone interviews because that flight would be mighty expensive!

BTW I am applying to Maryland's Clinical program. Best of Luck!

I got an e-mail from her too and saw this signature. Maybe it's really supposed to mean March?! Jan 15 deadline!

Southern Miss (Counseling) sent out invites in December

I would suspect Tuscaloosa
The other day Alabama-Tuscaloosa sent out an email to clinical child & psych/law interviewees re: accommodations/transportation for the 2/3 interview. (I assume that means invites for those programs are done, but I don't know for sure.)

Thank you, that's what I was assuming. Not my top choice, no worries. 🙂

I was hoping this would copy the quote about there being a mass email too. Anyways, not my top choice either. I saw the grad cafe posts and at that point crossed them off. I actually heard straight from the dept that they are still reviewing but they have more programs than just counseling....

So how many people have received invites to George Mason University? Supposedly, they have already sent them all out but I thought I only saw one person on here who was invited. I know that their interviews are the first weekend in February so it seems they should have sent them all out by now, but I still feel like more people who have announced their invitations if they had invited everyone already. Guess that the others haven't seen this forum or TCG.
Any thoughts?

Does anyone know whether U. of Miami has sent out invites for the Adult track? I saw a bunch of posts about health and child, but am wondering whether adult track applicants have been notified as well.

Loyola University Chicago
Child Clinical PhD
1/20 via mass e-mail, more details to be sent by mail
Choice of Feb 3 or Feb 24

Eeeeeeeeee! 🙂

Feel free to send me PMs about my POI, etc.

I've re-read my invite e-mail and it is more of a personalized form letter than a mass e-mail. Does not mention my POI and just says clinical phd instead of child clinical. Don't know if this helps. I didn't post on tgc so at least one other person got the invite.

This is my second year applying...

So you can imagine how excited I am that I have my first interview request after two snubs of the season. St John's School Psych Psy.D.
The program coordinator left a me voicemail saying that the interview day was 3/2 and that I should call her back to set up an appt. (she wasn't there when I called back)
Here's the kicker... I am presenting at a Psych conference that day in the morning 9am.
The conference is in Pennsylvania. I really want to present (first author) and I REALLY don't want to lose the chance at the interview (duh).

If you have been in this situation or one similar in the past, will you please PM me or message me on this forum? I'd love to hear what you have done in the past in cases like this.

Thanks.

It is an absolute certainty that many applicants have never even come across this (or any other) forum during their application process, or that folks see the forum and never participate.

Can anybody else put up the poster for you?
You're not really supposed to do that but I've been to plenty conferences with no presenters nowhere near their posters. And I think in your case you have a legitimate excuse.
If that's not possible, I'd definetely go to the interview. The poster is what it is: a poster- and maybe a line on your CV. This interview may decide your future.

Grad student at UConn confirmed that invites have been sent out for Clinical

Hi, I'm sorry, which school is that? Is that St. John's University in Queens NY, or are you talking about another school? BTW, I would not risk an interview, but maybe if you talk to the person you can arrange something that fits your schedule. Good luck!

same here :-( hope this is not representative for the rest of the process. good luck to you

I would see if there's another day you can go in for an interview. If you are the first author in a poster and you aren't present for your own project, it doesn't look very professional. Granted, the interview may determine your career but so will your poster (to a degree) - you will be around faculty members, colleagues, and graduate students who may very well be a part of your future. You don't want to have a reputation as a flaky person, especially since the field is so small.

If you can't reschedule the interview, not attending the conference will certainly not look good; but, with an interview, there is always a chance you may not get in. I'm being realistic here. It's a tough call and it depends on what you want to gamble with. I think I would explain the situation to the admissions coordinator and see if there's anything you can do to make it another day or maybe have a phone interview.

My POI there called me last week to invite me, and she's in the adult track.

Anyone know whether all BU invites have been extended?? I saw one pop up on TGC and am very curious...
