lol... that's kinda messed up. I would totally get excited if I read that title. I think it's the exclamation point that's unnecessary.

 Seriously. They should stick with (no subject)!

I guess my rejection from Yale is on the way too! Are you two categorical or prelims btw?

I was applying for a cat spot. I thought I would be competitive for them, but IM has been getting more competitive.

yeah seriously...i have never felt more mediocre compared to all the superstars of SDN!

Categorical here too. I managed to get through all of September with no rejections then come October and bam! 2 rejections in one day.

I'm surprised they actually take the time to reject people. Wouldn't you just get the hint if an interview invite never comes?

Thats just cruel. I'm glad they took the time for a rejection.

All these WashU invites and yale rejection have me wondering about my chances.

Cleveland clinic in FL??? Really? I would have thought they would be drooling for any applicants.

I mean, not getting any first wave interview means nothing. You prob still have an excellent chance of going there. Right now, all the programs are essentially fishing for the same group of applicants, but they obviously can't all match there. Interview spots will start opening up soon.

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but it's a bit tacky to not at least wait to see the MSPE and ensure everyone has a complete application before you reject them. Hang in there.

Actually I think it's nice and respectful to the applicant. At a time when you are really trying to coordinate interviews and make all the puzzle pieces fit, it's nice not to be lead-on by a program. That way you can apply to more places, move around interviews etc.

What's the point in waiting for the MSPE if it isn't going to change anything? I'd personally rather not be lead on by a program when they know they aren't going to rank me.

Do you guys mind giving your step 1 score range....so that way we can see the cutoff score that the future applicants are going to be dealing with?

Totally irrelevant. You have no way of knowing if the Step 1 score, SubI/clerkship grade, LORs or first letter of the middle name were the reason for not getting an interview.

Good point. Can you guys post your step 1 score, sub-i/clerkship grades, LORs, and the first letter of your middle name? 😀

Wasn't trying to write a paper and submit it for publication based on responses... #**

its funny, I got IVs at places I thought I had no shot, and got rejects from places where I thought I'd I get in for sure.

Interviews - Seton Hall University, UMiami, Rochester General, Allegheny General, UPenn, Penn Hospital, UConn, Albany and Winthrop University.

Rejects - Cleveland Clinic of Florida (really?), UNew Mexico, UNevada, Hennepin County, Wright State University (visa issue), UWashington, Mercy-St. Johns, MCOG, UAlabama, MCOW and Lehigh Valley

my stats if you want to know:
Steps - 99/99/pass (all first attempt).
honored IM clerkship (honored every clerkship except high pass in surgery).
3 LORs (including one from an IM program director).
good CV and PS.

Well yes and no.

For 'Step 1' 99 ranged from 237+ (when I took it) which is way higher than the mean score
For 'Step 2' 99 ranged from 229+ (when I took it) which is US AMG mean score

In 2010 a 99 was a 229+ for Step 1.

GWU, USF, and Pennsylvania Hospital rejections

With all these rejections out, I am starting to get pretty nervous...At this point, I am starting to feel like if a place is planning to reject me anyways, I would prefer to be rejected upfront now instead of two months down the line...

It's better than the dead silence!

Man, are CCF Florida and GWU getting more competitive?? I thought these were rather attainable places for average applicant.

That's what I thought too. The Yale rejection I didn't take personally, but it sucks to be rejected by places at where you thought you were competitive. Oh well I guess the caliber of applicants is high this year.

so yesterday I got a rejection from Mercy Hospital in Missouri (total back up), but an interview at UPenn (a top choice) lol....

Damn, if you don't mind me asking when did you get WashU and UTSW?

Dude, I bet you $20 that you will not receive a rejection from either of those places before the MSPE if at all. You are an extremely competitive candidate. Like I said earlier, take a chill pill. I'd be surprised if you didn't get into the top 15 program of your choice (west coast caveat).

And based on the fact that you live on these boards, why the hell would you want an interview at UTSW?

UTSW-Austin, Medical College of Georgia

More rejections than invites at this point.

Rejection from Cambridge health alliance in Massachusetts.

wash u rejection today! ugggggh me and STL are not meant to be. i will just take my "midwest swing" elsewhere

Yeah, I hit a WashU rejection REALLY early in the cycle, before anybody else posting here... and I've continued to get AWESOME interview invites since.

WashU must reject a LOT, early, otherwise they saw something they REALLY didn't like with me.

Sorry man. I felt your pain when I got my Yale rejection. Hopefully something better comes in the next few days.

I'm not getting love from Wash U either, and that's being a multi-published MD/PhD from a top 10 med school with Honors in all my clerkships. Our PD keeps reminding us that the process does have randomness and that a reader who had a ****ty day may be all that it takes to keep someone from getting an invite. I'm trying to be Zen about the whole thing, but not always succeeding. In the big picture, we'll all end up somewhere (and on a long enough timeline we're all dead, but whatever)

if you haven't been rejected though, i'm sure that you are very much still in the running....seems like you are an incredibly qualified applicant.

I, on the other hand, am a mediocre/below avg applicant so the rejection was not that surprising, so it's all good. I'm trying to console myself through this process remembering that i did get love from wash u for undergrad and medschool and turned them down...still burns though!

also i am not much of an stl fan though, def prefer chitown if we are talking midwest!
