just wondering if anyone else felt like they were in a completely different category four years ago...

the medschool process was VERY good to me and the residency interview process has been kicking my a** hardcore. this blows. i interviewed at hms four years ago, and i didnt even bother applying to either of the harvards this year b/c i knew i would get rejected.
 
I've actually had similar thoughts, although for me, its the opposite story...I was really not the strongest medical school applicant, and was pretty lucky to even get a few interviews/have a school take me in...now I'm gotten some interviews at places I wouldn't have dreamed I'd ever have the chance to even walk in their doors...and you can see from my invite list, we aren't even talking the havards or hopkins or anything here!!

Hopkins. It's time for me to figure out which programs I actually want to visit and start making travel arrangements.
 
Anyone heard anything from programs in MA like Lahey, Mt.Auburn, St.Elizabeths ?
Got an MGH rejection but nothing from BWH. Since a few folks on here did get invites from BWH, I wonder why they haven't sent a rejection as yet!

I didn't apply to Mt. Auburn, but I think they sent out invites? I think BWH holds on a bit longer since they hand out fewer interviews. With my invite/rejection list, I can count it as a rejection. Still waiting on 13 programs!

I'm not bitter. In fact, I am determined to go there for fellowship eventually.

I think the reason behind my rejection there was my unknown medical school (I am an IMG)

Other than that, I think I met their standards, and the rejection email was very courteous. They have lots of good people at Dartmouth.

My Number one so far is: U of Minnesota

My other important interviews are: Cleveland Clinic, Loyola U, George Washington U, Arizona U (Tucson), Kansas U, New Mexico U

I think that I will end up in Minnesota.

I am an IMG, and 99.999 percent I will get a rejection from BWH, but havent got it yet. So I agree with you in that their silence should be counted as a rejection.

Not that I did not expect U Penn rejection. It would be pompous to say otherwise!!!!!! but UAB, I thought I might have a shot there!!
 
I gotta say - I applied at UAB, Penn, UVA. I haven't heard anything yet, and I doubt that it's because they're holding on to my application "just in case." Send the rejections, put me out of my misery, and let me schedule flights to places that do want to interview me!

But hey, I am glad with what I have so far, and thankful for it

Its never over!!! you could go there for fellowship. Just remember that the only PhD president that the US had was woodrow wilson, so super duper academic reputation is not a sine qua non for success 😀D
 
Knew that one was coming eventually...still waiting for 4 programs to get around to rejecting me: Duke, MSSM, NYU, and UChicago...

Hopkins, Brigham's, and Mass Gen all in one weekend.

Applied to 16:
Rejections received: 6
Rescinded rejections:2
Real rejections: 4 (Stanford, JHH, BWH, MGH)
Interviews: 10
Yet to hear from: 2 (UWash and Duke).

Should I hold my breath for the other two?

You might just be surprised about Duke. They recruit heavily form the South first, but after their troubles a few years ago pad on a few more.
 
Really surprised by this one. My understanding was that it was not a competitive program and I have a few better invites but oh well.
Also part of the JHH and BW bolus.
No columbia yet but that is probably around the corner

Have heard from the PD at my school and through friends at other places that there are unusually higher number of apps this year. ??? Places that otherwise wouldn't be as competitive suddenly feel overwhelmed. Anybody else hear this?

The entire city of Boston has been giving me the cold shoulder. I also expected invites from Tufts and BU...so far silent treatment.
