First week of December
I've been checking my email obsessively to see if they responded

it's been a really long time which is a surprise because it seems that a few people from december 8th were accepted less than a week later.

I just interviewed there last Friday and the woman from admission talked to us about how this is the busiest time for them of the admission season. Just because you weren't accepted in 6 days like some doesn't mean it's not coming. Try to be patient and do other things away from your email.

Man, the number of times I checked Page 6 of this thread this past month...sheesh. All we can do is wait at this point.

Received Complete e-mail Nov. 23. Have not heard back since. Is there still a chance I'll be receiving an II? Is anyone else out there waiting on a response from Stony Brook?

I was marked complete on 11/8 and got an II about 2 1/2 weeks ago.
Don't give up hope just yet!

I have been complete since the end of July and still have not heard back. I think chances are slim

Gosh. I've finally been waitlisted. They said 6-8 weeks for a decision..... its been over 14 weeks. Haha. Interviewed 10/4 IS

To penguins15 and Asics, did you get any mention about a high priority wait list at all? Curious to know if SBU is starting to add (or has been adding) people to that list.

Well, based on past years' threads, it seems like the WL generally experiences movement starting in May, so can't lose hope. Mind sharing stats?

No mention of a high priority list. My stats are 3.4c/3.9s, 39, in state. Stats don't matter though, at least not once you've gotten to the interview phase. SB even came out and said that during my visit.

waitlisted 🙁 Anyone know how much the waitlist moves? and whether or not there is a high priority waitlist?

Looked like there was one last year, and that it was moving in May and June.

of course they say that! but yeah, if it makes you guys feel better... Ill most likely be withdrawing my acceptance soon.

Sorry to hear about the waitlists. How did they let you guys know?

Does anyone know if they are still giving out interviews? I've pretty much abandoned hope here because I submitted really late but you never know!

Also, do they accept updates?

They definitely accept updates...I have no clue about the interviews.

I remember at my interview that they said roughly 20% of the wait list gets in. Good luck to everyone 🙂

I didn't receive waitlist email.....and it has been almost two months since my interview...I guess I will be getting rejection mail soon...good luck to those of you on the waitlist!

I dont recall ever reading a post interview rejection until quite a bit later in the spring. I'm not certain of course.

I agree. But i know several people who were rejected around this time post interview

Why are you ruling out an acceptance? Perhaps they're still evaluating your application?

SBU assigned this girl that I know to an interview on a specific date early this upcoming week. Seems like the days of picking your own interview dates are over for this season...

Accepted a few hours ago! Very excited and I am 99% sure I will be going here. I'm in-state, interviewed 11/22 after being complete in mid-August.

Also, I was nominated for the Turner Fellowship! I don't think I could be happier right now. Could any current students give me more information about this scholarship? i.e. How many people are nominated?

Edit: Accepted by e-mail, in case anyone was wondering.

Does Stony Brook send any updates/decision before interview through mails? I called the office and they told me that a letter was sent regarding my application. Wondering if it's bad news.. 🙁

Ahh, I've heard rejections are usually sent via mail...but hoping for the best for you man.

Congrats dude!

Any idea of preferred way to send update letters?

I think this question was asked before but not answered~

I'm a current student at Stony Brook and when I applied, I was accepted over two months after I interviewed. Don't give up hope just yet.

Anyone know what the out-of-state acceptance rate is like here? Left me MSAR at home. Could a current student comment on the ease of getting in-state status after your first year for out-of-staters also?

if you find out the requirements in a timely fashion and do a few simple things there is no reason you shouldn't be paying in-state tuition for 3 out of 4 years. one thing you might want to look into early is whether you must live off campus ...though i suggest you live off campus either way

Interviewed today. Nice facilities.
Very pleasant low stress.
Really looking forward to an acceptance!

Good to hear! Any mention of how much longer they'll be doing interviews?

No official date but, they did say they were likely going to go longer this year than previous years due to the increased number of applications (they got over 4900 this year up from about 4600 last year). End of March is what we were told.

Holy Crap. Accepted today. Interviewed on 1/13/2012. At most was hoping for a waitlist at this point in the admission cycle.

Rejected via USPS. Ironically, the letter is sent to my address, but is addressed to Mr. Kosser. My last name does not read or look close to Kosser. What a joke.

That's really strange...maybe they mixed things up and you weren't meant to be rejected. Have you called them yet?

congrats! let me know if you need any help with anything going forward.

at this point in the app cycle it's way more likely that they just made a mistake with the name and meant to reject you either way. feel free to call in but don't get your hopes up... my guess is you'll simply get an apology for the name mix-up.
