I just got my acceptance email yesterday!! :soexcited:

I interviewed Dec. 14th (they got back to me REALLY fast, the only other school that was faster was the 6 days it took Cooper to reject me, lol).

Aside from the tuition deposit, is there anything else we need to submit to reserve our spot? I tried to find more info on the portal, but nothing really specific and I emailed the admissions and they just said that everything I need to know is on the site (there isn't much...)

Nope, just send them $100. Congrats!!

Congrats on the acceptance! I also interviewed on Dec 14th but I guess my interviewers didn't turn in their evaluations as fast as yours. 🙁

Just interviewed here earlier this week. Block system + clinical experience = <3. Students really love it here. I forgot to ask at interview day, but does anyone know how big the class is? 200+? Thanks.

Hi guys,
I have my interview coming up on the 10th of January and I was wondering what kinds of things were discussed in previous interviews for this application cycle. What was emphasized by the interviewers? Thanks and enjoy the holidays!

Our class is 211, with about 30 people going to St. Luke's next year. I dunno how many are going to Danville or Pittsburgh for 3rd and 4th year, though.

Congratulations to all the new acceptances! What a great present you got! 😀

Opinions on the healthcare system. This was actually the bulk of my interview, so definitely know your thoughts on this issue.

If you haven't already, check out http://studentdoctor.net/schools/?view=allopathic it's a wonderful resource that has just about every common interview question / topic that'll come up for each school.

Also here's a link to my post earlier in this thread about my interview http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showpost.php?p=11862102&postcount=575

To current students, does Temple help out with stethoscopes (discounted prices or anything?) or did you guys buy one on your own? And do they (or you!) specifically recommend any in particular?

A school org. offers a slight discount (I forget how much exactly) but you can find outside websites that offer something similar or free shipping. Littman cardio III is recommended bit probably not totally necessary. I got that one and I think for the most part most people did. Don't worry about getting one before school starts. We didn't use ours for the first time until the week before Christmas break.

Received the waitlist letter 🙁
My status online still says "interview complete" though

Sorry to hear that. Did you interview at main campus or St. Luke's? I interviewed 11/1 at St. Luke's and mine is still "interview complete" also, and I'm in Vietnam until 1/11. No one can check my apartment mailbox but me...

I interviewed at the main campus a week after you. I had to call last week and ask about the status of my app

Ditto all of this. And I actually think I got a better deal from Medisave (IIRC, they were having a sale), than the deal through school.

Interview Invite today 1/3, under review since like august. Rolling admissions means earliest possible date is the way to go with temple?

You mean to schedule an interview? Yes, first possible date is always best, although the turnaround time depends on your interviewer and how quickly they evaluate you. Mine was done in under 3 weeks, some people wait well over a month.

yea, i'm a few days away from the 2 month mark 🙁

So if I've been complete since Sept., it's pretty much a rejection, right?

Got the II email just now!!! Thank you Temple!!

@Gambler: I don't remember if there was a status before "under review" so I'm not sure, but I submitted my app about 2.5 months ago.

I've heard that for your 3rd/4th year rotations you could be assigned to a hospital relatively far away (Such as in Pitt)... I was curious if any current students could comment on how this whole "assignment" process works and if there are any ways to avoid leaving Philly. Thanks!!

Does anybody know when the first available Interview date is currently? I didn't get home til 4:30 and wasn't able to schedule today. Thanks!

As of yesterday the earliest date available was Jan 19th

When you filled out the secondary, didn't they have you rank the clinical sites? Philly/main campus, West Penn in Pittsburgh, St. Luke's in Bethlehem, and Geisinger in Danville. If you're accepted you'll probably be placed in your top choice. I'm pretty sure, if you're assigned to, say, Danville, you won't be randomly sent to Pittsburgh. With main campus, you could be sent to the burbs (like Crozer in Chester county or Abington in Montgomery county), but those places aren't ridiculously far.

Just an add-on.. at the Philly campus, you can be sent far away (like Erie) but it doesn't happen too often and I think it's only for family medicine if anything. They do pay for housing and what not, but unfortunately you probably can't get out of it. I'm pretty sure that you can only get out of it if you have kids.

Right! I didn't realize they might send people that far away for FM. I'm pretty sure they are very accommodating to students with kids for clerkship site assignments, at least that's what I was told at Second Look, so I'd get out of it.

Interview invite!
Was complete way back in early september.

Haha apparently they sent the e-mail out after their office had closed so I'll probably call tomorrow and schedule 🙂

2 months since my interview. no status change. why does temple tease me like this??? 🙁

Sorry about this-- quick question: I just realized that the interview invite was for St. Luke's and I listed that as my second campus choice after the main one.

I'm still delighted about the interview offer but I was just wondering what this means.

This is a late follow-up to your post (2 weeks), but I finally got back from Vietnam a few days ago and I found a waitlist letter also, with the same "interview complete" online status. -_-

...but I wasn't fazed because I opened the other letter in my mailbox first, which was an acceptance from SUNY Downstate, my first one ever. So that was pretty exciting. Still, I was disappointed with Temple's result, considering it was the second time they interviewed me and I thought it was a sure thing.

I can't seem to remember from my interview day - what is the grading system at Temple? For both pre-clinical and clinical years. I believe H/P/F but I'm not sure. Thanks!

So... has anyone gotten accepted after waiting more than 2 months post-interview? Or should I pretty much prepare myself to find a waitlist or rejection letter once I get back to my preferred address?

Pre-clinical is H/P/F based on class performance, not a curve. Honors is 92+, but apparently it can shift downward (but never up). Clinical years are H/HP/P/F, according to the handbook online.

Note: Some of the online things like some course descriptions are outdated and still have the old curved grading system listed, but that's not how Temple rolls anymore.

For those of you planning on going here, has anyone started a facebook group yet?

It's been very quiet WRT admission decisions... anyone who interviewed in Dec. hear anything yet?

Got my decision today.

"We are pleased to inform you that the Admissions Committee has completed an initial review of your application. The Committee found your application to be impressive and we have placed you on the continuing candidates list."

OK, Temple, a WL letter should not be identical to an acceptance letter until you've read three full lines into it.

Also, letter postmarked 12/21/11. I live overseas, but it took a month to get here and no online update.

Temple, you have fallen down a notch in my heart today...

edit: interviewed 11/8.

I called to ask about the status of my application today. I was told that correspondence was sent to me on 12/21... I DON'T live overseas and I STILL haven't gotten the letter.

it's absurd to send only snail mail in 2012. and the letter wasn't just dated 12/21, it was postmarked as far as i can tell! so i dont understand why the postal service is taking so long.
