Btw this is really cool. I bet at least by August the interview invites will start pouring in for you. Out of curiosity why aren't you pursuing a career in music?

I can't go into great detail to answer this because I know I'm already not anonymous if an adcom reads this. I would be repeating things said in my PS

But let's just say I've always enjoyed music for the sake of music. I feel the business side of music inhibits a lot of things.

I like your philosophy bud 👍

I was that way when it came to choosing colleges. Originally I was going to go up to the Northeast for college to do music. However, the business side of music and my reluctance to be on a super strict practice schedule pushed me aside

Gotcha. Anyways that's still super cool!

The "under review" message on BAMF makes it sound like we will either get an interview invite between now and December, or in December all of us without interviews will be rejected. I could have read it wrong though

Probably the latter.

Probably the latter.
THis is the case. Schools stop picking people to interview dec 31 i think. So either you pre matched or you didnt so you may or may not be on a waitlist to be accepted later

TMDSAS transmitted my application on 5/23 and I had my secondary done on 5/18.

This is what I was confused about about TMDSAS. We are allowed to send in secondaries even if the primary is not verified/sent to schools, right? We just have to have submitted the primary?

well to submit some secondaries you need your tmdsas pin so as long as you have one, which they give you when you sign up you can.

Hey guys, I'm trying to finish up this secondary right now and I'm a bit confused on the formatting for essay #2 asking about what things have given the characteristics of the A&M honor code.

Should it be formatted with bullets of each activity and what it has given us?
Should it be formatted with paragraphs for each characteristics and then what has given us those said characteristics?
Or should it just be a regular 'ol essay?

Hey Tx, I just wrote a regular essay. So that's my vote. I honestly didn't think about writing it any other way

Thanks @mjjdm1985 and MilkIsGood.

Been wondering about this essay for a while since I was not really sure if it was going to be like UTSW/TT portion where I'm listing experiences and briefly explaining.

Thanks.

At A&M's interview workshop (go here for undergrad). It's a waste of time, I've read all of this ok SDN haha. Shouldn't have skipped work for this.

Yea i already got the handouts from Karen since im away lolz. Im just making an appointment with her before my interview next tuesday.

Honestly, she's probably not going to tell you anything that you don't already know. You might want to save the gas money haha.

CS is on the way to FW. So im spending the night at my apartment  No sense to drive 5 hours one day when i can spend a day in CS getting some Freebirds:laugh: and then drive 3 hours

I'm working on getting this secondary finished up, but am lost on Question #1. Did you all do bullets for each activity and then describe or write a normal essay?

Thanks!

Is that the diversity one? I wrote an essay. 3500 characters screams a one page essay

Wow maybe I'm totally stupid then. I didn't even do close to 3500 chars. Hopefully this doesn't eventually doom me lol...

I had a lot to write. about 3400 characters. Living abroad and being an immigrant gave me a lot to write about.

And I just came back from the interview workshop too. While I know that everything she said has been already HEAVILY talked about on SDN, I still think the workshop was helpful and made me understand more about the interview process. I think Karen does a good job as a premed advisor.

got an interview. i filled the interview form thing too fast and i think i might have missed the last box. does anyone know what it was. it was the one after the yes, no, later option. something about prefer

If you picked later, it had a drop box for the other dates.

Me too 🙂 Were you assigned to Temple or CS?

Describe briefly any experiences and/or skills that have made you more sensitive or appreciative of other cultures or the human condition. (3500 character maximum).

briefly + 3500 character limit

this is worse than figuring out if a girl likes you or not. too many mixed signals. i feel like this would be fine without even an intro and conclusion who knows

does anyone else have that rejection letter people were talking about on bamf after getting an interview invite?

Haha true that. I'm going on Thursday.

temple! you?

Yup, I'm interviewing at Temple too. I just need another day or two to figure out which date I should pick for the interview.

Oh, and I have that rejection letter on BAMF that you and BMEN were talking about.

That's convenient; you can interview on the same campus where your undergrad is just days before school starts.

Haha I thought so too. I say its a good way to end summer

Congrats to everyone that has gotten an interview! It looks like the rejection status is correlated to those who have gotten interviews. Still hoping to get some love from my alma mater!

I submitted my TMDSAS in May. My secondary on June 2. For some reason it went to last years rejection for a few days. I'm still PENDING six weeks after submitting my secondary. Everything says TRUE so I guess I need to be patient. I called last week and left a message, and I left an email. Haven't heard from anyone yet, but I know they're super busy. Just a bit worried because it approaching seven weeks and still PENDING???😕

Just wait. People here had pending for a while until it went to under review

Haha. I don't think you understand what a gunner is.

A gunner is someone that screws someone over in order to benefit from it. BMEN is nowhere close to being a gunner.

ok thanks. I meant super involved and informed. Didn't mean for it to be an insult. I knew a gunner could be what you said, but I didn't know that's what they were period.

I wish I was a gunner. Then I could be a successful friendless a-hole  If i had been more gunnerish no one would be left standing

No offense taken man.

Thats really weird, because I got my secondary in on 6/29, which is a lot later than your 6/2, and it is already "under review".

Maybe you submitted your primary TMDSAS a bit later than other people? (for reference, i got mine in 6/11 transmitted 6/22)

Hey for those of yall that already got interviewed? you mind posting when you submitted your secondaries and TMDAS applications?

also, just wondering, since they over accepted by 70 people last year and had to do mandatory deferrals, are they interviewed for basically a 100 person class this year (170 total class size-70 from last year)

thanks!

I submitted my TMDSAS around the 23rd. Transmitted to schools the 27th. Went under review before fourth of july i think

If you look back at the beginning of the thread we discussed this. I think the answer from current med students and people who talked to admissions staff was that this year there would be 170-200 seats(still the normal). Just the following year they would cut it back to the original class size they want of ~150

They over accepted by 80 students for an original class size of 170 (which was increased from 150 the previous year). Then about 18-20 voluntarily deferred and the class size was approved for an increase to 200 to accomodate the extra students. In addition, many withdrew after being accepted to other schools. So in reality, only 18-20 people from last year will carry over to y'alls class of 200. I don't think the class size will be reduced bc I remember them saying that they were going to increase the class to 200 this year anyway, it was just done a year earlier.
