Yes, I'll be interviewing next Friday, Sep 9th. Where are you driving from? I'm going from Dallas, and even though it's a 6 hour drive, my hatred for driving makes it seem a whole lot longer :/ (I've driven to Lubbock before) 🙄
Are there any other people driving from Houston/Dallas?? We could carpool perhaps?
I have made arrangements to stay with a friend who's attending medical school there currently, and I am planning on getting there on Thursday afternoon and leaving on Saturday morning. But if I can carpool with someone, I can leave on Friday night and do my half a share of driving both ways, and we can split gas money. 😉

Has anyone stayed with a med student the night before their interview? I am thinking about doing it, but I would like to find out some more information. Thanks!

I did. It was great, I mean the student had a nice house and I had my own room and bed and everything. This of course depends on the student, but I think their minimum standard is a couch. I followed my host to the med school and everything, since they all have class around the time the interview day starts.
The power went out that night, but nothing anyone could have done about that.

I think you will enjoy it- I am an MS3 and hosted students my first 2 years. I just had them sleep on my couch since I was in an apartment. I always tried to make time to grab dinner the night before the interview and take them to the coffee social and then usually let them have the TV/living room while I studied in my room

Thank you for the information. I already signed up for it. I am really pumped up for this interview. Unfortunately, my class schedule and flight times will probably make me miss the coffee social. I have heard great things from a lot of people. I can't wait to visit!

I'm flying from San Antonio to Lubbock on 13th and I signed up for the student housing. Wonder if I should rent a car or take a cab to school and places.

the student will be happy to give you a ride- they plan on it and the airport is not that far away.
FYI for any military affiliates with: I paid about half that much for 2 days via USAA.
They also waived the "under 25" insurance premium.
Has anyone here booked at the Overton hotel? I want to know what their TTU interview discounted rate is, but I'd feel awkward calling if it turns out to be too pricey...
Hey guys, my TMDSAS was transmitted in early August, but whenever I click on the "applicant status review" page on Texas Tech's application website, there's a message that says something like "No application status found". It's been a month and a half and I'm getting worried. Did this happen to anyone else?
I booked there. It's 109.00 at the discounted rate, and everyone was really nice on the phone, so don't worry about it!
I think that happened to everyone else.
I interviewed here a few weeks ago and I actually noticed that my status has changed now (finally). Instead of having the No status message, it says Your current status is: Invited for Interviews
Then below that it lists the MCAT as an admissions requirement

for those who have already interviewed or are interviewing tomorrow, what is the best way to get from the overton to the medical school. Do you have to take a cab? If so, does anyone remember roughly how much it costs? And I'm assuming/hoping that Texas Tech offers a shuttle from the interview day to the airport but i could be wrong!

There is a shuttle to take you to the airport after the interview. Someone should make an announcement and ask how many people need the ride. Just make sure you speak up. Good Luck tomorrow!
Do you know what time the shuttle will leave the campus? I'm trying to decide whether I can make it to the 5:35pm flight or if I should book the 7:00pm flight instead. Also, does Texas Tech allow interviewees to bring their carry-on with them and place them somewhere on interview day? I know it sounds silly but I don't know what I will do with my stuff seeing as I plan to fly to Lubbock and won't have a car, so I would love to catch the shuttle to the airport with my luggage with me.

there isnt a set time. the shuttle is driven by a med student, so it leaves when everyones ready. you can bring your luggage with you. i forgot when the interview day ends, but it takes 15 mins to get to the airport and the security line is like 5 min max.
I was on the same flight (5:35 PM) out of Lubbock. We made it in plenty of time, even extra time to change out of our suits in the airport bathroom and have lunch/dinner at the little food court.
They'll take you to the airport a little earlier than the other interviewees so you'll miss part of the med student panel at the end, but you'll be fine. (Actually, the interviewees that stayed for the whole thing ended up getting to the airport about 15 minutes before our plane left, but I would still take the earlier shuttle just to be safe) And the admissions office will take care of all of your luggage too... just leave it with them at the beginning of the day at the morning breakfast thing and they'll have it curbside outside waiting for you when you get in the van to go to the airport

In state, GPA in the low 3's...(and not med school low. actually low. <3.4), 37 MCAT, TMDSAS transmitted 8/18, but finished the Tech secondary 9/29 I think. So yeah, definitely shocked to hear back that quickly, and also kind of scared that November 11th was the first available date!
