anybody at NOLA now? in for an interview and exploring the area (SS 7/15, AMCAS complete 10/4)
hi,
Last week, I received an interview invite from Tulane saying "they will send me an invitation to interview once an interview date has been scheduled." I still haven't heard back from them about the exact date. Do you think I should call them?
Thanks for the advice. I'm really excited about this school and NOLA!

I wouldn't. I called and received that same update over the phone, and they didn't send me the final email until almost three weeks later. Then again, I doubt it would hurt to call....
Email announcing an interview invite: Dec 6th
Email telling me when the interview was: Dec 12th
They only gave me one day, January 9th, to interview. I had to reschedule it to a different day. If anybody wants to reschedule to Jan 9th, now is your chance to call Susana and grab it.
Good luck everybody!

Is anyone else applying for MD/MPH? I'm having a hard time picking a department.. good thing we can switch later!
I think I am going to apply as well, but I haven't filled it out yet. I can't decide which department either.

Lights out for me, received notice just a few moments ago. Good luck to everyone else!
Sorry 🙁 Pre or post interview?
Pre-interview. I was kind of expecting it, there are thousands of well-qualified applicants with better stats than me. Plus, I am OOS.

Anyone who was marked complete on November 1st hear anything back yet? Nothing on my end...

I was complete October 24th, no word yet here either.
At the moment, my guess would be that no news is good news. I only say this because I received a complete email Nov. 16th, and was just removed from further consideration today.

I ended up going with Global Community Health & Behavioral Sciences.
Got an email saying I would get an interview Dec. 6th but haven't gotten another since. Anyone else in the same boat?
Are you sure your interview wasn't on December 6th..?

I received the same email and just received my official invitation/date today. I think they are slowly sending out interviews to all of the people who received that email, but they only let you know 4 weeks in advance of your date.

I hope no news is good news. 🙂 I was complete on October 20. I'm going to call them soon to see if i can get an update or send them an update on what ive been doing this fall.
Hey guys, I have a couple of questions...
(1) After receiving my acceptance letter, I emailed my intent to accept the invitation last Wednesday. I haven't received any sort of confirmation yet...is this normal?
(2) Also, do any of you know specifics about housing? I'd like to live with/near other medical students... where do the majority of students live? It was mentioned briefly during my tour but I don't remember specifics.
Thank you!

So for those of you who are already accepted (or still hoping to go to Tulane), I'm in the process of deciding between Tulane and a couple of public schools. I LOVED Tulane, but my biggest concern there is the insane cost of tuition! 😱
Is anyone else planning on taking out loans to cover the entire cost? (i.e. I don't have enough savings to cover that and my parents aren't helping me out). Do you think that will be too difficult to pay back after graduation? I'm not especially interested in joining the army/navy/etc to help cover costs....

withdrawing my acceptance...hopefully my spot goes to one of you! Good luck everyone!

I'm in the same situation. National Health Service Corps seems like a good option, although I haven't talked to anyone in the program yet.
Hey does anybody know if Tulane has a second look?
they don't.

Are you interested in primary care?
Are you interested in primary care?
I am, not 100% sure though.
yeah, me either. To me, it looks like even if you decide not to do primary care, specialists make more money anyway, so you'd have an easier time of paying back the loans. And if you do choose primary care, you can to NHSC to help pay them back.I am, not 100% sure though.
Has anyone stayed at Maison Dupuy? For those familar, is it walkable from the hotel to the admissions office? Also, what about transportation to/from the airport?

The E2 bus take 45 minutes, but it's $2 each way from the airport to downtown http://www.jeffersontransit.org/schedules/E2Airport-Map.htm
It's definitely walkable. I'd take Burgundy down to Canal and Canal over to S. Robertson. I probably wouldn't walk around that area after dark though; it can get a bit sketchy.

Ah rejection pre-interview today, good luck everyone!

When were you complete?
Best wishes, however!
Is there anyone that interviewed in mid-late November that is still waiting for a response? I interviewed the Monday before Thanksgiving and have yet to receive any news.😕.. I'm hoping that no news is good news and they're just backed up because of the holidays...
Thoughts?

I am in the same boat! I called and they were super apologetic and said there is a group from mid November that won't be reviewed till the Jan 10 adcom meeting. She literally said "I am really sorry, I have no explanation for this". She said we should hear on Jan 11. So.... you're not alone!
you're better off staying at the holiday inn superdome, the maison dupuy was small and cold and not too close from bourbon street to walk to (it was quite scary at night). holiday inn will give you a good discount for goin to the tulane interview. that room was huge, legit, great tv and contemporary

Agreed - the Holiday Inn was great and it was convenient to use the airport shuttle both ways and to walk to the interview. Only downside was my overpriced room service dinner because I was too nervous to wander around for food by myself after dark. 😳
Thanks so much for the info! I was really starting to worry... I'll hope for the best for both of us!! 🙂I am in the same boat! Rejected pre-interview. Complete 12/1.
Is Tulane still handing out interviews or are they basically done?
Wondering the same thing. Has anyone received an II recently? Complete in early Nov; no news.
