Also, if we interview mid sept, we should hear back by 16th and if not, we are probably waitlisted??

I wouldn't necessarily say that this is true (don't take this as gospel, just my own conjecture). I imagine there are a wide variety of factors that go into the timing of admissions decisions. My best advice is to just be patient! (I know it's hard 🙂)

Definitely not true. After the interview, always think that no news is good news, because rejections and wait lists will be sent out more readily than if they're still contemplating about u if ur borderline. If you don't hear back a week or two after the date that they said you should hear back, then I would call the admissions office and ask about the status of your app. GL and I hope you do hear something mid-October!

Do you recommend that we send an update letter to the school if anything has changed since our interview?

So the MSAR says they start tomorrow.... grr. Should we trust it? And I really hope that a September 19th interview isn't too late for this first round...

I didn't realize they call, but if I remember correctly they said on my interview day that they probably wouldn't notify us until the 17th.

2) the dean loves calling people because he loves their reactions.

Now tell me how common sense says they won't call tomorrow...

Actually, from my deciphering of the Vanderbilt website, it says "notice of acceptance will be sent on a rolling basis from Oct 15th-March 31st." (AKA today, Saturday). Did anyone hear today? No. Its a weekend, admissions people and the dean probably enjoy being off on the weekends. So using my common sense, I can tell you that you won't be called tomorrow either.

And "hoping for the best"? Waiting one extra day is definitely the worst thing that could happen

Two years ago, on my cycle, people got accepted on Sundays. Just sayin'. Med school admissions rarely conforms to common sense.

Someone wouldve heard yesterday if they were doing weekend acceptances. If you need further things to freak out about, check out the pre-allo forum and decipher that no one has received acceptances on yesterday or today.

My point was that Vanderbilt has accepted people in the past on Sundays before. It's a fact. Sure, it doesn't look like they did it today, but they may do it in the future. It's hard to predict. You don't know any better than any of the other people in this thread, so your opinion hardly supersedes anyone else's.

Except my opinion was right. I merely told neurotic pre-meds to chill out and expect the first acceptances to go out on Monday the 17th, rather than Saturday the 15th. I never said that Vanderbilt "never" accepts anyone on a Sunday. I said use common sense and don't expect a call on a weekend.
