I'm in Vandy limbo too.

Nadaba
You have too many acceptance to worry about Vandy.🙂

On a less lame note, can any current med students at Vanderbilt find out whether the next adcom meeting is next week or a fortnight from now (or god forbid longer) on our tormented behalf? Please and thanks. 🙂

Just interviewed today. Now we wait 6-8 weeks, but probably longer bc of holidays. I
Thinking mid January we get a yay or nay?

Just heard that scholarship decisions are sent from Mid-Dec to Mid-June.

For me it's been 11 weeks or so, and I haven't received any information, including the active review email. There's probably people who have been waiting even longer too.

Hi all,

So have they actually sent out rejections before secondaries? Or do they just do a silent rejection? I heard they did, but I don't really know anyone who applied.

My application has been complete for a long time and I've heard nothing. 🙁

Should I give up hope now?

Thanks

Does anyone know how agressive the rolling admissions at Vanderbilt is? I originally had an interview at the end of november but I have to postpone it until January now. How much of a disadvantage is that going to be for me in terms of the admission process? Thanks.

I was told that they sent out admissions decisions 10 times between october and march. If you interviewed in mid november, the earliest you can get accepted is mid jan, so if you interview in jan, the earliest you can get admited is march probably. That just means there are fewer chances of getting admitted if you interview late.

this is in my analysis, I'm not speaking with absolute authority here.

Just got the phonecall from the dean! This is the first acceptance for me after a string of waitlists so I've got to say it feels amazing, was actually shaking during the call! What a great feeling, I'm really honored and vandys such a great school

I interviewed on 10/25th btw.

Congrats! Vandy's awesome! I wish they'd let me know something. It's been almost 9 weeks for me (I know it's been even longer for some of you).

Congrats! I hope I hear good news from Vandy. I'm right at that 6 week mark...Good luck to everyone who is still waiting. :luck:

Congrats! I interviewed right before you. So do they accept the superstar applicants early or something?

i don't think i'm a superstar. But i think they are looking for diversity in your background.

For sure, it's just that they said to expect something in 6-8 weeks and it looks like some are getting acceptances in less than 4.

Phone call today as well....so excited! I kind of can't believe that the dean would use his Sunday afternoon/evenings to make calls.

Vanderbilt is so awesome.

Congrats 😎. I think it's too late now to expect a call, so it seems another Sunday has come and gone...See you guys on the next episode of "Sunday Evening Drama"...will we get the call? will another day pass without event? Find out next post-adcom meeting Sunday...Until then, goodbye and happy waiting..

I also thought I would mention that I interviewed 10/11. I was also somewhat at the time unnerved that my "long" interview was only like 35 minutes. I've purposefully given up on trying to grade my interviews after the fact to predict acceptance outcomes.

a real lol, thank you sir.

For those of you who got acceptance call, did you also get an e-mail from the school?

nope, no email of any sort

though if youre talking about the active review email, it had only been 4ish weeks since my interview so perhaps thats why I hadnt goten it yet.

You guys, I forgot to take my phone out of my pants when I did laundry last weekend, and it's broken from the water damage. This may sound too extreme, but do you know if not picking up the phone call from Vanderbilt would by any chance revoke the acceptance decision?

I am going to go with the extreme part...

Did they accept you?

On a different note... did anyone that has been waiting longer than the 6-8 weeks call the office yet? What did you ask? What did they say?

I hate limbo!

I'm still too scared to call them.

Me too. I interviewed first week of September...which felt like a decade ago 😛 I'd love to send them an update letter, it seems like they'd be pretty receptive to that, but I'd have nothing to say except that I've been going to interviews and trying not to fail school/life because of it. Sigh.

I already sent them an update letter/letter of interest last month, so I don't think there's much left that I can do. They told me they'd add it to my file.

Ah I see. Well, I'm rooting for you! Here's to the both of us getting a certain phone call on a certain day of the week in the near future! :xf:

I want in on your finger-crossing-phone-call-anticipating team! 😳:xf::luck::xf::luck::xf::luck::xf:😎

also sent an update letter/letter of interest, interviewed around the same time as you, and also have heard nothing but the active review email. gah!

Same. both fingers crossed :xf::luck::xf:

let me in vandy!

I grew two additional arms and hands just so I could cross more fingers (see previous post) hoping that you'd accept me for who I am Vandy! WHY DONT YOU LOVE ME ANYMORE? That Interview Day was such a tease, you dirty player you...and what's this I hear about you seeing hundreds of others behind my back? PAIN, THY NAME IS TunaSub...

*"Don't forget me I beg
I remember you said
"Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead."*

😀

So some people are hearing in 4 weeks. Wish I hear by Christmas. Greatest Christmas present ever. Do you think that having two holidays in between the interview and acceptance date will make the process even longer?

I interviewed 11/14th.

Got the "wait-list" letter in the mail today. Interviewed in the 3rd week of October. So that makes it 2 wait-lists and a grand total of 1 more interview scheduled for me. From what I've read here, the wait-list barely moves here.

I know you have to take what the interviewer says with a grain of salt, but my short interviewer all but assured me a spot. I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up. This blows.

Good luck with your other interview! I'm crossing fingers for you :xf:

Fudgecakes. Got the wait list letter as well... at least it came AFTER Thanksgiving.

At least there's no more waiting in limbo for me.

Is the waitlist letter the same as the "not immediate invitation, but repeated consideration" letter?

who was your short interview?
it sounds like my second interview guy...

I don't think so. Around the same time, some people got waitlist letters and other people got continued consideration emails. I think they are different.

****. I got the letter in the mail as well. I thought my interviews went very well also. Really no way to frame this in a good light. Vanderbilt is such a great school, and I felt it was a perfect fit for me. This is my second waitlist as well with no acceptances yet. Here's to hoping that you and I, and everyone else who received disappointing news, find a place somewhere else. :xf:

This definitely stings though.

I received no mail today, just that email a few weeks ago. Hmmmmmm.

Same! It seems like we are in very similar situations except you've been waiting since August! Here's hoping we will hear good news before the holidays.
