This is the slowest, shortest thread I have been on in a looooong time! lol what gives guys??

Couple of reasons, I think: (1) Yale has been pretty transparent about the decision day, so there's no point in agonizing about it. (2) The thread doesn't have a current Yale medical student extolling the school's virtues and leaking insider tips.

Fewer people apply to Yale.

People seem pretty sure decisions come out next week.

People are exhausted from other threads.

I can't wait to hear back! Good luck people! :luck:

Like the insane energy on the Harvard + Columbia thread?
Yep good luck to all next week! :luck:😍

Yeah, all it takes is one f-ing troll post...

Guys, as a current Yale student, I heard from a reliable source close to the situation that the Yale Admissions Office intends to trade a limited number of acceptances for draft picks and cash considerations starting at 4:32 pm Mountain Standard time today... they will also be constantly monitoring this thread from this point on, and will accept the poster who most demonstrates the highly valuable qualities of neuroticism and nauseating sycophancy. 😛

Is it just me or does Yale seem to accept more "true" international students (i.e Canadian only and not a duel citizen U.S + Canadian undergrad)? Last year, 2 from UOttawa and 4 from UToronto...

Maybe this is all wishful thinking on my part hahahaha :luck:

I gotta say though....the Harvard rejection yesterday is not helping morale.... 🙁

I did notice this as well actually. I am not sure how many of them hold dual citizenship but I remember hearing that something like 12/100 people in the first year class are Canadian alone. Not sure if this is accurate but it sure seemed like there were a lot!

I see...

So, did anyone from admissions ever confirm that we're finding out on May 13th at 1pm?

Canada doesn't even have 12/88 of US's population o.o

*fingers crossed*

This is from last year's thread, not words from anyone from Yale: acceptances sent by email at 1:06 pm on decision day and waitlist and rejection letters sent by mail only.

Yale seem to interview a lot of Canadians relative to other schools!! Hope they will be accepting lots too!!

So do you think only acceptances will be sent out on Tuesday? Or waitlists and rejections, too?

do they not send any rejections until done with interviews?

Interviews are done already though. So if you haven't gotten one yet, it's sadly over.

I'm only reporting last year's facts. I have no idea how it's gonna be this year.

I called the office a while back, Tuesday is the target date, maybe Wednesday if they're delayed. Like last year, emails will only go to acceptances while everyone will receive some sort of mail indicating acceptance, waitlist, or rejection within a day or two of Tuesday.

I really don't like this system. So many students are on SDN and will know that they aren't accepted as soon as people start posting acceptances. I really think they should try and release everything on the same day.

A lot of schools do it like this, though, so their might be a good reason for why they do this that I haven't considered.

Megatron after the neuroticism with the two schools which shall remain unnamed last week, I hope that both of us (Protonate you too) will have better luck here!

Does anyone know if there is a dedicated block for Step 1 studying at the end of second year? I interviewed here in what has felt like 1,000 years ago in "application cycle years" and I just don't remember. Also, the PDF on their website for the second year is (mistakenly) the third year schedule.

I'm super excited about this program. Hope the SDN contingent has good luck here next week! :luck:

Yes, we have dedicated time for Step 1. Classes end in March of year 2, and it's up to you when you start studying and when exactly you take the exam. No responsibilities linked to Yale for those weeks - it is one of the best study blocks offered in the country.

Good luck this week, guys. I look forward to seeing some of you at second look.

Yale was probably my favorite interview day and I am hoping hard for an acceptance on Tuesday. Trying not to get my hopes up or obsess too much, but oh how I adore this school.

Last week really did get off to a terribly slow start! I try to look at anything good that happens this week as gravy...though i got an amazing vibe from yale on my interview day.

Last year first acceptance was posted on Tuesday, March 15 at 1:08 PM on SDN (applicants were notified via email). 🙂

Same thing here....this was one of my most memorable experiences for interviews in the States (if not the most memorable). Best of luck to both of us and every Yale-hopefuls on this forum 🙂

Btw dude I dare you to RSVP right now to that thing hahaha 😀

I personally think my interviews went better at Penn than here... I liked my student interview here but not so sure about how the faculty one went. I guess I'll find out within 48 hours lol. Hopefully we've grown a little from last week and be less anxious about decisions this week haha. I'm lucky because I have a ton of work to do this week, as opposed to last week where I had nothing, so had all the time in the world to check the forums and refresh my emails haha

Good luck man at Penn and here!! :luck: I am sure that we will cross paths in the future no matter where we end up...medicine is a surprisingly small world. 🙂

and I am the exact opposite haha. Last week I had three midterms and this week I have nothing except to write up my thesis bahaha

Hey, Smasher. I, too, attend a top 40 public university (pretty obvious from just looking at my username). I don't post here much, but if you'd like more info on my interview day experience, my stats, etc., feel free to PM me!

And good luck to everyone waiting on tomorrow's news!

I think this thread will stay calm. One wave of emails and it's done. Too bad I have a day off from my lab tomorrow.

Good luck to all fellow Canadians!

Just checked out UPenn's thread, and looks like you guys didn't grow at all lol. And that Penn is toying with you.

Canada! Yay!

Did *everyone's* interviews go really well? I'm starting to think maybe what I thought was a good interview was just Yale being really friendly.

Fewer than 18 hours till D-Day and still minimal movement on this thread....Guys we should be ASHAMED of ourselves jkjkj hahaha

And Filius.... no I don't think that the positive experience is universal. However, I did have one of my most memorable interview experiences here. Having said that, even if I don't get accepted I gotta give it to Yale that it did a GREAT job in being the host to interviewees (making us feel at home...etc). 🙂

And the hilarious moment when Canadians DOMINATE (key word here) a U.S med school app thread hahahaha....

I can't believe how ridiculously sane this thread had been. Good luck everyone! First accepted person PLEASE post right away!

Hmmm. Coincidence? 😛

(This is light-hearted joshing, in case it looks annoying under the shadow of tomorrow. )

It's occurring to me now that I really shouldn't have told so many people I went to Yale to interview, you know? I mean, they're all going to be asking me how it went. And, unless I'm a little luckier than I have any right to be, I'm just going to have to re-hash the awkward story over and over. Sigh.

Yay! we're here!!! 😀

In 2010 people heard on Thursday, March 11 at 11 AM.
In 2011 people heard on Tuesday, March 15 at 1 PM.

And it looks like only those accepted get an email...

And people are sure today is the day? 😱

Good luck guys, may today not be a waste of a day checking SDN (I am obviously off to a great start).

That's actually a good question. I actually just jumped on the March 13th bandwagon haha. But I do remember seeing somewhere on this thread that March 13th was the day accompanied with a reasonable explanation as to why that is the case. :xf:

The final ranking meeting was yesterday and the deadline for submission through AMCAS (offers to size of entering class....at least for MD/PhD) is the 15th. So I think it is pretty certain to be today or tomorrow since a school would not want to notify on or after the AMCAS deadline and get themselves in trouble. But there is still a 48 hour of pain until this darn process is over. Lets hope for clemency.

Silverman definitely said the 13th during my interview, but that was back in January. I called yesterday to ask about the 13th, but the admissions folks just told me to "wait and see." They did say that everyone would receive notice via snail mail. However, when I asked if accepted folks also get emails, they again said "wait and see." :-/

Regardless of the 48-hour ambiguity... GOOD LUCK, EVERYONE!!!

I think the deadline is end of March for MD, but I have the impression they try to wrap up initial MD decisions by the MD/PhD deadline

Mr. Silverman told me it would be the 13th, too. That was in early February.

What is this?

And good luck all! D-Day has arrived (more or less)!

I guess it means they took one last look at the accepted/waitlisted/rejected students and finalized things. For MD/PhD at least.

presumably hearing nothing by 2pm Eastern means reject or waitlist, right?
