Wow...nothing says rejection like getting an e-mail late on a Sunday night with a subject line that starts with "No interview" 👎

Not quite the way I wanted to start the week...

Oh wow that's awful. I am so sorry. Hopefully good news will come this week.

Ouch, that's terrible, and no way to start your week out. Hopefully the rest of your week goes better. Do you mind sharing where the rejection was from?

Seriously???? That is ridiculous! Not just because of the pure "suck" that comes from receiving an email with that subject line, but also because I thought for sure the Saturday and Sunday after Thanksgiving were certain to be "no notification" days...

Somehow, I no longer feel safe :annoyed:

It was from Children's Hospital of Michigan. I knew I should have heard from them early last week if I was getting an interview, so a rejection was rather expected...just not on a Sunday night. 🙁

Do people actually get interview invites on the 15th, or if its the 14th and we still haven't heard, should we pretty much be expecting a rejection?

Do you know if UMDNJ has sent out all tracks? Or just the Clinica Latina program?

Based on when people posted invites in years past, it looks like some programs wait until the bitter end. Therefore, don't assume that you are out of the running if you haven't heard on the 14th.

In the words of Peter Griffin, "Ready, set...terrible." At least with my wedding my wife and I gave people 6 months notice to buy their plane tickets...😀

Also, take a careful look at the notification deadlines and interview info for each program (both on APPIC and site-specific websites when available). The vast majority of sites I applied to have Dec 15 on their APPIC page but some have different info on the site-based website (ie: on APPIC they say Dec. 15 but on their own website they say Dec 10). One of my sites has a notification deadline of Dec. 18 and another site says they try to notify everyone by Dec 15 but that it is not always possible for them to do so.... so you could still be in the running on Dec. 16, Dec. 17, Dec. 18, etc.

Right now I'm of the mindset that anything is fair game until you get a notification specifically stating that you are not getting an interview and/or are no longer under consideration. I wish it was more black-and-white, but then this whole process wouldn't be NEARLY as much fun! 🙄

Ok...back to checking my e-mail every 2 seconds because apparently weekend notifications are fair game too...even at 8pm on a Sunday....

Anyone heard from MUSC regarding interviews for the behavioral medicine track?

I'm at a counseling center and I think we'll be sending out all invites and rejections on the 15th. We don't do in-person interviews though, so there's not the plane ticket consideration.

Hey! I've been lurking for a while and appreciate the news about which sites are getting in touch with invites/rejections. I'm nervous beyond belief but this site helps!

Also wanted to contribute: I received an email invite to the University of Chicago (Adult track) this morning. My first invite - YAY! 😀

When did Yale send out offers? I haven't seen any posts about Yale. Was it for the Med School or the Child Study Center?

Wow, they're getting started bright and early today it seems; congratulations on the offer

Duke - Adult CBT
MUSC - General

These two were the most recent ones I've heard from just a few days ago.

Do you remember which interview dates they offered at MUSC? I applied there also (different track) and am trying to take Therapist4Change's advice about keeping track of possible dates in a calender as to avoid conflicting dates...and ultimately annoying a TD with a request for change of interview dates...assuming I actually get one at MUSC:xf:

I am wondering the same!

If they put such little time into rejection letter, sounds like your better off without them!

Omg I would DIE.

Got a rejection from FCI Tallahassee. One of the most detailed/to the point rejections so far. The subject line: No Interview at FCI Tallahassee. No wondering what's on the inside with that one! 😛

So, lets assume that you have back to back interviews in fairly large cities. For example, an interview in San Francisco on a Monday and an interview in San Diego on Tuesday (I understand this isn't ideal, but let's assume for a moment you don't have any other choice). Do you end up taking your luggage with you to the interview? I didn't plan on renting cars in big cities, so I was just wondering how people have handled situations like this in the past.

Pack light? 😀😉

J/K - I didn't interview last year but I figure they understand the situation - OR you can have your hotel hold your bags even if you have already checked out.

Children's Mercy is paying for a night in a hotel for us - I was SHOCKED!

Random question: I got an interview invite on Wednesday, and I immediately responded with the dates I prefer. However, I still haven't heard anything. Now I know that there was a holiday, but I am not sure how long I should wait before writing back, especially since a few of the dates I requested were in December. What do you think? Do it this afternoon, or give it until tomorrow?

I responded to 2 myself over 2 weeks ago (I was quick to reply) so I'm going to give them this week and then follow up call with their secretaries.

Newbie here. See that Duke Child Track already started sending invites for interviews. I can't seem to track (based on posts on the thread) when those invites started going out. Anyone know? Have not heard from them either way and the suspense is KILLING me.

Personally, I would wait several more days. I would say maybe Thursday. On Wednesday they were probably busy notifying people of interviews and getting stuff done before the break. Then out Thursday and maybe Friday too, and today they're probably trying to get caught up on work and back into the swing of things. I'd say give 'em more time.

EDIT: Though if it were me, it would depend on which dates I specified in Dec. Now that I think about it, I would be tempted to wait til Friday or so unless one of the dates was early/mid next week.

I'm in the same boat. I was told 1 week. So maybe wait until tomorrow.

I had a similar situation last week and decided to resend my original reply to the site this morning. I just said that I understood with the holidays I probably would not hear back until this week but I wanted to make sure they received my original reply. Got a response within 20 minutes with the confirmation.

Oh...I should clarify. I only felt comfortable resending my original message this morning because I know that others who responded last week got email confirmations very quickly. If I had not known that I probably would have waited a little longer.

woot just got an interview from Dartmouth

Just went back and read one of my friend's blogs from last year...she got three invites on the 1st to three of my top schools. (Mailman, Oklahoma, and Kennedy Krieger - all peds sites...) Let the panic ensue...

My peer received an invite on 11/22 by email. I also have not heard either way...

Has anyone heard anything about the Harvard Mass General CBT track? I've confirmed with people at my program that NP, Child, and Adult have all received interview invites. Looking for news on CBT.

I'm told the Lexington VA has started sending invites (not sure about track(s)).

I applied there and they did not have tracks, its a generalist model program. My invite came in a phone call rather than an email btw...

I'm still waiting to hear from Harvard/Mass General Neuro Track. Trying to adopt a "no news is good news" policy =/

Congrats--just got the email for VA UMB comprehensive. Maybe I'll see you there!

As I was typing this, I got an invite for an interview at the Baltimore VA/University of Maryland Neuropsych track whoop whoop!!! 😀

Congrats on the interview!

I also have not heard from the Harvard Med/Mass Gen neuropsych track, and I've adopted the same policy 🙂

Received invitation from UMB/VA PTSD/Trauma Track today via email. So excited!

Congrats to all who have gotten invites today! I was hoping to have some internship site contact today.

Yay! Just got a phone call from Center for Multicultural Mental Health at Boston Medical Center for an interview. Their dates are Thursdays starting next week until mid-Jan (all day event; morning interview, afternoon seminar to meet interns). I was so happy I just danced around my office! 😀

2 interviews, 1 rejection. Keep them coming!

I'm still befuddled, where are the west coast invites! 😱

If it makes you feel any better, I also have yet to hear anything (other than 1 quick rejection) from any west coast sites. The computer here at this clinic is mind-numbingly slow, otherwise I'd try pulling up last year's thread to see when California sites started sending out invites.

Congrats Aresta!! I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for that one...
