hi everyone!!
I have a query. I got my TOEFL results 2days back. Im planning to apply to UIC next week. Do I have to email ETS and ask them to send scores to the university Im applying or do they automatically send our scores to the four schools they ask to select free of cost during registering the TOEFL exam??

Would be great if someone who already went through this process or are in the process of applying schools now could suggest the procedure to be followed. Really appreciate any suggestions. Thankyou.
 
I would suggest you ask toefl to send the scores to YOUR house. once your receive the sealed envelopes you should send the scores to the respective universities with PROOF OF DELIVERY.....that way nothing falls on YOUR shoulders ...and you can track where your package is....trust me, I know TOO many ppl who have lost admission opportunity because their scores/applications/paperwork did not reach the university AND they didnt even KNOW until they got the news that their application was incomplete and it was TOO late to do anything.

thankyou very much bigsmiles for ur valuable suggestion. Yes, I will do the same. Just worried that Im already late for applying to UIC as the application cycle started 2months back. Since its first come first serve procedure followed in USA, I want to apply as soon as possible and I feel it will take time for score reports to come home after ordering. Just worried thats it will delayed few more weeks if I wait for score reports.
anyways!! I think its safe way to include score report......so, I will probably wait....
 
well if your scores are good enough then you will get called. trust me on that. i applied on the LAST DAY of application cycle and still got an interview...i was the 2nd last batch to be interviewd and got accepted.....just trust in your scores, in yourself and leave the rest to UIC admission committee......when is their deadline? isnt it around august? they dont call u until july or so for interviews so dont worry about it too much .

can i ask you if they accept toefl 81 bec the minimum for application is 80
part one 85
gpa3.35 and 4 for master
10 years exp.
2 years dental assistant usa
 
Can someone tell me if they have already started sending out interview invitations at UIC?

hi bigsmiles!!thanku very much for ur guidance.really appreciate it. r u a current student in UIC??did u get accepted last year?? its great that u got accepted even in the last days.....think u have very good academic profile......UIC deadline is july 1st 2010.application cycle started on march 1st 2010(2 months back).
I ordered official toefl score reports today.i think its going to take approaximately 3weeks to come to home address. I agree its better getting late rather than ending up in an incomplete application in hurry.

I think the interview cycle is active between august to november. check out their website.its mentioned in the website.

Could anyone tell me what all documents do we have to send to CAAPID? Do they have to be original/photocopies or notarized copies?

I have problem in getting recommendation letters from my college directly[its been a while since I graduated].Will they accept copies of the letters that I have?

I really appreciate if someone could answer these.

we need to send
1.rec letters
2.ece report

they do accept notarized or just copies of rec letters and as well as ece report(just copy is also enough).You can call them and ask them whatever Q you have.Hope this helps.

Those who are applying to UCSF -were you able to obtain it?
They do not accept notarized copies.
I guess I won't be able to apply there at all.🙁
 
Yes, they need original...Did you try contacting your college? I contacted mine and they agreed to send one to me sealed and stamped...I will forward it to UCSF.....

They do not accept notarized copies...

I just dont understand why each and every university has their own demands and rules.....some need copies only..no need to notarize...some need notarized...some need original only......

But no complains...we need to do what they ask....right...

I know thats a problem but beg juniors or friends to send it - I did and i thought that was THE BEST decision I ever took
Your college in home country would be extremely co-operative trust me!

I have a question regarding notarizing of documents.Many schools ask for notarized copies.So for this what do we do,
-get copies of original and get them simply signed & stamped from the notary OR
- the notary have to write on the copy that "this is a copy of the original ...." and then sign & stamp.

I got them done earlier with all the writing"this is a copy.....".But I feel that the notary will think we are making them do lot of work by doing so on 10,15 pages every time.Eventhough they won't say anything they might think me as "nuisance" every time I go there.
Did anybody had this problem before?
I don't know what else to do
Any suggestions?🙁

well..when i got them notarized...i wrote "this is a copy...." myself on all the photocopies and they just had to sign and stamp them

hey im sorry,but notarized documents for which university?and a question...for ucsf,do we need to send original marks cards???last year i sent them notarized and it worked..so im not sure whats going on!

By saying original they mean a copy of the original transcript that is either signed by the registrar or the dean of the dental school/registrar or controller of examinations of the university. Most important, after the authorities sign and put a stamp on your copy it must be sealed and the cover also should contain their sign and seal on the top. This was how it was last year. You can call them up and ask them if you need further information and they answer your questions patiently.

This was the explanation of the original document given in the ucsf pdf file 2011 IDP Application Checklist

1Original Official Document
􀀁 a document sent directly from the source (dental school, ADA, ECE, NBDE, TOEFL) to UCSF School of Dentistry - OR -
􀀁 a document provided to you by the source in a sealed envelope.

I do have the original as you had mentioned,the only problem for me is to obtain one directly from my college in a sealed envelope or for them to send directly to the school applying.But I will try my best.
Also I will call the college [ucsf] and ask how I can do it.

Can I request ada to mail my part -1 scores to my address so that i can mail them to UCSF.I don't know whether ada will post scores to students?anyone who has done that?

Yes I have ordered the score reports to my address too from JCNDE. Because it is better to send sealed score reports to the universities because then we know for sure that they received them.
 
When is the earliest possible time you can order additional score report for NBDE part 1 exam?
My exam is on 10th july! I am worried if my results would reach the university prior to deadline of 15th August!
Please help.
 
I need to reapply in UOP but their site says that no documents after 13 august even supplement. Actually i want to give my part2 result too this time, but don't know if will be able to give early. So my ques is they don't need part2, but can i send my result if pass after deadline as its additional thing? otherwise i don't wanna apply with same things? pls advice me, little confused. if anybody did same before?? though universities say it strictly but some ppl i think do that too, wat should i do???

For UIC, on their website they mention that they do not accept ibt toefl score before May 09,I took my toefl Jan.09.so I have to take it again,
can I submit my appl. now and send toefl score later on?in case if score can not reach before deadline, will they accept my application?

even i had a same question and when i call the UOP they said that they dont accept any document after deadline but they dont need part 2 ..even if you give part 2 you have to at least wait 4 weeks after the date of exam to order your score and it will be too late....HOpe it helps
 
Hey people UCSF wants us to answer their question in separate paper . I want to know how you have answer those question? I mean in the essay format or in descriptive format like separate bullet. And they have not mentioned about any length restriction but I want to know How many pages it should be effectively?

I replied on a separate sheet of paper. I copied each question and answered to it. Just answer to those questions specifically and it has not to be a specific length because this is not an essay..just answers

Please type your responses to each of the following questions separately either in an essay or bullet format (since choice is yours, it depends on the type of question), and attach them to the application. Although there is no maximum length to responses, please convey your thoughts adequately and in a reasonable amount of space. Make sure it’s brief & specific but also attentive, attractive, true and informative (by use of short-convincing examples). It is also vital to allow yourself enough time to revise your piece of writing thoroughly. This revision needs to occur on both the content level (did you address the question? is there enough detail covered?) and the sentence level (is the writing clear? are the mechanics and punctuation correct?). Tools such as spell-checks and grammar-checks help a lot. Apart from reading over draft yourself, you may show it to your mentors and 2-3 more experts from the familiar background. Don't write many pages since evaluators may not be interested reading long stories, I think 3-4 pages per 10 questions on average should be more than sufficient, again it depends on type of questions, lesser the better, quality of written draft is more appreciated.​

I have question about this. When I order to take TOEFL exam, I can't order extra copies to be sent to my home address. The girl I talked on the phone kept saying I couldn't do that, just 4 schools for free..... Please help.
 
you can only do 4 schools for free but can order them for a fee if you need additional copies.

Hi bddsgirl,

You should be hearing from them by 1-2 weeks before the deadline approaches. However, you may call/email 'International program' office since it's been 2-3 weeks already. Ask them that you want to know your present application status. If there's any pending status, you should submit required documents prior to deadline. best!
