SOMEONE KNOWS THE REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY TO THE AEGD PROGRAM IN UCONN??

WILL I BE ABLE TO APPLY FOR MY LICENSE AT THE END OF THE PROGRAM ?

Heyy everyone,
I will be entering dental school this fall, and I know this is early of me to think about, but I am really interested in GPR/Hospital dentistry. Are there any good websites that have a list of all the hospitals/schools that are affiliated with the GPR training program and maybe some insights about the rigorousness about the program? In general, how competitive is this field (in regards to LOR, GPA, ranking etc.)? How should I be preparing to go to this field as an entering dental student? Thanks! And goodluck everyone!

Do a search on the ADA site http://www.ada.org/5502.aspx -- has all the accredited GPR/AEGD programs out there (not just the ones participating in PASS). Some have websites you can use to research them.

As for how you should prepare, I offer the same advice for any first years thinking about post-grad training -- keep your grades up, do well on the boards, absorb and learn as much as you can, and shadow/visit/assist in the area you're interested in. Make contacts (future LORs plus great advice-givers) and try to get involved in something that sets your application apart (research, class council, ASDA, etc).

Does your school have any hospital dentistry or special patient care rotations? Try to get in touch with someone in charge and see if you can spend some time with them. I know at my school we really didn't get much exposure to special patient care until my forth year...

Good luck!

The American Student Dental Association (ASDA) sells a good guide to residency programs. Most schools have a copy, so you may not want to buy one until you start in the fall and see if your school has one. Volume 1 has the GPR and AEGD programs in it, and gives you a guide of what you can do from the beginning of school to prepare yourself. It also has a list of pretty much every program, and gives a good description of many of them.

Hi,
I am verry interested in residency in AEGD/GPR for this year (2011-2012) but could not apply earlier. Is anybody aware of any vacant positions? Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
