yes. i am so upset.
What's with the guy doing his EM residency at McMaster U in Canada? Is that common? Nothing wrong with that but I have never heard of someone going from a US med school to do an international residency. It's almost always been the other way around with people going to med school overseas and trying their best to land a residency spot here. Of course he must have had his reasons (maybe he's Canadian?) but I swear I've never seen that before.
blah blah frickin' blah ditty blahyes. i am so upset.

I just wanted to get in on scolding you, Cliff 😛.
Also, can we procede with the match list posting, please? Thank you to everyone who posted one. They are fun to look at.
If your school's match list doesn't have a bunch of Harvard's or Hopkins then you should decline your acceptance and apply again next year to a school with tons of Harvard/Hopkins matches!

No categorical pediatrics at all? That seems kind of odd to me.
I know UCSF is good, but what exactly is Stanford known for in medicine? I'm not talking about research, I mean for residency. I only know their psych is good, but not much about other departments.I motion to include Stanford and UCSF as well, not all of us want to head to the east coast 🙂.

Thanks for the reply. Source for any of this? Especially the stuff in bold.I think all their departments are at least "pretty good." Many people choose Stanford based on the happiness factor, which many value, knowing that residency, and possibly the rest of their lives, are going to to be relatively taxing.
Furthermore, the Stanford name has a strong reputation. I would venture to guess that each department has at least a few well-known physicians. Also, the Stanford residencies consistently place people into top fellowships and jobs across the country.

Stanford has top research at many of its programs. That said, it has low volume compared to other top programs, so it might not be the best bet for some surgical specialties.
Thanks for the info. Can you point to me where you found they have the most research of all rads programs? I am interested in this.It just depends on what you're going into, as some specialties aren't so volume dependent and in many cases you would be better served not being slammed and having time for research/cme. It's one of my top choices because it has the most research of all rads programs.
Anyone have MCV/VCU 2011 Match list that they can please post? Much appreciated.

I was going to post the CU match results, but they actually have names on the PDF.. Sorry guys!

Someone please post UTSW and UTH
anyone have UTSanAntonio or Northwestern?
So what exactly are you pre-meds doing with a match list? You can't glean anything useful from it. You can only see what the relative distribution of specialties is, but even that isn't very helpful. You can't say that just because a school matches 50% of its class into IM or peds that it is biased towards primary care, because you don't know what the career plans are of the matchees, and if they have fellowship aspirations. Nor are you in a position to evaluate the caliber of programs that people match to. Yes, Harvard, Hopkins, Mayo and Stanford are great programs, but not for every discipline.
I always get a kick out of seeing these threads where those without direct experience in matching and ranking programs then extrapolate a rank list into a de facto evaluation of a given institution's educational caliber.
