Just wanted to say good luck fellow panic team!
I was fully planning to have to reapply and retake the MCAT again when I got the phone call today that I'd been accepted!

If I can get in with a 29 MCAT, you guys on here with crazy high MCAT scores can make it, too! Hang in there, there is a lot of this cycle left to be surprised, too!

Just got a snail mail PRE-SECONDARY rejection from Wayne State, one of the least competitive MD schools. OUCH.

They literally said straight up that my app wasn't competitive. OOS/3.52/31R (11/10/10)

So strange since I got an interview at VCU (where I'd MUCH rather attend, anyway), and VCU also has a strong in-state preference.

Thoughts? What are their screening cutoffs?

This makes me insanely worried about other schools.
(So far I'm at 5R, 1II)

Not even a secondary! I got the secondary after my 2nd score came back, but I didn't like that they didn't want me and withdrew a few weeks ago without even submitting my secondary. I think you should be fine for other schools, Wayne seems to be a pit picky.

Maybe they figured since you had so many schools to choose from you'd go somewhere else? lol

That must be incredibly frustrating.

I am making an assumption here, but it seems clear to me that they didn't do a good job making an argument for you when the committee was reviewing your application.

VCU is a really great school in many respects, and I think that you'll find the environment there both friendly and relaxed.

Never thought it was anything less. Like I said, I love VCU like 800000x better than Wayne State, and I would be the happiest person ever to go there. The more I hear about the environment and the curriculum, the more I realize what a great fit it is for me since I'm a very laid back and cooperative person.

In fact, out of all the schools I applied to, I feel that VCU and Brown would be the best fit for me, although I have a snowball's chance in hell of getting into Brown with my stats, so VCU it is! I swear, I still haven't come down from that post-II high... and it's been over a week!

in all seriousness, I just follow the school-specific threads, and check my status when other people in the threads say they have an update.

I'm not suggesting that you need to check every school's status page every single day. But maybe once every week or two just in case you don't get the email. If you go through some of the school-specific threads you will see that some people have gotten status updates and not gotten the corresponding emails in their inbox or spam folder.

Besides, since this is the panic thread, what else are you gonna do with all that time except panic? 😀

Don't neglect to check the change in font size on your status page. Even if the messages haven't changed, a decrease in font size, or a change in the spacing of the blocks of text on you status page may indicate you have been rejected.

No worries man, you can get yourself un-rejected in merely 2 simply steps:

1) Hold down the Ctrl button on your keyboard.
2) Scroll upward with your mouse scroll wheel.

Finally got an interview at an out of state school! Guess I'll be flying to Cleveland in Jan/Feb.

Panic levels slightly alleviated after 2 months of hearing no news from schools (with the one exception being my state school).

Actually, there is some merit to this hysteria. It's pretty common for faculty to take the week off for Thanksgiving. Source: I work at a medical school. Let the panic commence!

0 MD interviews. 1 DO interview. Complete at most schools throughout October and a couple towards end of Oct/early Nov. 2 MD rejections including my top choice state school, but still have 17 completed MD applications and 4 more DO apps out there. Worried though because I have a horrible GPA (3.2) but did a postbacc and did ok. 35 MCAT is my only hope in this. Just not too optimistic.
