The only issue with this strategy is you don't really have a year to improve. It's nearly January and if you want to apply by June you only have about 6 months 🙁

I feel your pain! Same thing happened to me last week. Got my hopes up, especially b/c I felt the interview went really well.... I had a few (= many) drinks to get over that one!

Any word on when you hear back from the interview (or have you not attended yet)? At least you have 27 schools that are still deciding on you. Don't lose hope because on any given day you can get an II in your mailbox. Try to keep that fire burning at least until March. And if at that time you are still in the same position, then you can start losing hope 👍

Interview is 1/7 so few weeks. Only thing to look forward to.

Preinterview, so I guess it doesn't hurt as much as if it was post interview. Still though, I thought it was a really good school that fit my application fairly well. I spent 3 days on that damned secondary. Oh well.
 
Straight-out rejected post-interview from a brand new school in my home state. Thought the interviews went really well, my numbers seem to be above average for them, and I legitimately believe in their mission, which fits well with my EC's. Ouch.

Had my second interview on Tuesday, which I'm not at all confident about now.

A similar thing happened to me. It was the school at the bottom of my list but I was still disappointed. It also made me worry that maybe my interviews aren't going as good as I think they are.

Totally freaking out...my first interview is being discussed at the adcom meeting today. I know I can't do anything right now (especially since I don't know that I did really well at it), so instead I'm just going to panic.

Don't lose hope! You applied to a lot of schools and you have a lot that you're waiting to hear back from. I'm a little in the same boat and I know how much it sucks--waiting, getting rejections, more waiting. Keep your spirits up!

I am in the same boat! non trad...similar stats.... about 25 schools 0 interviews 5 rejections, 1 hold and then silenceeeeeee

Seems like a pretty slow day in general for interviews according to allo page!
 
The waiting is the worst part, I'd much rather know early if I was rejected than hanging onto hope for months. Anyone know if there is a thread of schools that silently reject?

I feel your pain, I was recently rejected from Brown pre-interview and I felt like I slaved over that secondary.
On to the next one! 👍

Agreed. Waiting to hear back post-secondary is painful enough, and then when you finally score an interview, you have yet another absolutely brutal waiting period.

As for silent rejections, it looks like the Medical College of Wisconsin likes to disable your account before giving you a formal rejection letter (from the MCW school specific thread).

Ugh, another rejection, though I was complete at this school in december lol
 
Just experienced the restricted call at 5:30 pm all my dreams are coming true actually a spam call crushing my soul moment.
 
lololol yeah haha, Puts me at 8 rejections 1 II though, which sucks. God, I'm so burnt out!!!!!! I have taken classes every winter and summer since I started college except last summer, in which I studied for my MCAT, I studied for my MCAT for 7 months during school and then into the summer and then applied, and then school started again. Doing this cycle again is GOING to suck lol.

Same here 🙁 The only upside is that since we know there won't be anything coming out, we can at least (temporarily) stop anticipating emails/calls/letters.

Try to keep your heads up everyone, but more than that try to set this all aside for a few weeks starting from next week. There are threads filled with people getting II's in January and even February, and a majority of eventual matriculants at every school but UPenn, Columbia, and Harvard (according to Columbia) are accepted off the wait list.

Most matriculants get into their school between March and June. This is just the first half of a very long game, and we're reaching halftime. Try to enjoy it 🙂

Edit: And according to Columbia, those three schools take 45, 45, and 40% of their classes off the waitlist, respectively.

Especially since we know adcoms/schools will be on break for the holidays, so you don't have to have anxiety from anticipation of a letter/email/call.

Oh man, you gotta take care of yourself. This process really eats away at your energy and self esteem so an unhealthy lifestyle can make it so much worse.

You have to handle this better. You're applying to be responsible for the lives of others, and the stress of each corresponding gateway from here on out only gets worse. Take care of yourself so you can take care of others when the time comes. Don't let yourself slip, not even for a moment, or this road could lengthen far longer than you wish. Trust that things will work out. 👍
 
how about we all take an evening off from obsessing about our med school applications and connect with the people we love in honor of those who lost their lives in connecticut today. sdn will be here tomorrow.

Seriously, even worse is that most of them were just children. I don't know how someone can even have the stomach to do something like that.

I think we've all lost the right to complain about our comparatively small problems for today.
 
Never thought that by Dec 15th I would only have 1 interview. Man oh man...

Me!!!!!! I was kind of late in my apps according to SDN standards (Mid September). All of my (nearly a dozen MD-PhD and MD interviews) have been last week of October/throughout November and December. I haven't received ANY responses!!! No rejection/acceptance/wait-list. I called all of the schools I interviewed at and my file had not been reviewed by the committee. I think I'm supposed to hear back from a few schools by end of the year before January (some even next week! I hope!!!). I have 3 other interviews left that are in locations which are not too favorable compared to those I have interviewed at already so I'm waiting to purchase my flights until I get some responses. I have already spent so much money. I hate this waiting game because I'm non-traditional and I have a family that I have to relocate across country and I can't plan anything until I get an idea of where I could possibly end up. I'm going insane! The wait is killing me!

I know you guys are going to say that I've had so many interviews so I should not worry, but I do. The reason is that I have a very low uGPA and my college experience is certainly "non-trad". I think my interviews went well, but I think that everything falls back on the whole GPA thing. Once you're done with the interview the committees usually evaluate your application as a whole again and GPA weighs heavily. I'm just afraid of being waitlisted at all schools due to my undergrad GPA. It's abysmal... I didn't even think I would get 1 interview... which is why I never applied to medical school until now.

I have a unique life story ... I came from a disadvantaged background and started college at age 12... I had 4.0 at first but then I stumbled due to immaturity/family issues/economic situation and it took me a while to get back up. I have over 250+ credits and therefore no matter how many A's I get my GPA will never budge. I took classes on and off for many years and graduated 2009 then I completed a SMP and did well in it. I am fortunate to have been invited to so many places, but at the same time it has cost me a lot of money. I hope to hear back soon. I am in major panic mode as I don't have a single response yet and I feel the weight of the world on my shoulder's as my family's relocation (work/school) depends on these decisions.

Undergrad: 3.0 cGPA, sGPA 2.9
Graduate GPA: 3.8 (all science)
MCAT- 30
Excellent ECs/lots of research/amazing life experience/great LOR/awesome PS

I feel like MD/PhD adcoms are more reluctant to hand out acceptances until all interview sessions are over.

Read: you are not alone 🙂
