I guess that makes me feel a little better, I called and she said/suggested that my file still hadn't been reviewed by the committee (or maybe they held off on a decision), to give it another two weeks for the committee part, and another week after for the mailing.... All in all, 12 weeks from my interview 🙁(
 
I know the waiting is the hardest part but keep in mind that for those who should've heard back right around now, school services got shut down for 2 days because of Sandy so there may be a little lag. I'm not on the committee so I don't know when they meet but patience!!!
 
Joined up so I could share my dates with some of you SDN'rs that are going crazy with numbers. Here are my dates:

Submitted 8/9
Complete 8/29
Interview Invite 9/17
Interview 10/3
Acceptance Letter Dated 10/29
Received 11/3

Hopefully those of you who've interviewed around 10/3 will get your letters soon!!!

Interview invite at around 9 this morning.

(I keep wanting to update my MDapps but for some reason, it won't let me sign in.... anyone else having the same issue??)
 
Got the "continue to review" letter in the mail. Oh well..
 
I have to say, the admissions ladies at Penn State are extremely nice. I called this morning to schedule my interview and ended up calling back three times in the span of an hour because I kept changing my mind..... it must have been incredibly annoying but she was very patient and nice about it. And, not that it really matters except that it made me feel special for about 5 seconds but, they are the only ones so far that have actually told me "Congratulations!" (multiple times) when I called to schedule my interview. So, yay for Penn State!!

Congrats. I interviewed before you; pushing on 9+ weeks and still no mail 🙁 Hope this isn't a bad sign
 
I just called the admissions office. The nice lady told me to that I'd probably hear back between 8-10 weeks. She did ask me for my interview date before telling me though so maybe it's not a generic response. I interviewed 10/5

When I interviewed back in mid-October, nobody specified a timeline for hearing back so I asked the really nice lady behind the desk in the admissions office. She told me that they usually say 6-8 weeks, but really it's more like 8-10. I'm not really holding my breath for a letter until after the New Year...
 
Withdrawing from my interview... I hope it goes to someone who deserves it and loves the school!
 
Just called today. The Admissions Office does not accept Letters of Interest, Intent, or new Letters of Rec!

Yup! I was accepted at my home state school two days before Thanksgiving. Thanks for your support! I have been waiting and working for this day for four years... It's such a relief to feel like I'm actually (finally) wanted by a school...

I can't wait to start!

I'm a first year here at the Penn State CoM, just wanted to say a couple things.

First, can't help but post on how I still remember reading and posting on SDN at the same time last year. The whole application process can be stressful with (what I thought sucked the most) all that waiting but the time and work you put in to get this far will surely pay off and wanted to wish everyone on here the best of lucks with apps this cycle!!

Also, for anyone that's received an accepted, we started a facebook group if you'd like to meet members of next years class as well as ask some questions to our class:

Pal, how many people with continue to review status get interviews?

I emailed them on 11/06 asking if they needed anything else from my application. Just got an email response this morning, with this in bold and large text: "Our records indicate that your Secondary Application has been received, but it has not been determined whether your application is complete or not at this time – meaning that it is in queue and on line to be reviewed by the Admissions Committee."

So it seems like they combine the process of marking someone complete and reviewing the application to determine interview invites, which has been stated in this thread before. But it's nice to have it confirmed by email from them.

Apologies if someone has posted something similar in the past. This is the first time I've heard from them since I submitted in 09/07.
 
We don't know specific stats on the continue to review vs ii but I remember from last year it seems like a decent number... It's not the kiss of death that I know a lot of you fear.
 
In case anyone is wondering how busy they are, I just received an email today, 11/30, in response to a question I sent 10/9.

I'm ok with waiting, just hope to hear good news eventually 8|

Complete/Small pool email - 10/11
II - 10/16
Interview 11/9

Data presented at the interview on 2012 Class: Just under 6000 completed secondaries, 14% were interviewed (~840), 14% of interviewees matriculated.

OOS 32Q/cGPA 3.76/sGPA 3.83

Loved the school and the people! Crossin my fingers!!
 
Coming to the end of 9 weeks since my interview. Anyone else interview during the last week of Sept and still waiting for a letter?

When did you get your letter in the mail/when was it postmarked/dated?
 
Got my letter today, not sure when its dated
 
So... I just got a letter in the mail saying that they could not give me an interview...

Only thing is, I interviewed mid September lol. And now it's Friday so I have to wait till monday see what happened

Anyone else get something like this?

i wouldn't worry too much about it... obviously it's a mistake, so it could really mean anything, no point in being pessimistic about it. just wait for the facts! do something to take your mind off of it for the weekend... somehow...
 
Yea I'm not too worried, thankfully I had an awesome interview at rwj today so I'm not gonna be paranoid 😛

it also seems more unlikely that they would mistakenly interview you, as opposed to mistakenly rejecting you. they put in a lot of effort to have someone interview, so im sure the rejection was the mistake.
